Pledge to the Flag: Everyone: led by Ken Hart.Moment of Silence: Every-

one.

Welcome: Visitor John Horne heard about us at the Lively Car Show and

decided to attend. He has a 1985 Ferrari 308. He joined after the meeting.

Not a new member, but new to meetings was Dewey Riou, who advised

that he a retired law enforcement officer and owns a 1955 Buick Special.

Randy Free ([email protected]) from Lively Technical Center who gra-

ciously offered the current meeting space, set up, food prep, clean up, etc.,

(thank you Randy Free, everyone was very pleased), introduced Shelly Bell,

as the personal whose approved was needed to make all of this happen. Ms. Bell was enthusiastically welcomed. He also introduced Benny the

Chef (whose cuisine was a hit with members). The table configuration will

be fixed for the next meeting.

Craig Brown announced that a national Award of Merit was received by

the Club for its website. The award was to Ken Hart as president of the

Club

50/50 Drawing: Half to club half to winner. Congratulations.

Announcements & Reports: The Club continues to need additional mem-

bers to participate on Committees. Committees can meet as needed.

Randy Free provided an update on the 1st annual Lively Show last Saturday

3/318. He reported that it was a good day, the purpose was to bring people

on campus. There were 101 participants and over 500 attendees. He wel-comes suggestions for next year’s show which will be March 2, 2019. He

provided a beautiful plaque made by Lively students to Jack Hanbury who

was instrumental in making the car show happen.

Pam Pumphrey reported on their attendance at the DaySpring Car Show

in Marianna which was great. She was excited that the Mark Poole family won the People’s Choice award (1931 Model A) and the fact that they also

spent their time handing out the Club’s Honor Flight Car Show flyers.

Committee Reports:

Sunshine: Pam Pumphrey was unaware of anyone needing a card. She happily an-

nounced that it was Lori Forster’s birthday and everyone sang happy birthday.

Treasurer's Report: Norm Madsen presented the treasurer’s report. Details can be

obtained from Norm.

Tour Committee: The tour committee met and has planned a number of tours for 2018. Norm informed members that there would be no tours in March or April but be-

ginning in May the following are in the works:

May 11-12: Great Southern Antique Car Rally, Davis Park, Cairo, Georgia. Ad-

ditional info is on the Club’s website calendar. It will include a tour of Wayne and Rosa

Ann Hadden’s museum.

June 16: Watermelon Fest in Monticello.

June 30: Driving tour to new location of Camp Gordon Johnson. Don and

Chantel Romaine are in charge.

July 14: Jack Hanbury will be hosting a garage mystery tour. There is no regu-

lar Club meeting in July due to location conflicts and this outing will include a picnic to

substitute for the July meeting. Details to follow. Jack Hanbury is in charge.

August 18: There will be a driving tour to Quincy and Bristol. Breakfast will be in Quincy (organized by Mark Poole) after which the tour will continue to the Veterans

Memorial Railroad in Bristol (organized by John Schanbacher) and conclude at the Gulf

Station in Quincy to honor Bobby Hollingsworth. Mark Poole and John Schanbacher

are in charge.

September 22-23: There will be a two-day overnight tour to Americus, Geor-gia. It is anticipation members will stay at the Windsor Hotel (subject to availability)

and will include a trip to the Andersonville Historic Site. Norm Madsen is in charge.

October 20: There will be a tour to the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and

Historic Village in Tifton, Georgia. It is an indoor and outdoor venue. Norm Madsen

and another member are in charge. Yes, the Forest Festival in Perry is in October, but

it is held the last weekend in October so there should be no conflict.

November 4: Annual Chili Supper and Auction at the Pumphrey Farm in

Quincy. Pam Pumphrey and others are in charge.

December _: John Wells is planning a tour “toward the west” to include

a visit to Dr. James Sheppard’s collection of restored John Deere tractors. John

Wells is in charge.

Show Committee:

The Watermelon Festival is the third weekend in June. Craig McCollum is always

in need of gifts, trophies, and other donations.

Honor Flight Car and More Show, March 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pam Pumphrey

gave a detailed update. There is an ad for the Car Show in the Talquin Current magazine

which reaches 40,000 homes; thanks Norm for the advance copy. Donated billboard space advertising the Car Show can now be seen on the digital billboard located at Park

and Magnolia. Pam and Mac Kemp of Honor Flight will be on the noon day show with Art

Myers on WCTV on March 19. Pam’s needs include: goodie bag “stuff”, volunteers to

stuff goodie bags one day the week before the show (a signup sheet was circulated), and

raffle prizes. Participants and their vehicles should be there between 8:30 and 9:00 on March 24; the winner (chosen by local veterans selected) will be announced at noon. Two

tents are need (10 x 10 popups); Seth from JPII offered two and advised that JPII would

have a tent of their own to get out information about the school and their program. Pam

advised of her plan for raffle tickets (remember all money goes to Honor Flight); car show/honor flight t-shirts have been donated and will be on sale of $15 and participants

will receive a $3 off coupon with their registration. Jack Hanbury, John Schanbacher, Reu-

ben Plachy, and Anne Stallings each offered a cash box to be used by volunteers at tents

selling items. The question of security was raised due to the amounts of money being

collected and handled.

Ken Hart suggested purchasing a few Club shirts to encourage sales. Upon motion

by Don Pumphrey and second by Norm Madsen which was unanimously passed, author-

ized the Board to spend up to $500 to purchase shirts. Don and Chantal Romaine will get

details to Ken on cost, sizes, and how quickly they can be provided. Jenny Hart suggested

purchasing drink koozies with Club information on them. Upon motion by Phil Reichert and second by Kathy Madsen which was unanimously passed authorized the Board to

spend up to $200 to purchase drink koozies. It is hoped that the koozies will cost approxi-

mately $1 each.

Other Committees:

Old Business:

New Business: Lively Technical Center is now the meeting location of the Club for the

foreseeable future. The club has signed an agreement and provided insurance through June 2018. Ken Hart anticipates the agreement will be renewed after July as it is aligned

with the Leon County school year. Chef Benny indicated they can vary the menu and pro-

vide almost any cuisine with costs varying as necessary. Most meals will be in the $10 to

$12 range. He also indicated they could do the Christmas party if we so desire. There was

very vocal agreement that the Christmas party should be held at the Lively location. The only times Lively will not be available to the Club is July and during school spring breaks.

July 2018 is covered by Jack Hanbury’s picnic and Mystery Garage Tour (see above).

Officers for 2019. The Board has approved a motion to have the club provide

membership dues to all elected 2019 officers. This would include President, Vice Presi-dent, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter Editor and Webmaster. The Board is in charge of

the nomination process and will meet further to complete this process.

John Wells advised of cars he is aware of for sale and will provide details to be in-

cluded in the next newsletter.

Reuben Plachy announced that the Springtime Tallahassee 2018 Breakfast in the Park will be on March 21 from 6:30 – 10:00 a.m. in Lewis Park in the Chain of Parks; he has

tickets ($8) if anyone is interested.

Program: Photos from the National Car Show ran on the large screen tv throughout the

meeting.

Next Meeting:

The next meeting will be Tuesday April 10, 2018, at Lively Technical Center at the

same location as the March 6 meeting. Randy Free assured that the table configu-

ration would be fixed in time for the next meeting. If attendance continues to

grow, the meeting can be held in the next room, which is the cafeteria. The meet-

ing rooms are on campus in their culinary school center which is in Building 3. Please see previous emails for directions. Dinner will be at 6 pm.
