Pastor’s Corner The Pharisees, during the time of

Jesus, believed that the Torah was

eternal and the Law was delivered

once and for all. Jesus, however,

sums up all the good that was and

will be and so replaces the Torah.

Today’s gospel shows Jesus promis-

ing the coming of the Holy Spirit, the “advocate” and

“comforter” who will guide the apostles – and the

Church through them – in all truth. We are that

Church and although often ridiculed and persecuted

and labeled “reactionary” when we speak out in the

name of truth, we must remain true to the liberating

revelation of Jesus Christ. He still guides the Church

as the Holy Spirit is still with us. The gospel is joy-

filled and liberating if only we follow it. Regardless of

the worlds’ opposition and the hurt it can cause, let

us remain firm in our commitment. Let us live in

confidence that the Lord is with us. God bless and

guide you all.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERSQUESTIONS & ANSWERS Q. Were St. Barnabas and St. Mark among the

original Apostles?

A. Well, St. Mark, evangelist and bishop of Alexan-

dria, was one of the seventy disciples and his

cousin Barnabas was one of the earliest Apostles

but neither were among the original twelve.

Greetings,

Congratulations to our Confirmation and First Communion students! It was truly an honor working with these wonderful individuals who are such great assets not only to our parish family but to our community as well. I’m not only thankful for the students and the great commitment they made to the program, but also the parents, the first teachers of the faith. They help guide and strengthen their children’s faith as they grow in their daily walk of knowing, loving, and serving our Lord. During the Easter season, we sing Psalm 118, “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad!” These are beautiful days to rejoice for the great gifts our Lord gave us in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and in the Holy Eucharist. Let us continue to pray for our Confirmation and First Communion students. May they be ever mindful of God’s presence within their lives as they seek to know, love, and serve him all the days of their lives.

Peace and prayers,

Mr. Bloom
