Outline
Reconfigurable core network A “Reconfigurable mobility management platfor
m” is proposed Expected to provide a new direction for the heter
ogeneous networks integration Two extensions Security extension: Authentication, Authorization
… SIP extension: Reconfigurability between SIP and
MIP
3
SIP extension
Currently, only MIP is used as macro-mobility protocol in RAMP. MN could choose SIP or MIP as the
mobility management protocol while roaming across macro domain.
Integrate SIP in the RAMP architecture In SIP, MN needs to established a SIP
session with a CN while MIP needs not.
4
SIP extension
CN
MIP HA
SIP Registrar
MN MN
Switch form MIP to SIP while roaming
1. Roaming
0. Data path using MIP
2.1 Location update
2.2 Re-invite CN. And new data path.
5
Security Issues
Architecture security issue: Handle issues such as authentication and
authorization in the core network. Prevent potential security holes in the
core network.
Reconfigurable authentication protocol: MN could select protocol to authenticate
itself to the core network
