CONGRATULATIONS JESSIE, JACK AND ELLIE

The Wardell family is expecting their second child in December. Jessie has reduced her allotment for the rest of Term Two but expects to be back to three days per week in Term Three. Robyn Andersen is taking STEM class on Tuesdays and Gr.45H on Friday afternoons. Congratulations Jessie, Jack and Ellie!

SSG MEETINGS—BOOKINGS HAVE OPENED

For students currently on Individual Learning Plans, we will be holding our Term Two Student Support Group Meetings during Week 10, 19, 21 and 22 June. This will ensure the most up-to-date assessments can be discussed and plans adapted accordingly for Term Three. Bookings are now open on SENTRAL.

SCHOOL REVIEW PROCESS

Our four yearly review will begin on 2nd August and conclude on 14th August. The review involves evaluating the 2014-2018 Strategic Plan to evaluate our targets and consider why they were or were not met. The process involves consultation with the whole school community, including parent and student forums. A rigorous accountability process will also be undertaken to ensure the school’s policies and operations are aligned with VRQA standards, including child-safe standards. The outcome of the review process is a new 2018-2022 Strategic Plan. Please watch this space for forum invitations.

LOCKWOOD PS PLAYGROUP - FRIDAY 9-11AM

Mel Scoble will be running playgroup every Friday, 9.00am—11.00am. The program will support children's preparation for kinder. Parents with pre-school children are encouraged to attend. For families with 2019 Preps, playgroup is a great way for your kindergarten child to begin making friends in preparation for next year at school. Bookings are not required. Just come along with your pre-schooler. Existing Lockwood PS families with pre-schoolers, are encouraged to use this service. It would be great if you could promote our Playgroup with your neighbours and friends. ALL WELCOME! Our service is supported by Playgroup Victoria Inc.

REPORTS + STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES

This year, we will be trialling “Student Led Conferences” following the distribution of Semester One reports, to foster student voice and ownership of their learning. Parents will receive Semester One Reports on Monday 25th June. At student-led conferences, students will share their Semester One goals and work samples. There will be an opportunity at the end of the conference to discuss any concerns with the teacher. Similar to our local secondary colleges, students’ final full day of classes will be on Thursday 28th June. On Friday 29th June, students will attend school at their allocated conference time. Conference bookings will be via the SENTRAL portal and will be available at the following times:

Thursday 28th June—4.00-8.00pm Friday 29th June—9.00-2.30pm

Bookings will open on Sentral on Tuesday 19th June. OSHC will be available on Friday 29th June, 7.00am-6.00pm if there are 10+ bookings

MAGGI GRAVY FUNDRAISER

Our Maggi Gravy fundraiser is now on. The gravy is available in 1kg and 2kg tubs of gravy powder. This is delicious, catering quality gravy available for a great price, with 15% of proceeds being returned to the school. Order forms are available at the office till 15th June. Thanks to Kim Hanson for organising this event.

ELMORE EQUESTRIAN INTERSCHOOLS

LIBRARY HELPERS

We’re in need of a team of parents who can spend 15 minutes tidying up the library at the end of each day. It would mean arriving a little earlier for pick up. If you can help, please add your name to the sheet on the library door. Thanks!

DRUM LESSONS RESUME FOR 2018

Dave Dewar has one more space for drum lessons. Dave is a very experienced music teacher and charges $20 for a 30 minute 1:1 drum lesson. The school provides the drum kit. Please see the office if you wish to enrol for lessons.

PLEASE UPDATE STUDENT MEDICAL PLANS

We have several students with asthma, allergies and other medical conditions who have outdated plans on file. These documents need to be updated by parents in consultation with their GP every year. Please provide an updated plan asap.

Reminders from The Office: WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS

Our Child Safe Policy requires every person who volunteers at the school and has contact with the children, holds a current Working with Children Check—including camps, excursions, gym, swimming and classroom/excursion helpers. WWCCs are FREE for volunteers and can be obtained online at: http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/home/applications/apply+for+a+check/apply+in+victoria OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS CARE

As most of you would be aware as of 2nd July this year, there is a change to the Subsidy that you receive for Child Care (this includes the OSHC). ALL families that receive any Child Care Benefit and/or Child Care Rebate for approved care, should have received a notifi-cation from Centrelink requesting them to go online and complete an assessment or apply for a subsidy. I have been advised, that If you do not complete this assess-ment you will NOT receive child care fee assistance from 2nd July 2018. I would encourage everyone that uses Lockwood PS OSHC, to ensure that they have already completed the assessment or do so, as soon as possible, so that their benefits continue without any ‘hiccups’. If you need any information in regards to the process you can visit – education.gov.au/childcare. PARENT VOLUNTEERS

This term, we’ll be seeking volunteers for the Bunnings BBQ on 24th June. Sign up sheets are now on the office win-dow. A reminder that every family is required to volunteer at least once per year. Thanks! Emma Birch—Volunteers Coordinator Term 2 Uniform Orders
