In conjunction with the trade show, refreshments and supper will be provided to the delegates and vendors. As in previous years, we are certain there will be no shortage of door prizes these will be drawn for around 7:30 – you must be present to win.

Concurrent Informational Sessions – Thursday April 26th 2018 - 9:00 am. 11:00 a.m.

Concurrent Session #1 Digital Citizenship in Saskatchewan Schools As technology becomes more embedded in schools, educators have a responsibility to help students realize the potential of technology while avoiding the pitfalls. But how can educational leaders support and encourage the integration of digital citizenship instruction into their schools? This session will go beyond the policy guide, Digital Citizenship in Saskatchewan Schools, released in 2015 and reframe the discussion to focus on the potential of technology to effect change and how we can all support our students to learn how to positively contribute to our communities, both in-person and online.

Concurrent Session #2 Google for Organizations - Collaboration in the Cloud

Google products are now popular in classrooms, but they’re still rarely used in education outside of the classroom. However, working in the cloud has tremendous potential for collaboration and many Google products absolutely shine when it comes to collaboration.

In this session you’ll learn some of the great time-saving tools available in the Google G Suite group of products. These tools can help you better manage large or small teams, increase document security, and save time. If you have ever had to work with a group of collaborators or manage a large project, this session is for you.

Mitigating Risk through School Safety Plan and Emergency Response Protocol development – PROTECTING our Most Valuable Assets, OUR STUDENTS

Each day, Saskatchewan’s 700+ schools are entrusted to provide safe learning environments for students. In the event of an emergency, school safety plans and emergency response protocols can help to maintain calm and keep students and staff safe. This presentation will discuss points to consider when developing useful and standard School Safety Plans and Emergency Response Protocols. Crucial elements in the development of these documents include requirements outlined in the RCMP’s SAFE (School Action for Emergencies) Program as well as the Incident Command System (ICS) protocol to ensure that schools are speaking the same language as the first responders we rely on to assist us in emergent situations. The last 10 minutes will provide an overview of a case study in applying these best practices using recent work completed by Prairie Valley School Division (PVSD). Presenters include Cheryl Riffel who is the RCMP “F” Division SAFE Program Manager for the Province of Saskatchewan, who will be joined by an active RCMP member; Wayne Nogier, a Certified Planner in Emergency and Disaster Mitigation, retired Advanced Care Paramedic and consultant who has worked with several provincial ministries including on projects such as the current Provincial 911 system. Also presenting will be Naomi Mellor, Deputy Director/CFO and Lyle Stecyk, Superintendent from PVSD.

Vendor Presentations – Thursday April 26th 2018 – 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Similar to last year, we have again invited vendors to make a presentation to interested delegates. A change from last year will provide for a ½ hour break before vendor presentations begin. A bag lunch format will allow delegates to have a choice to relax as they eat their lunch, take a walk prior to the vendor presentations or simply take lunch to the vendor presentation room of their choice and eat it there. The presenters will be PowerSchool (artieveERP), Powerland Computers/Veeam, Baragar Systems & Right Labs

Functional Group Sessions – Thursday April 26th 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

& Friday April 27th 2018 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.

These sessions will allow delegates to break into their own job specific “role like” groups to share common practices and hear from speakers on topics specific to their own functions. Each functional group director has made arrangements for general discussion during this time frame but also has invited a few guests’ speakers as well.

AGM & Annual Elections – Friday April 27th 11:30 a.m. – Adjournment.

The annual general meeting will be the final session of the convention.
