Instructions:

-Place10conesofplastictwineunderthemachineandthreadthetwinethroughtheholesattherearofthemachine(17).

-Liftandremovethetensionbar(19)attherearofthemachine.

-Threadthetwinethroughtheslots(18),throughthetwinetighteningroller(15)andthroughthetwinefeederbar(14).

-Replacethetensionbar(19).

-Slide10emptyreelsontheaxle(16),pushthetwineintheslot(20)ofeachreel.Placethewasher(21)attheendoftheaxle,thenfastenusinganM10nut(22).(NOTE!IfusingaCordlessDrillwitha17mmsocketwrench,don’tscrewtootightly).Spintheaxle1-2rotationstomakesurethatthetwinesarecorrectlypositioned.

-Setthesafetyswitch(6)totheonposition.

-Youcanonlystartthemachinewhenthesafetycover(?)isdown.Ifthemachinedoesn’tstart,checkthepositionoftheemergencystop(2);thestopmustbeturnedclockwisetorelease,ifithasbeenactivated.

-Thelengthofthetwinehasbeensetto54m.Thiscanbechangedusingthetimer(5)ifneeded.

Service:

-Daily:removeanyplasticdustusingavacuumcleaner.(Note!Plasticdustisnotgoodforhealth,andmaydamagethetwinetighteningroller(15).

-Weekly:dropsomeoilintothefourholes(10)ofthetwinefeederbar(14)

-Monthly:presssomeVaselinetothetwobearingsoftheaxel(9)(Note!Liftoffthecoverbox(?)beforedoingthis).AtthesamecheckthetensionoftheV-belt(11).

-AdjustmentoftheV-belt:loosenthetwonutsonthemotoradjustmentbase(behindthemotor)NotethatthesenutsareNOTshowninthepictures!Next,loosentheV-beltadjustmentnut(8).Pushthemotordownuntilyouhavetherighttensiononthebelt,(thebeltshouldstretchabout5mmwhenthemiddleofthebeltispushedwithafinger).TightentheV-beltadjustmentnut.Tightenthetwonutsonthemotoradjustmentbase.

Thehigh-wiresystemisthemostcommonmethodusedintheNordiccountriesforgrowingcucumbers.Formanyyears,themostcommonvariationofthismethodhasbeentousea25x25mmsquareprofilesteelpipeastheupperbarwithpermanenttreadrollsattached.

Byrotatingthispipetheentirerowcanbelowered,orevenallrowsatonetime,whichisextremelyfastcomparedtothethreadhooksusedearlier.However,thedrawbackwiththismethodisthatsincesomeplantsgrowslower,thetopscanbeofdifferentheights.Thisinturndecreasestheharvestsincealltheplantswon’treceivethesameamountoflight.Inaddition,differencesintopheightsmakethemaintenanceworkslower.
