Mark your calendars for 2019 GOSEEDOSaturday April 20. 2019The Grand Hall at Power & Light

A Message from the Drake FamilyYou never know where life will take you and what is aroundthe next curve on the road of life. The road twists and turnswhile the road rises with mountain top highs and falls into the cavernous lows as we travel on life’s journey. The lowscan be tough to endure. The loss of Aaron was one of themajor lows in our lives.

The impact of the Harbur’s decision to create a vibrant organization and advance the mission of saving those whoare waiting for an organ has changed more lives than we will ever know. We want to thank the Harbur family from the bottom of our hearts for their selfless gift to us all!

FONDLY, KRIS DRAKE & FAMILY

A Message from the Harbur FamilyStarting Gift of Life was our way of saying “thank you” for the gift we “receivedfrom the Drake family that saved our son, Luke. Two little boys, Luke and Aaron, one big story. No one could have anticipated the impact that Melody and KrisDrake’s decision to donate Aaron’s liver to Luke would have on us and on ourcommunity.

Gift of Life continues to be a place where we support and save one life at a timethrough education and mentoring. We create a space where heartfelt storiesare told. We create a space where hope becomes a reality and lives are savedand enhanced.

Twenty years is a long time. We did not walk this path alone: all of you walkedwith us…and for the journey we have taken together…we thank each of you.

WITH GRATITUDE, NATE & KIM HARBUR

•Transplant Mentors & Life Savers

Moving ForwardThe Transplant Mentors program has partnered with the University of Kansas Health

System for an academic study. The first of its kind, the study will focus on correlatingmentorship with transplant patients and their health outcomes. Gift of Life continues to

be a place where there is support and work to save one life at a time through education andmentoring; a place where stories can be told; a place where hope becomes a reality.

Thanks to State Representative Steve Cookson and the Governor’s Organ Donation Council. OnJuly 6th, Gov. Mike Parson signed House Bill 2129 seeking to increase education opportunitieson organ, eye and tissue donation for high school students in Missouri. Under the law, when astate or nationally recognized organization requests to make a presentation on organ, eye andtissue donation, the school board must allow thirty minutes for the presentation. The goal is forschool boards to recognize the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation education andthen take action.

In response to the bill, the marketing firm VML and the Media & Public Relations Department at The University of Kansas Health System have partnered with Gift of Life and donated servicesto create an online version of the Gift of Life, Life Savers high school classroom program. Theonline program, “Learn Life Savers”, will be accessible to teachers beginning August 2019.*
