JCamp at Westside JCC is commied to creang an environment where all campers have the opportunity to learn, grow and try new things. We have chosen five values that lay the foundaon upon which we build our program, schedule and community.

Community/Kehillah/ קהילה: Building meaningful relaonships creates stronger individuals, lifelong friendships, and an ongoing sense of belonging.

Joy/Rinah/ רינה: We take seriously the mitzvah (commandment) of increasing joy in life. We aim to bring joy to ourselves, our community, and everyone in our lives.

Creavity/Yetzirah/ יצירה: We construct a safe space for exploring, challenging ourselves and culvang our talents.

Respect/Kavod/ כבוד: Designing a space where everyone can be themselves by treang everyone with kindness and compassion.

Growth/Gedilah/ גדילה: Learning through experience builds confidence in our abilies and teaches us that growing up is truly about discovering our highest potenal.

The JCamp values are extremely important to camp and are reflected in all that we do. We use them as a framework for explaining the rules, a means for discussing how we build relaonships and a teaching tool to beer ourselves. We try to emphasize the importance of these values through our JCamp values awards. These are awards given out to five to ten campers each week at our Shabbat Celebraon. Our counselors and specialists have the opportunity to nominate campers that have truly exemplified a JCamp value and the awards are handed out. It is not an award that every camper will win and we believe it is a great tool for reinforcing great behavior and an opportunity to recognize campers who may be overlooked in other ways.

COVID19 Enhanced Health and Safety Protocols

What does this mean for the WJCC Programs? JCamp is implemenng all measures outlined by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health. Including but not limited to physical distancing, infecon control, communicaon and equitable access measures, as outlined in Reopening Protocols for Day Camps: Appendix K. JCamp Illness, Hygiene, & Physical Distancing Expectaons As a condion of enrollment, families must agree to all of our illness, hygiene, and physical distancing expectaons without excepon. Failure to meet these expectaons is grounds for immediate disenrollment.

● Maintain sensible, praccal physical distancing. ● No large gatherings, birthday pares, or social events. ● Minimize me outside of home like trips to the store. ● Wash hands thoroughly when entering and leaving home and throughout the day. ● Wear a mask when outside the home. ● Avoid touching your face. ● Avoid travel. If anyone in the household travels out-of-state or travels anywhere by plane,

boat, or train, your camper must remain home for 12 days aer returning. ● Monitor yourself and those in your home for signs of illness. If you or your camper is sick, stay

home and keep your camper home. This is not the moment to ignore symptoms. ● Communicate openly and immediately with JCAMP about any illness or potenal exposure.

We pledge to protect privacy as much as is praccal but we must know about any potenal exposure or illness in order to protect everyone.

● Stay off campus and seek medical care promptly if you have any symptoms of COVID-19: o Cough o Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing o Fever o Chills o Muscle pain o Sore throat o New loss of taste or smell

During the JCamp day the following protocols will be in place and may be adjusted periodically as advised by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health and CDC. Health Screenings

● Campers will go through a health screening in their car, while in carline before being allowed to exit the vehicle.

o They will be asked if they have any symptoms of COVID19 o Their temperature will be taken. Campers with a fever of 100.4 or higher will not be

allowed to aend camp. ● Staff will complete the same health screening as campers upon their arrival.

small bunks within the classrooms. As they move about the Center and when they are in shared spaces while praccing 6’ of physical distancing campers must wear masks.

Grouping

● Bunks will be no more than 12 campers to at least 2 counselors. ● Campers will be kept in their small bunks throughout the day. ● During the week long session the bunks will be consistent.

Cleaning Rounes

● The Westside JCC will be cleaned by a professional company every 2 hours and on an as needed basis.

● High touch points and any area where food is consumed will be sanized between JCamp bunks.

● Each evening a professional cleaning company will provide a deep clean and sanizaon of the facility.

Policy for Symptoms

● If a camper shows any symptoms of illness they will be isolated from the other campers and asked to wear a face covering unl their parent picks them up. We have a designated isolaon room reserved for this purpose.

● Aer the staff member or camper goes home, the Director of Camp will follow up with an email outlining the policy for COVID19 symptoms.

● Campers or staff must stay home in isolaon and not return to the JCC for a minimum of 10 days aer onset of symptoms OR unl their symptoms have improved AND they are free of fever for at least 72 hours without fever-reducing medicaon.

Policy for Posive COVID19 Test

● We will contact the Los Angeles Department of Public Health Acute Communicable Disease Program for guidance on steps to take to minimize risk for other campers and staff. We will discuss if and for how long you may need to close for appropriate cleaning and other steps.

● Idenfy adults and campers who may have had close contact (within physical distancing measures of 6 feet) of the ill individual for more than 10 minutes or those who may have had unprotected direct contact with body fluids or secreons of the ill individual starng from

Drop off and Pick Up Procedures

- Due to COVID19 and to limit the number of people on our campus the ONLY way to drop off and pick up your camper is through carline.

- NEVER leave your vehicle to speak with a counselor or other parent.

- This summer carline is the only way to drop off and pick up campers this summer. If for any reason your family is unable to follow and respect our carline policy and you have been spoken to three mes by either the JCamp Director or WJCC security personnel your camper will no longer be able to aend JCamp.

- Due to the specifics of carline and touchless sign in and out of camp we will need to know in advance everyone who is authorized to drop off or pick up your camper. Please update this informaon in CampDoc. You will need to make sure all those authorized have downloaded and set up the brightwheel app. Drop off Hours 7:30am to 8:50am Please note camp starts at 9:00am. Please help us get JCamp started on me by being in carline by 8:50am. Pick up Hours 3:15pm to 6pm

6

Page 7: 5870 We s t O l y m p i c B l v d . , Lo s A n g e l e s , C A 90036 ad e l e o n … plus/Updated_2020... · 2020. 7. 24. · t e ach i n g t o o l t o b e e r o u rs e l v e s .

When you drop off your camper please let the staff at carline know when you will be picking up your camper. All campers must be picked up by 6pm. How Morning Carline Works - The JCamp carline drop off and pick up is operated on the top level of the Westside JCC parking structure. Access to the structure is located within the west alley of the JCC. This alley is shared with the Olympia Hospital Medical Center. This alley is one way travel from San Vicente traveling north to Olympic Blvd. NO vehicles should enter the west alley from Olympic Blvd. Please drive slowly (5 mph) and watch for pedestrians and strollers excing the pedestrian gate and cars exing the parking structure.

- During the period of acve carline, parents should wait in their cars in a single file line along the concrete fence to allow vehicles to pass on the le to Olympic Blvd. At both the drop off and pick up mes we have swim parents and others exing the parking structure and traveling north to Olympic Blvd. Please allow enough room for vehicles to pass on the le. At no point should cars block either the garage entry or exit ramps.

- Enter the alley from San Vicente and slowly drive to the second entrance of the parking structure, the top level. Slowly and carefully drive up the right side of the ramp. The top level will be set up as in the picture below. Follow the flow of traffic slowly and stay in your car at all mes. Please have your pink carline sign in the window of your car. You will be given carline signs on the Monday of your camper’s first week of camp.

- Staff will approach your car as it arrives at the tent area. Please have your masks on and roll down the windows. The staff member will administer the health screening by asking you and your camper(s) the health screening quesons and take everyone’s temperature. If anyone in the car has a fever of 100.4 or above the camper(s) will not be able to aend camp. We ask you to go home and we will follow up with suggested protocols on home isolaon with symptoms of COVID19. You will sign your camper in to camp using the check in opon within the brightwheel App. The staff member will provide you a QR code to scan and you will enter your personal code to sign the camper into JCamp. Once the campers are cleared and signed in, the staff member will help them exit the vehicle and direct them to a sink to wash their hands. Then another waing counselor will guide them to the pao for outdoor play unl morning circle. How Aernoon Carline Works When you are on your way, ideally 5 minutes before you will arrive, using the Brightwheel App send a message to say you are on your way. Your camper(s) and their belongings will be brought to you on the top floor of the parking structure. Please follow the same path as is provided below and wait in a cue of cars for your camper to come to you. To build the cue of cars, it is paramount that you communicate that you are on your way. You can also send a message when you arrive. Your camper(s) will be loaded into your car. Please have your mask on because you will need to sign out your camper using the brightwheel App on your phone and QR code provided by the staff member.

We will be using Brightwheel for two way communicaon around pick up. Please make sure the brightwheel app is on your phone. Addionally we will be communicang the great things happening at camp through our social media plaorms (Facebook, Instagram). This will give parents the chance to learn about what happens during the day at JCamp. At the end of each week, we will send out a slideshow from the week of JCamp fun. Camp Doc Authorizaons & Forms Campers without the necessary authorizaons or forms submied prior to their first day of Camp will not be admied. Please complete all authorizaons and submit all forms online through our online registraon system CampDoc. Lost & Found Any lost arcles without a name will be placed in the Lost and Found for 12 hours. If you are missing an item, please send Ana DeLeon an email at [email protected] . Please remember that lunches cannot be refrigerated or heated. Westside JCC will provide two Kosher snacks, but if you want to pack addional snacks, please feel free. Please remind your camper that there is no sharing of food from home at JCamp. Shabbat Shabbat is a celebraon of a weekly Jewish holiday that celebrates the conclusion of the week. At JCamp we take advantage of this amazing opportunity by finishing our week together in celebraon. Our Shabbat celebraon includes lighng candles, singing songs, and eang Challah (braided egg bread). Addionally, we hope that each bunk will be able to share some of what they have learned with the rest of JCamp. Our Shabbat Celebraon is an excing way for us to finish the week together.

Birthdays We love celebrang birthdays at camp. In the me of COVID19 treats from home or shared treats are not really possible. We will celebrate your camper in many non-food related ways and make their birthday special while at camp. I nteracon with Staff Outside Of Camp JCamp counselors are not permied to have outside contact with campers and their families. This includes but is not limited to babysing, play dates or other arranged mes for meeng up. We know that somemes we happen to be at the same place at the same me, and in that case would strongly encourage our JCamp Staff to say Hello! Discipline and Camper Conduct Policy We use posive guidance techniques in managing behavior. This includes stang limits posively, giving choices, redirecon, and distracon. Campers will be removed from their camp bunk if they are hurng themselves or others, or if they indicate that they would benefit from a break from the group.. JCamp staff is trained to give campers support in calming down, regaining self-control and understanding choice and consequences. If our staff feels a camper’s behavior is endangering their own safety or that of their peers, that camper may be asked to sit out from an acvity. Every effort will be made by the staff in consultaon with the parents/guardian to ensure a posive camp experience for your camper. Any behavior that interferes with the safety, learning or enjoyment of other campers will not be tolerated. If there are discipline problems with your camper, you will be nofied. In the event there are behavioral difficules deemed irreconcilable, a camper may be removed from any JCC summer program. Any refunds will be determined by Westside JCC. Emergency Preparedness In the event of an emergency or natural disaster, we will take the necessary steps in order to ensure your camper’s safety. If evacuaon is needed, all campers and staff will be evacuated to a safe locaon and Westside JCC’s evacuaon plan will be followed. Our staff members are all trained on how to deal with emergency situaons and protocols. In the case of an evacuaon or other emergency that impacts the enre camp program, you will first be nofied by text message through our emergency text message system. Addionally, you will receive an email through CampDoc. Please DO NOT pick up your camper unl you have been nofied that it is necessary. If secondary or specific communicaon including the need to pick up your camper is needed you will receive a phone call from the Camp Director, Program Assistant or Head Counselor. Please understand that we cannot call everyone at the same me. If your camper experiences an individual emergency during the day, then we will contact you with those details over the phone.

TRANSPORTATION RELEASE In consideraon of Westside JCC and JCamp furnishing transportaon services to my camper in conjuncon with JCamp acvies, I, on behalf of myself, my partner/spouse, my camper’s other parent, my camper, and our respecve representaves and heirs, authorize JCAMP to and request that JCAMP provide transportaon services to my camper in conjuncon with Jcamp acvies, and hereby voluntarily release, waive, discharge, hold harmless, defend and indemnify Westside JCC and its owners, agents, officers and employees from and against any and all claims, acons or losses for bodily injury, property damage, wrongful death, loss of services or otherwise which may arise as a result of the providing of transportaon services to my camper in conjuncon with JCamp acvies including without limitaon transportaon to, from or during any camp acvity. USE OF LIKENESS RELEASE I, the parent or guardian, agrees to irrevocably grant to Westside JCC and to their employees, agents, and assigns — the right to take your camper's photograph, record your camper, or use their image, silhouee, and/or other reproducons of their physical likeness, as well as their voice and/or words, for all purposes related to markeng and promoon of Westside JCC, across all media. These rights are granted in perpetuity. BEHAVIOR POLICY Westside JCC’s JCamp is designed for campers to funcon in an atmosphere dedicated not only to individual growth but also to bunk cohesion. These situaons somemes smulate various behaviors including both posive and negave peer pressures. Since our program populaon is a sampling of the world we live in, we deem it advisable to delineate very clearly what Westside JCC’s standards and rules are and what acon we will take in our role as “substute parents” in the event that these rules are broken. NOT ALLOWED:

a. Illegal acvity, including possession or use of any drug or substance. b. Possession or consumpon of alcoholic beverages. c. Possession of tobacco products. d. Possession or sale of pornographic materials. e. Possession of knives or weapons of any kind. f. Acvity detrimental to the welfare or health of others, including, but not limited to,

persistent physical or verbal abuse, the, or vandalism. Westside JCC will charge the offender for repairs or removal of graffi.

g. Certain items and acvies at Westside JCC are not necessary or are inappropriate by Westside JCC staff (i.e., violent or abuse lyrics, etc.), matches, lighters, fireworks, or incense of any kind.

h. Unauthorized cell phones are not permied at Westside JCC. i. Unauthorized animals are not permied at Westside JCC.

Should we have reason to suspect a parcipant of violang any of the above rules, we respond as follows: For a, b, c, d, & e, and in cases of the (f), we reserve the right to search the parcipant’s possessions in their presence. If we determine a violaon of the rules has occurred, we will nofy the parcipant’s parents. Violaon of a or b will result in immediate dismissal. In the case of c, d, or f, disciplinary acon may be taken aer full consideraon. In regard to f, Westside JCC encourages respect of other parcipants and staff. Any parcipant who does not adhere to this philosophy will be counseled, and if necessary, disciplined by us. If such counseling and discipline does not result in cooperaon and beer behavior, we will consult with parents. We then reserve the right to suspend a parcipant from the program. This behavior may also affect future enrollment, and we do reserve the right not to allow a parcipant back into the program.

We also feel that a safe and successful programming experience requires adherence to a few rules and regulaons regarding safety procedures. Persistent and willful disregard for these rules and regulaons is considered sufficient reason for expulsion. This will not be enforced without first communicang with parents and making every effort to secure cooperaon. Being a part of Westside JCC means doing acvies together. Parcipants are expected to join in group acvies and are encouraged to parcipate in all program acvies. ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY RELATING TO CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organizaon. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend physical distancing and have, in many locaons, prohibited the congregaon of groups of people. Westside Jewish Community Center the parent organizaon of JCamp (hereinaer “JCamp”) has put in place preventave measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, JCamp cannot guarantee that I or my camper(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19. Furthermore, I acknowledge aending JCamp may increase the risk for myself and my camper(ren)’s risk of contracng COVID-19. By accepng this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that I and my camper(ren) may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by aending JCamp and that such exposure or infecon may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, or death. Addionally, I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at JCamp may result from the acons, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, JCamp employees, volunteers, and program parcipants and their families. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my camper(ren) or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my camper(ren) may experience or incur in connecon with my camper(ren)’s aendance at JCamp or parcipaon in Westside Jewish Community Center programming. On behalf of myself, and my campers in aendance, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless JCamp, its employees, agents, and representaves, of and from the Claims, including all liabilies, claims, acons, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relang thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the acons, omissions, or negligence of JCamp, its employees, agents, and representaves, whether a COVID-19 infecon occurs before, during, or aer parcipaon in any JCamp program. JCAMP ILLNESS, HYGIENE, PHYSICAL DISTANCING EXPECTATIONS As a condion of enrollment, families must agree to all of our illness, hygiene, and physical distancing expectaons without excepon. Failure to meet these expectaons is grounds for immediate disenrollment.

● Maintain sensible, praccal physical distancing.
