Referrals to GI and Hepatology involve ongoing collaboration with primary care providers. The latest treatments, guidelines and recommendations in various topics, such as: Helicobacter pylori treatment, screening colonoscopy, cirrhosis, obesity, liver transplant, pancreatic cysts and more will be discussed to develop quality and cost effective strategies for successful patient outcomes in 2017 and beyond.

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:■■ Discuss the updates on Helicobacter pylori treatment.

■■ Understand the steps in evaluation of the patient with chronic constipation.

■■ Describe fecal microbiota transplant and its indications.

■■ Explore the various types of pancreatic cysts: which ones need surveillance vs. endoscopic or surgical intervention?

■■ Identify the indications and multidisciplinary management of liver transplant in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

■■ Review evaluation and surveillance of patients with hereditary colon cancer syndromes.

■■ Describe the medical, laboratory and radiologic testing prior to referral for liver transplant.

■■ Understand the laboratory and radiologic testing for medical and/or surgical evaluation needed for a liver mass.

■■ Discuss evaluation and management of patients with acute liver failure.

■■ Understand the various endoscopic interventions and tools used in the management of the bariatric patient.

■■ Review the evaluation and management of patients with alcoholic liver disease.

■■ Develop improved understanding of the complex endoscopic interventions and management in various GI conditions.
