Looking back at my preliminary task, it is clear that my knowledge on photoshop was very limited, however, through the months of creating my music magazine, I would like to say that my understanding has grown and enabled me to use photoshop productively and produce work to a high standard.

For the preliminary task, I didn’t take much thought into font or colour scheme which was why the writing is difficult to see or read. The colours used for the font for the school magazine blend into the background image which is unappealing to the eye. The colours are also very contrasting which makes it look increasingly unattractive. I am now aware og the different techniques that can be used to make everything on a page balance out and compliment each other, as the colours on the front cover of my music magazine do.

EDITING When making my school magazine, I had

minimal knowledge on how to edit photos to make them look better. However, by the time I started making my music magazine, I quickly learnt how to filter images as I did for my front cover image, to ensure that the colours of the image were balanced out and didn’t look either too bright or too dark. This made me understand that small things could make a huge difference. This was Especially made apparent to me when remembering to include an issue number, to make the audience aware of how new or old the magazine may be.

Through the process of creating my music magazine, I’d learnt that photoshop has many different tools and features, meaning that it isn’t possible to learn how to use all of them, especially if not all of them are necessary or essential to the process of making my magazine.

Both of the magazines are targeted at two totally different audiences. The school magazine is aimed at parents and students that want to stay informed on what’s going on in school, and my music magazine is aimed at a specific genre (pop/R&B) audience that would like to be kept updated on everything to do with music that they listen to.
