Some Questions and Facts ConcerningDrinking and Driving
WHY ARE PENALTIES FOR DRINKING AND DRIVING SO STRICT?
Drinking and driving is a hazardous combination.CONSIDER THESE FACTS:• One third of the fatalities in New York State involve impaired
or intoxicated drivers and pedestrians,• With increased Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), crash risk increases sharply. A driver with a BAC of 0.08 is four times as likely to cause a crash as a driver who has not been drinking, while a driver with a BAC of 0.16 is 25 times as likely to do so.
• Young drinking drivers are at the highest risk of all. Drivers 20 years old or younger are almost three times as likely to be involved in alcohol related fatal crashes than other drivers.HOW MUCH CAN I DRINK BEFORE IT AFFECTS MY DRIVING ABILITY?Any amount of drinking will begin to affect your judgment and coordination,, and reduce your abilityto judge distances, speeds and angles. The degree of impairment depends on four basic factors:1. The amount you drink.2. Whether you’ve eaten before or while drinking (food slows absorption).3. Your body weight.4. The length of time spent drinking. No one should consume alcohol and drive. Everyone’s safe driving ability deteriorates after drinking. Some people, especially young drivers, lose their driving skills even more quickly. This is why New York State law makes it illegal for any driver or passenger to possess an alcoholic beverage with intent to consume (commonly called the “open container” law).It is also illegal to purchase an alcoholic beverage if you are under 21 years old.WHAT IS THE QUICKEST WAY TO SOBER UP?The only way to reduce your BAC after drinking, is to wait for your body to metabolize (eliminate) the alcohol – and that takes several hours. Your body metabolizes about one drink each hour. Coffee willnot sober you up. Neither will a walk or a cold shower. They may make you feel more awake, but you will be just as impaired, and it will be just as dangerous for you to drive.ARE LICENSE PENALTIES THE SAME FOR ALL AGE GROUPS?No. If you are under 21 your driver license will be revoked for one year if you are convicted of DWI or DWAI that occurred in New York State, or in any other state or a province of Canada. If you commit a second such offense while you are under 21, your license will be revoked for at least one year or until you are 21, whichever is longer. If you enroll in the Drinking Driver Program (DDP) and receive a conditional license, your license will remain in conditional status for the original full period of revocation.Your driver license or privilege of applying for a license will also be suspended if you are found gulity of using a New York State Driver License or Non-Driver Identification Card as proof of age to illegally purchase alcoholic beverages.
NOTE: Motorboat and snowmobile operators under 21 years old who drink alcohol are subject to similar penaltiesand sanctions against their motorboat or snowmobile operating privileges.

Do You Make These Deadly Mistakes With Arthritis?Hornell--There are three common and deadly serious mistakes people make when it comes to the pain of arthritis.
First--believing that they have to keep living with pain--so they take tons of risky pills--some so dangerous they get pulled off the market. Second, a lot of folks are certain they have arthritis when they really don’t. Such constant, stubborn pain couldn’t be anything else, right? No way! And third, they’ve given up the lives they love--no more peaceful walks, golf with friends, dancing with their honey and they decide to sit home while the “gang” is out at the fitness center. And because they’ve stopped moving, they get worse--but a lot faster.
Amazing Good News For Arthritis SufferersIt’s a tragedy when you stop moving, because movement gives nourishment to stiff joints, keeps your heart healthy and makes you feel younger. Giving up what you love may be completely unnecessary because of a breakthrough treatment. It’s called Progressive Rehab, and it’s only available at your local HealthSource office. It’s the most powerful arthritis program ever developed, and it is NOT the same-old, same-old.
What This Amazing Program Is Not• NOT some hyped-up herbal promise to make you stronger, younger and able to leap tall buildings overnight• NOT some burning, greasy cream to make you stink like a locker room.• NOT about outdated, painful chiropractic or physical therapy• NOT some dangerous pills, painkillers or muscle relaxers that have you feeling a little better---AS YOUR BODY ACTUALLY GETS WORSE.
You see, all the well-meaning advice from family, friends and even the family doctor is just fine, but if they don’t know about Progressive Rehab,
they’re behind the times. Because combining the best therapy secrets from chiropractors, trainers and therapists takes healing to a whole new level.
7 Warning Signs If You Think You Have ArthritisIt’s very important to be on the alert for any signs of arthritis, because if left alone, or covered up with pills, you can get a lot worse without realizing it. So here’s what to look for--even if you’re only slightly curious about having arthritis:• Stiffness or aching in neck or back • Catching, grinding or clicking • Sharp, jabbing or shooting pain • Tingling, numbness or crawling feelings • Avoiding quick movement’ • Deep boring pain in your joints • Tenderness in your muscles
The good news is, even if you’re in agony, these types of problems are often NOT caused by arthritis--and are often easy to correct. So to find out if we can provide the same relief for YOU as we do for hundreds of other patients, it’s important to find out:
How Do You Know If Your Pain Can Be Stopped?Well, you don’t--that is until we figure out WHY you’re in pain in the first place, and it’s not always easy, which is why we insist upon an extremely detailed, 19 point ARTHRITIS Qualifying Examination, where we look at • Pelvic/Neck balance • Tendons and ligaments • Reflexes, aching • Orthopedic Tests • Nerve entrapment/joint stiffness• Spasm/pain/painful movement • Chronis stiffness/tingling • Muscle knots
And once we’ve gone over your problem with a fine-toothed comb, you’ll have a private consultation where we will discuss all of the exam findings, answer questions and give you an action plan for getting rid of your pain---fast!
Why A $10 Exam If It Is Worth $189?Because so many people put off getting help--they just pop a few pills and plan to do something tomorrow...or next week. But the longer you wait, the more difficult it is to help you--so, we want you to call us NOW. And since you should be a bit skeptical about anything new, we feel it’s our job to prove ourselves without you taking any risk.
That’s why I’ve designed this $10 exam the way I’d like it myself--so there’s absolutely no obligation and you make no commitments by only finding out about your pain. Besides, since I’ve treated literally hundreds of folks with every kind of back pain imaginable, it’s my mission to get as many people out of pain as possible---and that won’t happen unless you can see Progressive Rehab in action...because seeing is believing.
