Backpack scavenger hunt
Find the following items in your child’s backpack, the first to find them will win a prize:
1. Agenda
2. Sharpened pencil
3. Blank notebook paper
4. Reading log book
5. Pen
6. Binder/notes
7. homework
Use of Planners
Homework should be written in the planner.
Students should check off homework when it is completed.
Students should write down upcoming tests.
Students can write important information or reminders.
Nightly Homework Procedure
STEP 1: Write homework in the agenda
STEP 2: Make sure that agenda and homework is in the backpack before leaving school
STEP 3: Check agenda when doing your homework
STEP 4: Check off each item in the agenda when it is finished
STEP 5: Make sure all completed homework goes back in the backpack
STEP 6: Place backpack by the door for the morning
Activity
Activity – check to see if tonight’s homework was completed
Some things to consider:
1.Did your child copy down all homework assignments?
2.How is the quality of the homework?
Organization
Binder with dividers
Folders for each subject with pockets.
Notebooks for each subject
Pencil box or pouch
Organization Activity
Sort loose papers found in the backpack.
Group papers by subjects or categories.
Examples: Math, Language Arts, Homework, History, Science
Study Skills
Review notes and study guides prior to a test or quiz.
Make flash cards.
Have someone test you on the material
