1. ORGANIZATIONRaces will be organized by Yacht Club Italiano under the aegis of the Federazione Italiana Vela, the

Fédération Française de Voile and in collaboration with:

The Rolex Giraglia is a valid Race of the French Championship Méditerranée IRC UNCL.

The IMA (International Maxi Association) is proud to include the Rolex Giraglia in its 2020 race

calendar. The offshore race comprises part of the 2020 Mediterranean Maxi Offshore Challenge. The

inshore races are part of the 2020 Mediterranean Maxi Inshore Challenge.

The Rolex Giraglia valid for The Nations Legue 2020, only for Swan One Desig (ClubSwan 50’,

ClubSwan 42’, ClubSwan 36’)

2. RULESThe regatta will be governed by the rules as defi ned in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS 2017-2020).

• The WS Offshore Special Regulations (OSR) 2020-2021 Category 4 for Inshore Races and Category

3 including liferafts for Sanremo – St. Tropez and Rolex Giraglia/Rolex Giraglia for 2.

• The prescriptions of the National Authority FFV will apply for the Inshore Races.

• The prescriptions of the National Authority FIV will apply for the Sanremo – St. Tropez regatta, the

Rolex Giraglia and Rolex Giraglia for 2.

• All notices (deletion or addition) of Race Committee and of Organizing Committee also to the

Notice of Race

• The Notice of Race.

• The Sailing Instructions.

• IRC Rules 2020 Part A, B e C (IRC-0: no crew weight restriction, just crew number)

Canting keels, moveable appendages and water ballast are permitted if declared on the rating or

class certifi cate (changes RRS 51).

Steering, ram and winch systems powered by force other than manual are permitted. Change to RRS

52.

Electric or electronic devices of any kind are permitted.


3. ADVERTISINGAdvertising shall be displayed in accordance with Regulation 20 – World Sailing Advertising Code.

Class rules on advertising shall be respected. [DP]

4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIESThe regatta is open to all boats certifi ed IRC or ORC/ORC Club ≥ 9,14 meters of the following Groups:

Group 0 (ORC 0 & IRC 0):

- LOA ≥ 18,05 Meters

Group A (ORC A & IRC A):

- Classes: 0 – 1 – 2

Group B (ORC B & IRC B):

- Classes: 3 – 4

Club Swan One Design (50’ - 42’ - 36’)

Class Maxi (IRC-0) may be divided into sub-classes based on the number and type of boats. Based

on the IMA Class Rule D.2 and/or event specifi c choices potential sub-classes may include Maxi 1 and

Maxi 2 based on the IMA “sub-class formula LH/TCC^2.

A minimum of 4 boats is required for separate (sub-)class scoring, unless the minimum is waived by

the Organizing Committee.

Class Maxi (IRC-0) or its sub-classes and Class ORC-0 may be combined for starts to guarantee the

best possible competition.

Boats shall enter only one of the classes. Dual registration is not permitted. Changing class is not

permitted after the entry due date.

Eligible boats may enter only online to www.yachtclubitaliano.it (Swan One Design 50’ -42’ – 36’

excluded and manageddirectlybytheClass) no later than 11 pm May 12th 2020, together with the entry

fee and a copy of the Measurement Certifi cate.

Late entries (arrived after the due date) may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing

Committee with a 100% surcharge on the entry fee, in any event not after May 20th 2020.

All entries arrived without the entry fee will not be refi ned.

To all the boats whose inscriptions will be arrived and perfected (with relative entry fee) by March 29th

2020, a free mooring place will be guaranteed up to the availability of the port of Saint Tropez and

Marines de Cogolin.

When completing the online registration, competitors must register for each regatta in which they

intend to participate


5. ENTRY FEEThe single registration fee is inclusive of all regattas (see point 6) regardless of the number in which you

intend to participate:

• Group A Euro 1.550,00

The payment of the entry fee must be made online on the website: www.yachtclubitaliano.it . excluding

Swan One Design (50’ -42’ – 36’) excluded and managed directly by the Class.

7. MEASUREMENTS AND SAFETYEach boat shall produce a valid measurement certifi cate (IRC-0: Endorsed) with its entry. A copy of the

certifi cate shall be received by the Race Offi ce no later than May 26th 2020. Measurement certifi cates dated

after June 4th, 2020 will not be accepted.

The Race Committee holds the right to conduct inspections on board boats before and after each race

8. IDENTIFICATIONRRS 77 and Appendix G - “Identifi cation on sails” apply.


Boats not carrying numbers on their sails or carrying numbers that are not identifi able (both day and

night) or different from those under which they registered will be scored DNS without hearing and

without previous warning. (this changes RRS 63.1).

9. SAILING INSTRUCTIONSSanremo:

Sailing Instructions will be available for competitors at the Race Offi ce at Yacht Club Sanremo from 3

pm on Thursday June 4th 2020

St. Tropez:

Sailing Instructions will be available for competitors at the Race Offi ce at St. Tropez from 3 pm Friday

June 5th 2020.

10. COURSESSanremo – St. Tropez Race:

Sanremo – St. Tropez

Inshore Races (St. Tropez):

Windward-Leeward courses and coastal courses with a maximum length of 35 miles in the bay of

Saint Tropez and inshore.

For Group 0 (Inshore Races St. Tropez) a mix of coastal (1 coastal day) and WL races (2 WL days, max 2

races per day) are scheduled.

For Groups A and B a maximum of three coastal races is scheduled.

For Swan One Design (50’ -42’ – 36’) a maximum of 2 WL races per race day is scheduled. The

Organizing Committee and/or Race Committee reserve the right to modify the schedule.

Rolex Giraglia/Rolex Giraglia x 2:

Saint Tropez – La Fourmigue - Giraglia – Genoa.

11. SCORINGThe “Low Point” scoring system of Appendix A will apply. All races will be valid, no discard.

12. BERTHINGAt Sanremo, boats will be moored free of charge until exhaustion of available places until the end of

the available places at the Yacht Club Sanremo, under the responsibility of the owner or the skipper

from the Weekend prior to the Sanremo – St. Tropez Race (May 30th-31st) to the start of the Race

(evening of June 05th).

Boats will be moored free of charge, in the harbour of Saint Tropez and Marine de Cogolin, under the


responsibility of the owner or the skipper, according to availability of space, from June 6th, 2020 from

12 am until 9th June 2020 at 12.00am.

( Friday June 5th and previous days mooring places may be available with payment , by directly

contacting the harbour- offi ce of Saint Tropez and Marine de Cogolin).

The assignment of mooring places will be according to the order in which the entry forms

accompanied by the related entry fee were received. Priority will be given to boats participating in

all events (Sanremo – St. Tropez + Inshore Races + Rolex Giraglia), and after the boats registered only

for Rolex Giraglia (Offshore).

The mooring of the boats is conditional authorization by the Port Authority.

In Genoa boats will be moored free of charge, under the responsibility of the owner or skipper, until

June 14th 2020.

A bus service will be organized on Saturday 06th and Tuesday 09th June 2020 for competitors

participating to the Rolex Giraglia, leaving at 12pm Y.C.I. - Porticciolo Duca degli Abruzzi (Genoa) and

schedule to arrive at the harbour of Saint Tropez. If necessary, the bus will make a stop in Sanremo.

Competitors who are interested shall contact the Yacht Club Italiano at the latest May 28th 2020 to

reserve a seat on the bus.

13. PRIZES

• Sanremo – St. Tropez Race:

Prize to 1st, 2nd and 3rd scored Overall in classes IRC – ORC/ORC Club.

Challenge Gavagnin Trophy to 1st scored Overall in the most numerous Class within IRC and ORC/

ORC Club.

• Inshore Races (St. Tropez):

“Group 0”:

Prize to 1st, 2nd and 3rd scored in IRC or ORC/ORC Club Classes.

Ville de Saint Tropez Trophy to 1st scored in the Class with most boats completing at least one race

within IRC and ORC/ORC Club.

“Group A” & “Group B”

Prize to 1st, 2nd and 3rd scored in IRC or ORC/ORC Club Classes.

“Club Swan One Design” (50’ - 42’ - 36’’):

Prize to 1st, 2nd and 3rd scored in respective Classes.

Rolex Giraglia:

• Challenge Rolex Trophy will be awarded to the 1st scored Overall in the Class IRC.

• The Challenge Nucci Novi Trophy will be awarded to the fi rst scored Overall in the Class ORC/ORC

Club.

• Prize to 2nd and 3rd scored Overall in IRC or ORC/ORC Club Classes.


Special Prizes:

• Rolex Trophy: The fi rst classifi ed in elapsed time - Rolex Trophy Line Honour and Réné

Levainville Trophy

• The fi rst classifi ed in elapsed time to have broken the Record – Record Cup.

• The fi rst yacht to round the Giraglia rock – Beppe Croce Trophy.

• Sergio Guazzotti Trophy to the fi rst boat owned by a Member of Yacht Club Italiano, scored

Overall in the Class with the most boats completing the race within IRC and ORC/ORC Club.

• IMA Trophy to the fi rst boat owned by an IMA member scored in IRC.

• The Yacht Club de France and the Yacht Club Italiano will award a special prize to the best scoring

boat from of the Navy.

• Rolex Trophy: the boat that will have obtained the best result among IRC / ORC ORC Club for the

largest group that has participated in all the regattas (Sanremo - St. Tropez + Coastal Regattas +

Rolex Giraglia). The ranking based on the number of boats beaten in each race.

Rolex Giraglia Classic (Offshore):

Boats built before 1985 registered IRC and ORC / ORC Club without distinction of construction

materials.

1. The YCI Heritage Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the fi rst boat classifi ed Overall, in the

largest Class between IRC and ORC / ORC Club (of the Classic only).

2. The fi rst boat classifi ed in Real Time will be awarded the YCI Classic Trophy

• Rolex Giraglia x 2:

Prize to 1st, 2nd and 3rd scored Overall in IRC - ORC/ORC Club classes.

• Combined (Inshore Races St. Tropez + Rolex Giraglia):

“Group 0”:

- Prize to 1st scored IRC.

- Prize to 1st scored ORC/ORC Club.

- Bellon Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the boat 1st scored in the Class with the most boats

within IRC and ORC/ORC Club.

“Group A”:



- Marco Paleari Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the boat 1st scored in the Class with the most

boats within IRC and ORC/ORC Club.

“Group B”:

Prize to 1st scored in respective Classes


14. PRIZE-GIVINGThe offi cial prize-giving ceremony of all regattas with the delivery of Rolex Trophies and Challenge

Trophies, will be on June 13, 2020 in Genoa at the Yacht Club Italiano.

Prizes not collected at the prize giving ceremonies will not be delivered.

15. SOCIAL EVENTSCompetitors will be informed about social events by a notice posted on the offi cial notice board.

16. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITYCompetitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4 “Decision to Race” of

the RR WS 2017-2020 and Rule 1.02.1 of the Offshore Special Regulations.

The Organizing Authority (see point 1 of the Notice of Race) will not accept any liability for material

damage or personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the

regatta.

17. INSURANCEEach participating boat shall be adequately insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a

minimum cover of Euro 1.500.000,00 is required by the FIV General Regulation. For offshore races

involving night sailing, an additional insurance cover for each crew member is highly recommended.

18. VHF RADIO–TRACKINGBoats taking part in the Rolex Giraglia shall have on board a VHF transceiver in working order at least

on channels 16, 69, 72, 73 and 74.

Special radio detectors for a “Tracking Online” service (Offshore Race) may be installed on boats, at

the expense of the Organization, in accordance with the Privacy law Art. 20 of Law n. 675/96, which

allows the transfer of data to Yacht Club Italiano and for the sole purpose of sending information.
