On behalf of our entire faculty, we are delighted to invite you to
join us in Williamsburg, VA, this fall for our 6th Annual Urology
Today Conference. This is an opportunity to share best practices
and perspectives with urologists from across the country. We have
assembled an outstanding faculty, and you are sure to come away
with valuable insights and information to enhance your clinical and
surgical skills.
More than 30 talks and panels will focus on all aspects of best
practices, from diagnosis and surgical techniques to managing
complications. For information on CME credits, see the “Course
Details” section of this brochure.
The course schedule leaves plenty of time to enjoy the beauty and
activities of Williamsburg and to network with colleagues. Please
note that to receive conference room rates, you should make your

Course DescriptionThis annual course is designed to improve and update the knowledge base of urologists. The emphasis is on new technology and evidence-based outcomes. Modules based on subspecialties of urology such as uro-oncology, urolithiasis, surgical management, men’s health and voiding disorders are covered by nationally recognized faculty.
GoalsThe attendee will be familiar with the best practice guidelines for managing a wide variety of urologic conditions and will be updated on the latest surgical treatments, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques.
ObjectivesAt the conclusion of this CME activity, the learner should be better able to: • Selectappropriatepatientsfor
male and female genitourinary reconstruction.
• Safelyuseenergysourcesinendoscopic lithotripsy.
• Informpatientsastothebest practice regarding early detection of prostate cancer.

Special Honoree Dean Assimos, MD, will be honored as the 2012 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award. This is the highest honor Wake Forest School of Medicine’s De-partment of Urology can bestow
upon any graduate or trainee and is awarded to individuals whose contributions to the profession are notable and merit special recognition. Dr. As-simos completed a fellowship at Wake Forest and was awarded an American Urological Association Research Scholar Award to continue his research at Wake Forest. During his career, Dr. Assimos has made significant contributions that have literally changed how stones are managed and treated. We congratulate Dr. Assimos on his new position starting this fall as the Chair of Urology at the Uni-versity of Alabama. Join us as we celebrate his outstanding career.
