This Tournament is a tradition in our city. It is part of the identity of our region and contributes to promote Puerto Vallarta beyond the national borders.

At first time the answer to this question may be based on scientific tests and supported by empiri-cal evidence. There are biologists who affirm that billfishes not only can see all the colors, but also prefer lures with big eyes instead of those cheap ones with stickers. Some other scientists say that they probably can’t see colors but some hues or shadows; others say marlins follow the sound made by the baits.

What does empirical evidence says?

In a lot of places, the bait used to fish blue marlín is Iland blue white, -also known in fishing world as “Hawaiian eye”- mixed with a ballyhoo. Although the long baits, as squids, are very succesfull too.Jim McKeral, owen of Carolina Lures and maker of skirted lures of high quality said once: “We have two colors here in the Carolinas: blue/white and-white/blue.”… McKeral said that like a joke, but it’s not. Any other color of bait has such success as the combination of blue and white. Then… blue marlin can or cannot to see color?

Another point to consider is the fact that in some conditions and other oceans, different combina-tions can work better. The skirt pink/purple is the best when presented with a squid, and the yellow/green is better with a mackerel which is used when marlin are following schools of little golden (the tone of the skirts are similar to the ones of golden’s skin), which means a big contrast between blue/white Ilander used at East U.S. coasts and the Ca-ribbean.

In the other hand there is also the big marlin of African coasts. There is no evidence of any kind of

¿Qué dice la evidencia empírica?

En muchos lugares, el señuelo que se utiliza para la pesca del marlin azul, es el Ilander blanco azu-lado -mejor conocido en el mundo de la pesca como el “ojo hawaiano”-, combinado con un bal-lyhoo. Aunque también las carnadas largas como el calamar son muy exitosas.Jim McKeral, dueño de Carolina Lures y fabrican-te de señuelos con falda de gran calidad dijo una vez: “tenemos dos colores exitosos para la pesca en Carolina del Norte, el blanco azulado y azul blancuzco”…McKeral hizo el comentario en bro-ma, pero no es así. Ningún otro color de señuelo se acerca un poco al éxito que ha tenido la com-binación de blanco y azul. Entonces…los marlines azules pueden o no diferenciar los colores?Otro punto que debemos considerar, es el hecho de que bajo ciertas condiciones y en otros océa-nos, combinaciones diferentes funcionan con más éxito. La falda rosa-morada es la mejor cuando se presenta con un calamar, y la amarilla-verdosa es particularmente efectiva cuando se presenta con una pequeña macarela y es usada cuando los mar-lines persiguen escuelas de pequeños dorados (las tonalidades de las faldas son muy parecidas a los matices de la piel del dorado), lo que significa

pattern of color in the area, but have been good catches with almost every color of lures, maybe a little bit of more luck with pink/white.

Kona Kolors

The origin of lures for billfishes is in the town called Kona in Hawaii. Kona is the land of the most expen-sive lures in the world with lots of removable and interchangeable skirts, also with heads of any form you can know.

A lot of fishermen in Kona are convinced that then color is the difference. They are pretty sure that most marlins react to the color, a kind of relation with what they are looking for food in the moment.If you see a lot of little squids in the area, better choose a blue or purple lure, because that’s the color of squids when in the water. If there are some Atlantic bonitos then use a combination of purple and silver. That’s not their natural color, but if you see them underwater they look like those tones. If you’re fishing in a rainy and cloudy day you may want to use lures with brilliant pink colors. A lot of fishermen had practiced that during years and have had very good results.

The blue ones from Los Cabos

Fishermen from Cabos San Lucas say that the best color to get blue marlin depends on the hour of the day and the angle of sun. In the morning the darks baits are good, but while the day passes by, the yel-low and orange ones are better. During twilight the red ones had a better performance and generally are the best option, especially with full moon.

Conclusions

No one can say scientifically speaking that marlins can see colors and that those can really make a dif-ference, but there are enough evidences, thanks to the constant practice, to prove that colors in lures have a mission and the results are during the fish-ing time. Anyway, if a fisherman truly believes that the color doesn’t matter, would fish with the same color bait all day, every day and that… has never seen before.

Kona Kolors

El origen de los señuelos para picudos radica en el pueblo de Kona en Hawaii. Kona, es la tierra de los señuelos más caros que existen con cientos de faldas removibles e intercambiables, y con cabe-zas de todas las formas que pudiéramos conocer. Muchos pescadores de Kona están convencidos de que el color hace la diferencia. Están comple-tamente seguros que muchos marlines reaccio-nan al color como relacionándolo con lo que se alimentan en ese momento.Si ves que hay muchos pequeños calamares en el área, escoge un señuelo azul o morado, porque de ese color lucen los calamares cuando se en-cuentran en el agua. Cuando encuentres varios bonitos en la zona, puedes utilizar una combi-nación de morados y plateados. Ese no es su color natural, pero si los ves bajo del agua, lucen esos tonos. Pescadores de Cabos San Lucas comentan que el mejor color para el marlin azul depende de la hora del día y el ángulo del sol. En las mañanas, los señuelos oscuros funcionan bien, pero mien-tras pasa el día, los amarillos y naranjas empie-zan a funcionar mejor. Durante la tarde-noche, los rojos muestran un mejor desempeño y gen-eralmente son la mejor opción, especialmente en luna llena.

Conclusiones

Nadie puede afirmar científicamente que los marlines distinguen los colores y que realmente hacen la diferencia, pero existen suficientes evidencias gracias a la práctica constante, para comprobar que los señuelos de colores tienen un propósito y brindan resultados a la hora de la pesca.De cualquier forma, si un pescador cree realmente que el color del señuelo no importa, pescaría con puro señuelo del mismo color, todo el día, todos los días, y eso… jamás se ha visto.

Xaime Ximenez se sienta a trabajar frente a su lienzo bajo la luz natural, con los pinceles al alcance de su boca e inspirado por los sonidos del mar. Este peculiar pintor fue dotado por la vida con habilidades diferentes, con las cuales se ha dedicado a pintar desde 1985, cuando encontró la inspiración en un colorido amanecer entre el mar y la montaña de Yelapa. Fue entonces que descubrió a su gran musa: Puerto Vallarta.

Estimulado por las personas que compran y admiran su trabajo, Xaime trabaja con acrílico o tinta sobre papel, tela o madera y pinceles

painting classes, he attributes his skill with color to having

watched his father work as a sign painter.

Even without formal artistic training, Ximenez has gained wide

recognition. For example, he took all three top places in a competition

for disabled artists in Phoenix, Ari-zona!.

However, his life plans as an adoles-cent were quite different He never

considered becoming an artist, much less making a living by painting. Fol-

lowing graduation from high school, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business

Administration, followed by another in Law. He then went on to earn his mas-ter’s degree in Law. But he found his

true calling in the world of art. “At first, painting was a hobby. Now,

my hobby is going to school and studying,” says Ximénez.

De hecho, atribuye su habilidad con los colores a el haber visto desde niño cómo su padre trabajaba como rotulador.

Aún sin formación artística de academia, ha co-sechado amplio reconocimiento, como cuando participó en una competencia para personas con capacidades diferentes de la ciudad de Phoenix donde resultó ser el gran ganador de ¡los tres primeros lugares!

Sin embargo, de adolescente sus planes de vida eran otros, nunca pensó en ser artista y mucho menos vivir de la pintura. Al terminar su educación secundaria cursó la licenciatura en Administración de Empresas, después una más en Derecho, además de una maestría de esta misma carrera. Pero su oficio se encontraba en el mundo de lo artístico. “Al principio la pintura fue un hobby, hoy mi hobby es ir a la universi-dad y estudiar” dice Xaime Ximénez.

En México se destinan exclusivamente a la pesca deportiva, dentro de una franja de 50 millas náuticas contadas a partir de la línea de base desde la cual se mide el Mar Territorial, un total de 9 especies: 6 denominadas como “Picudos” (4 tipos de Marlin; Pez Vela y Pez Espada) además del Sábalo, Pez Gallo y Pez Dorado.

Queda Prohibido realizar actos de pesca comercial al amparo del permiso de pesca deportiva o simular actos de pesca deportiva con el propósito de lucro. Se prohíbe también el fileteo a bordo y solo podrán destinarse a su consumo doméstico o para su montaje en taxidermia.

Es obligación del pescador deportivo contar con su permiso de pesca deportiva, los que se expedirán a personas físicas nacionales o extranjeras, tanto individuales como por embarcación, de acuerdo a la Ley Federal de Derechos.

El pescador deportivo debe respetar las disposiciones federales en cuanto a tallas mínimas, vedas y solo podrá utilizar caña o línea con anzuelo, con carnada o señuelo.

Los prestadores de servicios están obligados a presentar BITÁCORAS DE PESCA (las mismas pueden obtenerse en el portal de Conapesca)

Los límites de captura son 5 ejemplares diarios por pescador en aguas continentales y 10 en aguas marinas, con la siguiente composición por especie:

a) No más de cinco de una misma especie.

b) Cuando se trate de Marlin, Pez Vela, Pez Espada y Tiburón, el límite máximo por pescador y día será de un solo ejemplar, el cual será equivalente a cinco de otras especies.

c) En el caso de Sábalo, Pez Dorado o Pez Gallo, el límite máximo será de dos ejemplares, los que también serán equivalentes a cinco organismos.

Mexico has selected nine fish species and reserved them exclusively for the activity of sport fishing practiced in the area located within the first 50 nautical miles measured from the sea-shore. Six of these species are commonly known as “Picudos” (Billfish), these include 4 species of Marlin; Sailfish and Swordfish, in addition to Tarpon fish, Roosterfish and Mahi-mahi (also known as Dorado).

Sport fishing permits strictly prohibits any commercial fishing activity or making any monetary gain from their use. On-board filleting is also forbidden and catches must be destined for personal consumption or taxidermy mounts.

It is compulsory for every sport fisherman to have a license to practice the activity. Licenses and boat permits will be issued to Mexican nationals or foreign individuals, according to Mexican Federal Duty Law.

Sport fishermen must abide by Federal dispositions regarding minimum sizes, fishing bans and may only use fishing poles, reels, lines with hooks and with or without bait or lures.

Sport fishing service providers must keep and present when required a fishing log (which is available at the CONAPESCA web site).

Catches are limited to five fish daily per sport fisherman in freshwaters and ten fish in saltwater, with the following quota limits per species:

a) Not more than five fish of any one species.

b) Regarding Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish and Shark, the maximum limit for each sport fisherman will be of one specimen per day; any catch of these species is to be equivalent to five specimens of any other.

c) In case of Tarpon fish, Mahi-mahi (Dorado) or Roosterfish, the maximum limit allowed will be two specimens and will be also equivalent to five of any other species.

con dispositivo que pueda conectarse a una com-putadora para su copia, la cual deberá presentar el día de las inscripciones (se proporcionara mayor información el día de las inscripciones). Se reco-mienda utilizar el anzuelo TIP “CIRCLE HOOK” o tipo JAPONÉS para facilitar la liberación de los PEZ VELA y MARLIN

7. En esta competencia se permitirán ÚNICAMENTE el USO o TRAER A BORDO de la embarcación

la línea hasta de 130 LBS de resistencia. Cañas y Carretes a discreción del pescador, se prohíbe el uso de carretes electrónicos. El Comité Organizador cuando considere necesario podrá pedirle a cualquier concursante una muestra del equipo y línea de pesca para su revisión. No hay restricción respecto al número de cañas y carretes que puede usar el equipo o embarcación registrado.

8. IMPORTANTE: Toda embarcación deberá retirar el equipo de pesca no permitido para su uso

como: anzuelos dobles, arpones y en general artes de pesca no permitidos.

9. Sólo se permite como máximo dos (2) anzuelos sencillos por empate siguiendo los lineamientos

de la IGFA (International Game Fish Asociation). Se prohíbe el uso de anzuelos dobles, (ver dibujo).

10. Los peces deberán ser capturados con carnadas o señuelos y serán acercados a la

embarcación sin más ayuda que el carrete y la caña. QUEDA PROHIBIDO EL USO DE MECHUDO. Solo se permitirán 4.50mts de sedal doble y otro tanto empate (leader). La suma de los dos no excederá 9.00mts. No podrán descansarse las cañas sobre la borda y ninguna persona podrá durante la pelea de un ejemplar tocar la caña, carrete o línea del par-ticipante.

11. SON CAUSAS DE DESCALIFICACIÓN:

a. Contravenir en cualquier forma las disposiciones de estas bases.

b. Que personas ajenas al equipo ajusten el carrete, o maniobren cualquier parte del equipo durante la pesca. Se prohíbe agarrar la línea doble. Sólo se per-mitirá que uno de los tripulantes tome el empate para arrimar al pez al costado de la lancha. No hay restricción alguna sobre el número de personas que ayuden a subir al animal a la lancha. NO SE PER-MITIRÁ EL USO DE GANCHOS PARA PEZ VELA sin embargo para las otras especies sí está permitido.

Reglas Oficialesdel Club de Pesca

1.Este torneo está abierto para todos los EQUIPOS que se registren debidamente y se comprometan

a cumplir todas las reglas del Torneo, a someterse a las disposiciones del Juez, del Comité de Honor y Justicia, y las reglas contempladas por la Ley General de Pesca y Acuacultura Sustentables así como de la Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes.

Limites de captura según las reglas de pesca deportiva en México: 10 Ejemplares diarios por pescador con la siguiente composición:

a) No más de cinco de la misma especie.

b) Cuando se trate de Marlín, Pez Vela, Pez Espada y Tiburón, el límite máximo por pescador y día será de un solo ejemplar, el cual será equivalente a cinco de otras especies.

c) Los permisos de navegación y de pesca deportiva recreativa, son responsabilidad y corren por cuenta de los participantes, así como el trámite ante las autoridades correspondientes.

2. Cada equipo constara con un máximo de cuatro pescadores, aunque esta permitido que se registren

equipos con un menor numero de participantes. Cada equipo designara un capitán que representará al equipo.

3. Las especies que califican son: MARLIN, PEZ VELA, ATÚN Y DORADO.

4. Con el afán de proteger a las especies, SOLO CALIFICARÁN MARLIN DE MÁS DE 100 KGS,

PEZ VELA DE MÁS DE 30 KGS., ATÚN DE MÁS DE 30 KGS Y DORADO DE MÁS DE 10 KGS.

5. Sugerimos soltar a los especimenes que a juicio de los participantes estén por debajo de

las tallas mínimas, no existirá penalización si algún concursante trae a pesaje algún ejemplar menor al límite de peso.

6. Serán declarados CAMPEONES por especie, los equipos que capturen el Marlin, Pez Vela, Atún o

Dorado de mayor peso. Solo en caso de empate se tomará como base la medida de los peces; primero el largo y luego el contorno. (En tal caso las me-didas serán las indicadas por las reglas de la IGFA. De persistir el empate ganará, el pez que se haya registrado primero).

En el caso del PEZ VELA Y MARLIN los equipos además podrán participar en la modalidad de CAPTURAR Y LIBERAR (CATCH AND RELEASE) y será declarado Campeón el equipo con mayor número de capturas que acerquen a la embarcación y liberen previo video que indique fecha y hora de la captura y liberación. Los equipos que quieran participar en esta mo-dalidad deberán traer su propia cámara de video


c. Que en su embarcación permitan pescar a personas no inscritas en el equipo.

d. Presentar cualquier pez que no haya sido capturado por el equipo en forma reglamentaria durante el día de pesca.

e. Cualquier pez herido por la propela (que penetre o rasgue la carne), mordida de tiburón, arpón, proyectil, o arma de fuego, o por cualquier objeto punzo cortante. NO SERÁ MOTIVO DE DESCALI-FICACIÓN LA RUPTURA DEL PICO DEL ANIMAL, CUALQUIERA QUE FUERA SU CAUSA.

f. El Comité Organizador deberá abrir los ejemplares que ocupen los tres primeros lugares de cada día. En caso de encontrarse algún objeto extraño del animal introducido a propósito para aumentar su peso, será descalificado junto con todas las capturas del equipo de ese día.

g. Los participantes o embarcaciones que no permitan la inspección del Comité Organizador a la embar-cación.

h. Llevar a bordo cualquier objeto de pesca que no sea el registrado. Así como arpones, chinchorros, tarrayas, cimbras y en general artes de pesca que no sean las permitidas.

i. Que algún participante se comporte en forma antideportiva o con falta de probidad durante el desarrollo del torneo.

j. Será causa de descalificación del o los participantes en el torneo, proferir agresiones físicas y verbales al Juez del Torneo y a sus ayudantes. En caso de que ocurra esto serán sometidos al comité de Honor y Justicia y se descalificaran a los participantes que incurran en estas faltas.

12. En caso de avería de alguna embarcación o que por su lentitud no pueda llegar a tiempo

para que sus ejemplares sean pesados, estos pueden ser transferidos a otra embarcación que la presente en su nombre ante el juez. En caso que la embar-cación que preste auxilio y transporte no llegue a tiempo el pesaje, no podrá ser usado como excusa y la pesca de ambas no podrá ser registrada.

13. Los concursantes deberán estar presentes en las instalaciones de API, el día y hora

de la inauguración del torneo que se efectuará a las 7.00 hrs. del centro y deberán esperar la orden de salida del juez. En caso de que cualquier embarcación salga antes del disparo u orden de salida, los pescadores participantes inscritos de esa embarcación serán descalificados durante ese día de pesca.

14. Las embarcaciones deberán reportar diari-amente la hora de salida a pescar lo mismo

a su regreso de acuerdo al horario permitido en el programa, no se permitirá que ninguna embar-cación salga o regrese de otro punto que no sean los lugares oficiales de salida, la falta de cumplimiento de esta regla descalificara a los que incurran en ella.

15. El Comité Organizador tiene facultades para prolongar, acortar o suspender el torneo por

situaciones climatológicas o por cualquier otra causa de fuerza mayor.

16. Fungirá como juez el Sr. Capitán Cipriano Quintero Montes (Pano) y sus fallos serán

inapelables cuando se presente una situación no específicamente reglamentada, el criterio del Juez así como del Comité Organizador de Honor y Justicia serán inapelables.

17. El pesaje de los ejemplares dará inicio a las 13:00 hrs. y terminará con el horario del programa.

Es obligación que el equipo concursante, regis-tre sus capturas. Previa autorización del Comité Organizador debido a causas de fuerza mayor y justificada, los ejemplares podrán ser presentados por otra persona.

18. Los peces de mayor peso de cada día serán objeto de minucioso examen por parte de

biólogos y del Juez del Torneo, por lo que las boletas de pesaje tendrán validez después de dicho examen.

19. TODOS LOS EJEMPLARES PRESENTADOS A PESAJE PASARAN A SER PROPIEDAD DEL

CLUB DE PESCA, LOS CUALES SERÁN DONADOS A INSTITUCIONES DE BENEFICIENCIA SOCIAL, SI

ALGÚN CONCURSANTE DESEA MONTAR SU EJEMPLAR, SE LE PROPORCIONARÁ LA PIEL.

20. Cualquier protesta de un participante de-bidamente registrado relacionada con esta

competencia, deberá ser presentada por el capitán del equipo por escrito y firmada al Juez teniendo como limite las 19:00 hrs. del mismo día en que se registre el motivo de la misma.

21. Para mayor seguridad de los participantes contaremos con vigilancia marítima por parte

de la Secretaria de Marina, Capitanía de Puerto y la Delegación de Sagarpa, el Comité Organizador bajo ninguna circunstancia se hace responsable de cual-quier percance o accidente que pudiesen tener los concursantes o embarcaciones durante el torneo.

22. Los concursantes, pescadores, embarca-ciones, capitanes y tripulaciones que sean

descalificados en el torneo, podrán ser vetados de torneos futuros organizados por el Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta, A.C., y pueden ser boletinados a otros Clubes de Pesca y organizadores de otros Torneos.

23. El solo hecho de inscribirse y participar en este torneo de pesca, obliga al participante a

leer, conocer y cumplir con las reglas de este torneo.

24. El Comité Organizador se reserva a su criterio, el derecho de admisión de cualquier persona,

embarcación o tripulación que quiera inscribirse y participar en el torneo.

7. In this competition the USE or BRING ABOARD the boat line up of 130 LBS will be allowed

ONLY. Resistance. Rods and reels are discretion of the fisherman, prohibits the use of electronic throttles. Whenever the Organizing Committee deemed necessary can ask a sample of equipment and fishing line for review to any participant. There is no restriction on the number of rods and reels that you can use in the team or vessel registered.

8. IMPORTANT: Each vessel has to remove all the fishing equipment that is not allowed for use,

such as double hooks, harpoons and fishing gear that are generally not allowed.

9. Only a maximum of two (2) simple hooks for a draw along the lines of the IGFA (International

Game Fish Association) are allowed. The use of double hooks is forbidden (see picture).

10. Fish should be caught with bait or lures and

will be brought close to the boat without more help than the reel and rod. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE MOPPERS. Only 4.50 meters of double line are allowed and the same for leader. The sum of the two shall not exceed 9.00mts. The rod cannot rest on the side and no person shall, during the fight of one individual, touch the rod, reel or line of the par-ticipant.

11. GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION:

a. To contravene in any way the provisions of these rules.

b. People outside the team to fit the reel or to ma-neuver any part of the equipment while fishing. It is forbidden to grasp the double line. Only allow one crew member to take the leader to bring close the fish alongside the boat. There are no restrictions on the number of people to help get the animal on the boat. IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO USE GAFFS FOR SAILFISH however for other species it is permis-sible. c. To permit persons not registered on the computer to fish on the boat.

Fishing Club's Official Rules

1.This tournament is open to all TEAMS that are properly registered and are committed to

following all rules of the tournament, to comply with the provisions of the Judge, the Honour and Justice Committee, and the rules set by the Ley General de Acuacultura y Sustentables and Secretary of Communications and Transports.

Limits of catches by Sport Fishing Regulations in México: 10 catches per day per fisherman with the following quota limits per species:

a) Not more than five fish of any one species.

b) Regarding Marlins, Sailfish, Swordfish and Shark, the maximum limit for each sport fisherman will be of one specimen per day; any catch of these species is to be considered equivalent to five specimens of any other.

c) Sports fishing and navigating licenses are the responsibility of the participants and the proceedings before the proper authorities.

2. Each party will consist of a maximum of four fisher-men, although teams are allowed to register

with a smaller number of participants. Each team will designate a captain to represent the team.

3. Species that qualify are: MARLIN, SAILFISH, TUNA and MAHI-MAHI.

4. In an effort to protect species, only MARLIN OF OVER 100 KGS, SAILFISH OF MORE THAN 30

KGS, TUNA FOR OVER 30 KGS AND MAHI-MAHI FOR OVER 10 KGS qualify.

5. We suggest releasing the specimens that, in the opinion of the participants, are below the

minimum sizes, there is no penalty if a competitor brings a specimen weighing less than the weight limit.

6. CHAMPIONS will be declared by species, teams catching the heaviest Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna or

Mahi-Mahi. In case of a tie, the taken action will be based on the fish’s size, first its length and then its outline. (In this case the action shall be as set by the IGFA rules. If the tie persists, the fish that was registered first will win).

In the case of SAILFISH and MARLIN, teams may also participate in the mode of CATCH AND RE-LEASE and the winning team with the highest num-ber of catches which came to the boat and released previously have taken a video with date and hour of the catch and release shall be declared. Teams wishing to participate in this modality should bring their own digital camera device that can plug in

If a foreign object is found inside the animal on purpose to increase its weight, it will be disqualified along with all the team catches on that day.

g. The participants or vessels who do not allow in-spection of the ship by the Organizing Committee.

h. Carry on board any fishing object other than the registered. Such as harpoons, fishnets, formwork and general fishing gear other than those permit-ted. i. If a participant behaves unsportsmanlike or dis-honestly in the course of the tournament.

j. Utter physical and/or verbal aggression to Tour-nament Judge and his assistants may result in disqualification of participants in the tournament. If this happens the case will be submitted to the Honor and Justice Committee who will disqualify participants who engage in such misconduct.

12. In case of failure of any vessel or because of slowness cannot reach in time due to their

specimens being weighted up; they can be trans-ferred to another vessel that present the catch to the judge in representation of the team. In case the boat of assistance and transportation arrives late to the weighing, this may not be used as an excuse and fishing for both may not be registered.

13. Contestants must be present at API, the date and time of the inauguration of the

tournament to be held at 7:00 am central time of Mexico City, and have to wait out the order of the judge. If any vessel part before shooting out or or-der out of the dock, fishermen and registered par-ticipants of that vessel will be disqualified during that fishing day.

14. Vessels must report daily departure time, the same on return according to the sched-

ule allowed in the program, no vessel is allowed leaving or returning to another point than the of-ficial places of departure, the lack of compliance of this rule will disqualify those who engage in it.

15. The Organizing Committee has the author-ity to extend, shorten or suspend the tour-

nament for weather situations or any other cause of force majeure.

16. Acting as judge Captain Cipriano (a.k.a. Pano) Quintero Montes and its rulings are

final when presented with a situation not specifi-cally regulated. The approach of the Judge and the Honor and Justice Organizing Committee are final.

17. The weighing of the specimens will begin at 13:00 hrs, ending with the program sched-

ule. It is an obligation of the contestant team, to record their catches. With the permission of the Organizing Committee due to force majeure and justified, specimens may be submitted by another person.

18. The heaviest fish of each day will be sub-ject to careful scrutiny by biologists and the

Judge of the Tournament, so the tickets will be val-id after weighing review.

19. ALL THE CATCHES WILL BE HELD BY THE FISHING CLUB IN ORDER TO GIVE THEM

TO ASSOCIATIONS OF SOCIAL BENEFIT. WHEN-EVER A FISHERMAN WANTS TO MOUNT A SPECI-MEN THE SKIN WILL BE PROVIDED.

20. Any protest of a duly registered participant related to this competition must be submit-

ted by the team captain in writing and signed to the Judge having as a limit 19:00 hrs. the same day that the reason is recorded.

21. For safety of participants there will be mari-time surveillance by the Secretary of the

Navy, Port Captain, the inspection and fisheries monitory is by personnel of Comisión Nacional de Pesca y Acuacultura. The Organizing Committee under no circumstances can be held responsible for any mishap or accident that might occur to the contestants or boats during the tournament.

22. Contestants, fishing, boats, captains and crews who are disqualified in the tourna-

ment, may be banned from future tournaments organized by the Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta A.C., and can be bulletined to other fishing clubs and organizers of other tournaments.

23. Simple registration and participation in this fishing tournament, binds the participants

to read, understand and comply with the rules of this tournament.

24. The Organizing Committee in its discretion reserves the right to admit any person, ves-

sel or crew who wants to join and participate in the tournament.
