3. Advertising & Identification

Boats and competitors shall comply with ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code. Competing boats may be required to dis-play advertising of the Event Sponsor as provided by the Or-ganizing Authority.3.1. Boats may be required to display identification

numbers.3.2. Competitors aboard the boats ranked first, second

and third in the series at the beginning of each day, shall wear yellow, blue and red bibs respectively while racing. The bibs will be provided by the Orga-nizing Authority.

4. Eligibility and Entry

4.1. The event is open to all current members of the International 5O5 Class Yacht Racing Association.

4.2. Eligible boats shall enter by completing the registra-tion form available on the Championship web site www.worlds505.de under the menu item “Entry” and paying the required fee.

4.3. All competitors shall be members of a National Au-thority recognized by ISAF.

4.4. All competitors shall comply with RRS 75.4.5. No later than 1st August 2014, a boat shall enter

the regatta.Online-entries (www.manage2sail.de) are prefer-red. The official entry form must be used and filled in completely. The Organizing Authority shall be authorized to collect the entry fee electronically.

4.6. Competitors under 18 years of age shall present a signed and completed parent (or guardian) consent and declaration form at registration. The forms are available for download on the event website.

1. Definitions

1.1. Event: The term event refers to all the organized on-water and off-water activities taking place at Kieler Yacht-Club (KYC) premises from the beginning of the pre-regatta Equipment Inspection to the end of the closing ceremonies.

1.2. Organizers: The term organizers encompass everyo-ne helping to run the event. This includes, but not restricted to KYC staff and volunteers, 5O5 Associ-ation volunteers, the event delivery team, the Race Committee, the Race Officer, safety boat crews and beach masters. It excludes any of the sponsors or their staff.

1.3. Organizing Authority: Kieler Yacht-Club (KYC), in conjunction with the German 5O5 Association and the German Sailing Federation (DSV), on behalf of the International 5O5 Class Yacht Racing Associati-on, under the auspices of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).

2. Rules

2.1. The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as de-fined in ISAF’s The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

2.2. No national prescriptions will apply.2.3. Subject to the approval of the Race Committee, a

boat chartered or loaned for the events may be declared at the time of entry or registration a sail number which may be different from the registered number of the hull provided that the number decla-red shall not be the sail number of any other boat competing in the regatta.

2.4. If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.

5. Fees

Fees are stated in Euro. Entries received not later than 14th May 2014 will qualify for the Early Entry Fee.

5.1. The Entry Fee includes admission to the social events, including:

(1) Opening Ceremony (2) Mid-Week Party (3) Price Giving and Farewell Ceremony

(incl. Dinner) Additional tickets for companions are available via the Online-entry and at the Check-In.

5.2. The Entry fee has to be paid via the entry form online.

5.3. No refunds will be given once an entry has been received.

7.3. Only one hull, two sets of sails, one set of spars and one set of foils may be presented for inspection.

7.4. Each boat shall present the following additional saf-ety equipment during the inspection:(1) A tow-line of minimum length of 10 meters and

6 mm diameter.(2) A paddle of minimum blade area 250mm x

125mm, minimum length 750mm.(3) A Personal Floatation Device for each crew

member, which shall comply with ISAF Wording.7.5. Boats may be subject to further inspections at any

time during the regattas.

8. Sailing Instructions

The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

9. Venue

9.1. The regatta will be held at the Olympic-Center Kiel-Schilksee.

9.2. The racing area will be Kiel Bay.

10. Course

The courses will be detailed in the sailing instructions. Gate starts will be used for all races unless otherwise determined by the Race Officer.

11. International Jury

An International Jury will be constituted for the Championships and decisions of the International Jury will be final as provided in RRS 70.5.

12. Scoring

12.1. Three (3) races shall be completed to constitute the Worlds. One (1) race shall be completed to constitute the Pre-Worlds.

12.2. When only three (3) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

12.3. When four (4) to seven (7) races have been comple-ted, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

12.4. When eight (8) or more races have been comple-ted, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

13. Support Boats

13.1. All support boats shall be registered by the Organi-zing Authority and will be required to comply with local legislation and event support boat regulations. The Organizing Authority may refuse registrations and accept later registrations at their sole discretion.

13.2. Support boats with team leaders, coaches and other support personnel shall stay outside areas where boats are racing from the time of the preparatory signal for the first fleet to start until all boats have finished or the Race Committee signals a postpone-ment, general recall or abandonment.

13.3. All coaches and other support personnel shall wear personal flotation devices which are in good condi-tion. The driver shall connect all time to the boat by the quick-stop.

13.4. All support boats shall clearly display the 3 letter national code of their ISAF Member National Autho-rity or the national flag at all times while afloat. The minimum height for the letters shall be 200 mm and visible from both sides of the boat.

6.1. Nine (9) races are scheduled for the Worlds and four (4) races are scheduled for the Pre-Worlds.

6.2. There will be a maximum of 2 races per day during the World Championships.

6.3. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race of the World Championship is 13.00 hrs.

6.4. When more than one race will be held on the same day, the warning signal for each succeeding race will be made as soon as practicable, after the finish of the previous race.

6.5. On the last day of the World Championship no war-ning signal will be made after 15.00 hrs.

7. Measurement

7.1. Equipment inspection will take place at the event location.

7.2. Each boat shall present a valid 5O5 Class measure-ment certificate before end of measurement period.

as also all other individuals who were instructed to act in connection with the realization of the event. The effective racing rules of the ISAF, the administ-rative regulations regatta sailing and the articles of association of the DSV, the class rules as well as the regulations of the invitation to the competition and the sailing instructions are to be complied with and are expressly recognized.

17.2. The German law shall prevail.

18. Media Rights, Cameras and electronic equipment

18.1. By participating in the event automatically grant to the Organizing Authority and their sponsors the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduc-tions of the athlete during the period of the compe-tition without compensation.

18.2. Boats may be required to carry cameras, sound equipment or positioning equipment as specified and provided by the Organizing Authority.

18.3. The top three competitors as well as the individual race winners may be required to attend a media press conference each day.

18.4. Competitors may be required for interviews at the regatta.

19. Insurance

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid (and for the racing area suitable) third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 3,000,000 € per event or the equivalent.

13.5. Support boats are required to monitor the safety VHF radio frequency at all times and shall be requi-red to undertake safety duties at the direction of the Race Officer.

13.6. All registered support boats shall comply with sup-port boat regulations posted on the notice board.

14. Berthing

Boats shall be kept in the assigned area in the dinghy park and shall maintain the same location in the dinghy park for the duration of the event.

15. Radio communication

Except in an emergency, or when using equipment supplied by the Organizing Authority, a boat shall neither make nor receive radio transmissions, text messages or cellular phone calls while racing.

16. Prizes

16.1. Pre Worlds:Prizes will also be awarded to the first three (3) boats of the Pre Worlds Championship.

16.2. World Championship Perpetual Trophies:• The Globe 1st Overall• The Chinese Junk 2nd Overall• The Willis Trophy 3rd Overall

16.3. Race Prizes:In addition to the Perpetual Trophies, the following prizes will be presented:

• The top ten crews overall• The first female team• The first youth team

(both team members born on or after 1.1.1989) • The first mixed gender team

• Last boat overall who has finished all races16.4. Other prizes may be awarded.

17. Disclaimer of Liability

17.1. The responsibility for the decision to participate in a race or to continue with it is solely with the skipper; to that extent the skipper also accepts full responsi-bility for the crew. The skipper is responsible for the qualification and the correct nautical conduct of the crew as well as for the suitability and the trans-port-safe condition of the registered boat. In cases of Force Majeure or on grounds of administrative orders or for safety reasons, the organizer is entitled to make changes in the realization of the event or to cancel the event. This does not constitute any liability by the organizer towards the participant, if the reasons for the changes or the cancellation do not result from a willful or grossly negligent beha-vior of the organizer. In case of a violation of obli-gations that do not constitute primary or material contractual duties (cardinal obligations), the liability of the organizer for financial and property damages incurred by the participant during or in connection with the participation in the event and resulting from a conduct of the organizer, its representatives, servants or agents, is restricted to damages that were caused willfully or grossly negligent. When a violation of cardinal obligations occurs due to minor negligence, the liability of the organizer is limited to foreseeable, typical damages. To the extent that the liability for damages of the organizer is excluded or restricted, the participant also relieves the staff, employees and representatives, agents, servants, sponsors and individuals who provide or drive salvage, safety or rescue vessels or assist with their use from the individual liability for damages, as well

IV.2. Class and private parties during the event in the harbor area must have the permission of the Organizing Authority. Applications shall be made prior to the event.
