Connotations of the Masthead – the fashion could represent models being tall and slim.

What meaning is added with the interaction between anchorage and photos - ‘gwen stefani’ is the anchorage and the image is also of gwen.

What lifestyles are hinted at in taglines, kickers and use of language in general – people who are interested in fashion, women

What is regarded as most important on the cover and why you think this is – the image because it sums the whole magazine up in one photo

What tone / type of language is used – chatty, aimed at girls

How front covers are conceived and laid out

The colour scheme is mainly black, red and white. The colour scheme is different in every issue of the ‘Fashion’ magazine. The colour is related to the image because the woman in the image is wearing black clothing, she has red lipstick on and also has really white blonde hair.

Each different kicker on the magazine has a different font.

The woman in the image is using direct mode of address, which creates a welcoming feel to the audience.

The left third in the magazine dominates as there is a lot more writing etc. over that side of the magazine. The space used is very blocky and very much all the same.

I think the reason for the magazine to be designed how it is, is to attract a good audience, because the image is the main focus, and most people are attracted to the magazine because of the image. If the woman in the image is fashionable, which she is, it will attract an audience because that is the main purpose of the magazine.

The colour scheme is mainly blue, yellow and black. The colour scheme is different in every issue of the ‘Fashion’ magazine. The colour scheme isn’t really related to the image used in the magazine.

Each different kicker on the magazine has the same font.

The woman in the image is using direct mode of address, which creates a welcoming feel to the audience. However, she does seem to have a mysterious look to her, suggesting that the magazine is full of surprises.

There isn’t a dominant third on the magazine cover, the space is used equally. However, the space used is very blocky and very much all the same.

The colour scheme is mainly creams, browns, black and white. The colour scheme is different in every issue of the ‘Fashion’ magazine. The colour is related to the image because the woman is wearing the same similar colours and the main colour scheme.

Each different kicker on the magazine has a different font.

The woman in the image is using direct mode of address, and is also very smiley, which creates a welcoming feel to the audience.

There is no dominating third to the magazine, however the space used is very blocky and boring.

Direct mode of address can appear ‘in yer face’, serious, warm…

Indirect mode of address can be mysterious, lively, sombre…

Creates a wacky, fun image, sharing an identity with the reader that offers the ‘independence’ of indie music.

Enigma – what are they getting up to now?
