When I’m not serving in the church, school, and out in the community, I love doing anything out-doors, like playing soccer, running, biking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, and camping. I think it would be wrong of me not to also mention my amazing girl-friend, Miranda. She currently lives in Sheboygan Falls, WI, and works full time in Human Resources for a manufacturing company in Sheboygan.

God has truly blessed me with so much to be thank-ful for in my life, and I can’t wait to see the blessings that God will continue to work out in my life and in

Dear Members of Trinity Lutheran Church,

I t has been my pleasure and honor to serve as Principal at Faribault Lutheran School for the past three years. I have had countless mo-

ments of joy and thanksgiving as well as support from so many of you during my time at FLS. It is time for me to move on in my career and focus more on my family. A s I am sure many of you are aware, all trips to LAMP communities have been cancelled for this summer. I continue to talk with our friends and loved ones there. So far everyone is safe at South Indian Lake. Good news is our young mother, who lost a baby last summer, gave birth to a baby girl in Thompson on Saturday.

All praise and glory to God.

Because of not being able to go this summer, Roger and I put together four boxes for the community. We mailed them to different areas of South Indian Lake so they can be shared with many others. We included past crafts, color sheets and new colors. We also purchased 'Teach Us to Pray' books, puzzles and UNO games. The cost to mail was covered by you - Trinity. Roger and I are so grateful and thankful for that gift.

When I spoke with the grandma of the new baby, I thanked her for letting me know, and she said, “You guys are family, of course, I would let you know.”

Even though our team is unable to go this summer physically, we will continue to pray and keep in touch with our friends. May the Lord keep everyone safe in these troubled times.

RELIGION IN THE REPUBLIC

CELEBRATE WITH A PIE!

T he Trinity Pie-makers have frozen, ready-to-bake pies available for sale. Pies can be purchased through the church office or by contacting a pie-maker. Available kinds include rhubarb, rhubarb strawberry, rhubarb custard, apple,

Dutch apple, peach, and starting in July, blueberry pies will also become available.

“Cut my pie into four pieces, I don’t think I could eat eight.” ~Yogi Berra

D espotism may govern without faith, but liberty cannot. Religion is much more necessary in the republic which they set forth in glowing colors than in the mon-archy which they attack; it is more needed in democratic republics than in any

others. How is it possible that society should escape destruction if the moral tie is not strength-ened in proportion as the political tie is relaxed? And what can be done with a people who are their own masters if they are not submissive to the Deity?

—Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859)

I n 2000, Cornealious Anderson was sentenced to 13 years for robbery. The 23-year-old was released on bail

and told to await orders to show up to prison. But due to a clerical error, those orders never came. Some people might have taken advantage of such freedom and committed more crimes. But Anderson started a business, coached youth football and volunteered at church, earning respect in his community. Thirteen years later, when Missouri officials discovered the error and put Anderson behind bars, an online petition

HOW WILL WE USE OUR FREEDOM?

called for his release. A judge agreed that An-derson was a changed man and, again, he was freed. What would you do with such undeserved

freedom? What do we do with the unmerited freedom God grants us despite our sin, and with the freedoms we celebrate on July 4? May we follow Anderson’s example and use our freedoms — social and spiritual — to serve others.

RICE COUNTY FAIR 2020 CANCELLED

INSTALLATION SERVICE

Welcome to our new Associate Pastor!

A special Installation Service for Rev. Tyler Werner will be held at Trinity, Faribault on Sunday, July 5 at 2:00 p.m.

You are invited to attend the special communion service for his installa-tion. If you do not feel comfortable attending in-person worship at this time, the service will also be live streamed.

MOVING DAY: If you can help Pastor Werner move into his new apartment, please meet at the Boldt Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m. Thanks for your help!

Pastor Rieger will conduct special Communion Services after the regular worship services with the following schedule:

T After the 10:30 a.m. service on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.

T After the 8:00 a.m. service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.

If you would like to receive the Lord’s Supper, you are invited to attend. Special sanitary and social distancing precautions will be taken.

I t is with a heavy heart after long discussion, the Rice County Fair Board has voted to cancel the Rice County Fair for 2020. The decision was made based upon the potential impossibility of moni-

toring and enforcing social distancing requirements, the health and safety of the community, the fair's vendors, carnival, staff, and exhibitors, as well as to pre-serve the financial ability of the Rice County Agricultural Society to present future fairs.

After many questions, the main concern was, how would we conduct a fair with so many restrictions in place? Safety is the number one priority for the Fair Board; the ability to sterilize equipment, tables, carnival rides and much more would make it exceedingly difficult to conduct the fair. We, in good conscience, cannot risk peo-ple getting sick, or worse, because they attended the Rice County Fair. The decision to cancel was difficult and not made lightly as it impacts many people and organizations in our county, but we feel it is the best decision for all involved. The Rice County Fair is proud and grateful of the public's support it has received over the years. The Fair Board is immensely proud of those who volunteer, the community organizations, the vendors, the exhibitors, and everyone that makes the Rice County Fair happen.

T he sin of the world is paid for. God’s Law has been kept perfectly on our behalf. The prophecies have all been fulfilled. Jesus Christ has finished it all! And that,

dear Christians, should fill us with complete confidence in our salvation. Since Jesus has finished all these things in His self-sacrifice, we can be fully certain our sins are forgiven, and we have everlasting life!

St. Paul wrote: “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Rom. 12:1)

We hear the same teaching in 1 Peter. “As you come to him, a liv-ing stone, rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and pre-cious, you yourselves, like living stones, are being built up as a spir-itual house, to be a holy priest-hood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:4-5)

It’s the very thing Malachi fore-told of the Lord, that He would come and purify His priestly peo-ple, that they may offer to Him an offering in righteousness. (Mal. 3:3)

So, what does this mean? In view of God’s mercies – that is, because Jesus sacrificed Himself to make us pure, giving His entire self into death – Paul said that we are to sacrifice ourselves entirely to God, offering Him our whole lives. For our Savior did not give Himself for us in part. So, we do not give back to Him in part.

We don’t offer ourselves to God just on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings, for example. Rather, we give Him our whole selves, all the time. We understand that offering our-selves to God as living sacrifices involves the giving of our time. It requires us to be faithful stewards of the time He has given us. Yes, it means we devote to our Savior all our time. Otherwise we are not sacrificing our whole lives.

You see, God both teaches us, and has graciously qualified us, to present ourselves to Him as living sacrifices – to live as

LIVING SACRIFICES

His holy priests, who offer Him acceptable sacrifices through Jesus Christ, all day, every day, in our various callings.

In the passages from Romans and 1 Peter, we hear several examples of Christian self-sacrifice: serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, showing mer-cy, living peaceably with others, submitting to gov-erning authorities and those over us in the workplace,

wives submitting to husbands, husbands honoring wives, show-ing compassion, and suffering pa-tiently in doing good.

In all these things, and in all our other everyday activities, we sac-rifice ourselves by using our time, not just for our own benefit, but also and especially for the well-being of others. Work time, school time, exercise time, study time, mealtime, chore time, rec-reation and relaxation time, even sleep time – it’s all God’s gift to us to use for purposes that please and honor Him.

This challenges us to think about the way we spend our time, how we utilize our talents, and the way we spend our treasures. Whatever it is I’m doing, am I doing it “for the Lord”? (Col. 3:23) Am I pre-senting God a living sacrifice? Am I conducting myself as a holy

priest, whose sacrifice is acceptable to God?

Because our Lord sacrificed Himself wholly for us, we offer ourselves wholly to Him as living sacrifices. This is following Jesus in self-sacrifice. By His saving mercy, yes, our sacrifice is acceptable to God. For the sake of Jesus’ finished work, God is pleased with us.

T here is no known end date in this fight against coronavirus, and the Red Cross urgently needs the help of blood and platelet donors and blood drive hosts to meet the needs of patient care. Please schedule your next donation appointment now to help

prevent another blood shortage. For a limited time, the Red Cross will test all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies as an additional health service to our donors.
