6TH ANNUAL ORLANDO LIVE EUS 2019 OVERVIEW The 6th Annual Orlando Live EUS 2019 will have six components to provide participants a comprehensive education in endosonography.

Diagnostic EUSProcedures will be demonstrated using the “station-based” approach for identification of normal structures and pathology, using both the radial and linear array echoendoscopes. The latest diagnostic methods such as contrast-enhanced imagery and elastography will be demonstrated.

Interventional EUSUsing a stepwise approach, the different techniques to perform celiac plexus interventions, pancreatic fluid collection drainage, biliary/gallbladder drainage, pancreatic cyst ablation, fiducial placement, varices obliteration, radiofrequency ablation and gastroentral anastomosis will be demonstrated.

EUS-guided Tissue Acquisition and CytopathologyThe key to success of an EUS program is in providing the best-quality samples in the most efficient manner. Proper selection of needles based on the presence or absence of an onsite cytopathologist are factors that determine the outcomes of EUS-guided tissue acquisition.

Centers with onsite cytopathology access: Several studies have shown that the diagnostic sensitivity of EUS-guided tissue acquisition is strongly associated with the availability of onsite cytopathology services. Participants will be educated on the best techniques to procure specimens with minimal bloodiness. This will include discussion about appropriate needle selection for sampling of solid and cystic lesions and education on the optimal specimen processing techniques. The utility of EUS-FNA and core biopsy needles will be discussed and demonstrated.

Centers without onside cytopathology access: For centers that do not have onsite cytopathology, the key to success is in providing adequate amounts of material to assure an accurate diagnosis. Participants will be educated about cell block, core biopsy, accessories used to procure specimens, medium required to collect core specimens, and most importantly, how to use a microscope and assess for specimen adequacy.

Didactic LecturesBreakfast sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to interact with expert faculty and gain first-hand knowledge in specific areas of interest. Luncheon sessions conducted by faculty will provide a comprehensive literature update on diagnostic and therapeutic EUS.

Hands-On WorkshopThe objective of this session is to teach participants how to (a) handle specimens, (b) operate microscopes, (c) assess for onsite diagnostic sufficiency, (d) learn the different techniques of FNA (standard, fanning, core biopsy) and (e) perform EUS-based interventions (celiac plexus neurolysis, fiducial/coil placement, pseudocyst and biliary ductal drainage).

Self-Assessment ExaminationInteresting videos and cases will be presented by the course directors in a quiz format. This will enable participants to self-evaluate their knowledge in endosonography.

The participant will only receive the MOC points upon successful completion (75% or higher) on post exam.

DEDICATED CYTOPATHOLOGY PROGRAMAugust 28 | 1:30-3:00 PMTopic: Everything an endosonographer needs to know about EUS-related pathology Faculty: Darshana Jhala, MD, B MUS, FCAP and Nirag C. Jhala, MD, MIAC

This 90-minute program for endosonographers, cytopathologists and technicians will include didactic lectures and round table discussions that provide tips to improve the quality of EUS-pathology service. This session will be particularly useful for centers that do not have access to onsite cytopathology support. The main focus of this session will be on (a) how to collect and process specimens, (b) self-assessments for diagnostic adequacy, and (c) how to maximize the outcomes of EUS-guided tissue acquisition.
