Start by researching great photos that others have taken. Understand what participants

are looking for in the photo. Look at google images or other

photographers work for inspiration. Ask the event

organiser what photos he/she thinks people will love.

UNDERSTAND THE SPORT

If shooting outside be aware of the direction of natural light.

Take note of where the sun is and be aware of shadows. Use natural light to your advantage

to capture the best light on your subject.

UTILISE NATURAL LIGHT

Too much noise behind the subject could negatively impact the quality of your final image. Make sure that the background does not distract from the story you are trying to tell but adds to the composition of your photo.

CONSIDER BACKGROUND

Putting people front and centre of the frame is paramount to capturing a photo. Be close enough to the action that people can recognise themselves.

FILL THE FRAME

Look for moments of high emotion. After the goal is

scored, starting lines, finish lines. Emotion and action bring

energy to the shot.

Multiple exposures of people do sell. Be sure to take a photo of

every person participating, even if they aren't a key player.
