LETTERS TO THE EDITORRe: Many reasons to re-electObama

I'm trulyamazed at the reasoningbehind thewriterof the letterof Oct. 2,samesubjectHere we go again, liberals.against conservatives. If you will recallin2007 Obama campaigned on a messageof "Hopeand Change."All we get is"Divide andBlame."He's now runninga classwarfare campaign of division. Heplansto divideAmerica alongclass lines, gender lines, party lines, age lines, raciallinesandanyotherlineshe can find. Inmy opinion, DickinAlto shouldget outofAltofora whileto see what's goingonin thiscountry. Or maybe travel to Franceto learn for himhow "Socialism"workedfor them.

Ifyouare anAmerican citizenandyouvotefor Obamain 2012,you needtohaveyourheadexamined. Except thatyouwillno longerbe covered for that kind oftreatment underMedicareor Obamacareifhe is re-elected.

CAPITAN - But for a game inwhich the Dexter Lady Demons couldn'tseem to click, this would have been asweep.

Instead, Capitan won a close gametwo and forced the Lady Demons to winThursday's "Dig Pink" volleyball matchin four games - 25-12, 18-25,25-8,25-8.

The scores of the last two gamesshow how much confidence Dexter (9-3)had after losing a back and forth contestin the second frame.

"We had a lot energy in the beginning, but then we started not communicating. That was our glitch," said Capitan coach Rebecca Gonzales. "Towardthe end of the third and fourth games, they weren't moving their feet, but thoseare things that can be fixed in practice."

As for what happened in the secondgame, Dexter coach Andy Luikens hadsome theories.

"They got some momentum on us,and we could not pass the ball," Luikenssaid. "We just had way too many errors.

Why Does Government Exist? As oneconsiders the answer for thisquestion, Ilookfirst to the Bible for the

answer. InRomans 13:1-4, Paul writes, "there isnoauthority except that which Godhasestablished."Godhasordained thatmanoperates bestundergovernance of .authority. InthebookofJudges 17:6,21:25, "Every mandidwhatwasrightinhisowneyes:' This indicates theneedofgovernment for theprevention ofanarchy. AndJesussaysinJohn 8;32, "Know thetruthandthetruth will setyou free:' Government hasasagoalthe freedom andthepreservation of liberty.

The Preamble to theConstitution statesthatweneedgovernment tomaintainlawandorder, suppress crime, preservepeace, serveJustice, protectpeople, promotewelfare qrtd advance liberty. When weconsider thebasicphilosophy of (heancients,Aristotle saysthat weneedgovernance to promote thegoodlife.

From theBible, welearn thatmanisa sinner andneedssome outside restraint.

WhatIs RequiredOfThe Christian Citizen?Involvement-Refusal to participate inthepolitico!process leaves toothers the

tremendously importantworkofrunning theschools, enforcing thelaw, zoningth, ecity, determining taxes, defending thenation, etc.

Discipline - To learn the facts, participate inpublic affairs, understand thepoliticalprocess, workto supportprincipals, candidates, parties andcauses.

Avoidnegatives - Focusing on onlyoneissue, onlyonthecandidate, onlythepartyline, andindiViduQI ism. •

Becomingaware of your own attitudes that are lettingyou down is thefirst step in moving towarda happier life.Once healthyadjustments are made in theway you think about yourself, you will .find it easier to make the changes neededthat can bringyou happiness.

accept the fallibility of others. Givingothers the right to be wrong can save you alot of heartache.

" Last, but not least, don't take thingssopersonally. Unhappy people havea tendency to put themselves down when theygetrejected by significant peoplein their livesor are not as 'successful' in life as theythinkthey 'ought' to be. Evenwhenpeoplethinkbadlyof you,you are still a worthwhileperson.Tellyourself, "Although(prefer to be approved of by importantpeople in my life, I don't need to be. It'snot the end of the world to be criticized-1can stand it. I am a valuablepersonevenwhen peoplethink badly of me."

RUI DOSOFREE PRESS

Tips on how to be realistically happyFirst, stop blamingothers for mak

ing you unhappy. Take responsibility formakingyourselfhappy.Secondly, giveyourselfpermissionto be happy. This maymean that you have to create healthierboundarieswith those who have a tendency to drain you of emotional energy,Thirdly, do things for others and yourcommunitywithout expectinganythingback in return. Some of the most miserable people I knowarc those who tend tocalculateeverythingin tenus of what theyare getting out of it. Conversely, some ofthe happiestpeople I know are involvedin some kind of volunteerwork for otherswithoutexpectationsof rewards. Fourthly,

"Do not search for happiness. Rather, commit yourself to pursuingsomethingthat is personally meaningfulto you, andyou mightfind happiness along the way."

- Wind)' DrvdenI believethe real basis oflivi~g re

alistically happy is that change mustfirsttakeplacewithinyou. Too often peopleinsist thatothers must change first, ortheirworldmust change first, before theycan be happy. Peoplewho tend to blametheoutsideworld for their unhappinessare sabotaging their·ownability to makethemselves happy. Here's a partial list ofrationalattitudes and values that can helpyou becomehappier in life.
