REALISATION OF AGENDA - MELBOURNE LANEWAY STREET ART Achievement of the goals outlined in the agenda by plugging into the existing laneway street art subculture already present within Melbourne’s CBD. 1. COMMISSION STATIC STREET ART PIECES In order to enhance the exisiting spaces and provoke interest, commission a number of Melbourne street artists to paint walls within the laneways - the artists are to be selected by whether their style suits the environment. As it stands, the concept does not meet the objectives outlined in the agenda. 2. COMMISSION STREET ART WHICH INCORPORATES AN INSTALLATION Combine a number of commissioned art works with installations which are tied to the works - an interactive media presentation in which the artists are interviewed about their works, their art style and what persuaded them to pursue a career as an artist. This would bridge the gap which currently exists between the end-user and the artist and would give the artist an opportunity to verbally communicate with their audience. This achieves the objectives outlined in the agenda but is not flexible nor would it be easy to obtain landowners approval. 3. DIGITAL STREET ART WHICH INCORPORATES AN INSTALLATION Commision street artists to produce digitial images which, with the aide of a high-definition projec- tor, would be displayed on to a Western wall of each laneway. Combine this with an interactive media presentation in which the artists are interviewed about their works, their art style and what persuaded them to pursue a career as an artist. This would bridge the gap which currently exists between the end-user and the artist and would give the artist an opportunity to verbally communi- cate with their audience. This achieves the objectives outlined in the agenda, is flexible, thought provoking and would it be easy to obtain landowners approval. INTERVENTION Must not only be functional in housing the interactive media presentation but must also compliment its surroundings and the overall aesthetic of the laneways. It is proposed to use existing elements/ shapes which are within the environment as a basis for the structure of the intervention - I.E. the cone shape of the period street lighting. DELIVERY OF MEDIA PRESENTATION To be done in a novel way which invokes interest and relates to the overall intervention. It is proposed the interactive media presentation be housed in what appears to be a thinned down vending machine which would not look out of place on a street corner in the CBD.
