The fl exible Teaching File that is packed with ideas Whether you wish to follow the structure of the Teaching File or use it as dip-in resource is up to you. This extensive resource gives you the fl exibility to teach in the order and at a pace that is just right for your class. Use the Teaching File for:

> Starter Activities: Get each lesson off to a fl ying start with the lively oral and mental activities that help you give your pupils a really good grounding in mental work. There are two different types of starter activities to choose from: ‘Tune-ins’ and ‘Starters and other mental activities’.

> Teaching Activities: The varied activities offer a choice of whole-class teaching activities that makes sure you can cover all the topics thoroughly. With carefully structured progression and differentiation, the right balance of practical and oral work is provided.

> Consolidation and Extension: The pupil activities provide a choice of group and individual activities for consolidation, practice and extension. Further teaching activities provide alternative teaching suggestions for use with groups or with the whole class. The Teaching File for SHM 1–3 also includes photocopiable pupil sheets with recording sheets, extra practice and follow-up activities.
