1. PrefaceThe new I.S. termination board and wire harness provide the customer using the 6000 component kit series with a user-friendly way to connect all the field devices (user interface, vent, temperature hub, solenoid valve, and inputs) to the EPCU mounted in the Ex d housing. The terminal board is connected to the EPCU through the wire harness. The 6000-ISB is mounted inside the customer-pressurized enclosure or another enclosure. Standard lengths of the wire harness cable are 0.3, 1, or 2 meters. Custom lengths are available upon request with a price adder. This system requires the customer to install the wire harness fitting into the 6000 Ex d enclosure and wire to the I.S. termination connector on the EPCU. The color-coded wires are easy to see and the instructions provide clear directions for connection. The customer can cut the cable to specific lengths.

The 6000-ISB-01 and 6000-CBLA-ISB-* is purchased separately from the 6000 Series component kit and provides a simple way to terminate components.

2. SafetyValidity

The chapter “Safety” is valid as instruction manual.

Specific processes and instructions in this document require special precautions to guarantee the safety of the operating personnel.

Target Group / Personnel

Responsibility for planning, assembly, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and dismounting lies with the system operator.

Mounting, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and disassembly of any devices may only be carried out by trained, qualified personnel. The instruction manual must be read and understood.

Mounting/Installation

Prior to mounting, installation, and commissioning of the device you should make yourself familiar with the device and carefully read the instruction manual.

The device must not be installed at locations where corrosive vapors may be present.

Do not install damaged or polluted devices.

The devices may be installed in a corrosive location acc. to ISA-S71.04-1985, severity level G3.

Only use accessories specified by the manufacturer.

• In order to ensure protection against electric shock, observe the following instructions: Keep sufficient separation distance between conductors, terminals, housing, and environment.

• Insulate conductors, terminals, and housing from the environment.

Installation Note on Cable Glands

Use only one wire per opening.

Installation Notes on Cables and Wires

Disconnect the device before you plug or unplug the terminals.

The insulation stripping length must be considered.

The tightening torque for the screws of the terminal must be considered.

If you use stranded wires, crimp on wire end ferrules.

The cabling must not be strained and an adequate strain relief must be provided.

Never pull the cable. A wire could become loose from the terminal and protection against contact can no longer be ensured. Always pull the terminal plug.

Product Related

Prevent any electrostatic charge that could result in electrostatic discharge while installing or operating the device.

Install the device in locations with a low risk of mechanical danger according to IEC/EN 60079-0 only.

For intrinsically safe circuits, the dielectric strength of the insulation against other intrinsically safe circuits and against the shield must be at least 500 V according to IEC/EN 60079-14.

Type of Protection

The device must be disconnected from the power supply prior to installation and maintenance. The power supply may be activated only after all the circuits required for operation have been fully assembled and connected.

Disconnect the device, before you plug or unplug the terminals.

Housings and Surrounding Enclosures

The surrounding enclosures must have a declaration of conformity according to 94/9/EC.

The surrounding enclosures must have an EC-type-examination certificate according to 94/9/EC.

If additional surrounding enclosures are needed for installation in hazardous areas, the following points must be considered/evaluated:

Page 5: 5000Q Series CONTROL SYSTEM FOR THEZONE 2 …files.pepperl-fuchs.com/.../doct/tdoctb0p8__eng.pdf · 2016-11-29 · 6000-ISB Installation - Assembly Instructions 3 1. Preface The new

The I.S. termination board has open terminals and must be mounted in an enclosure. For a hazardous gas atmosphere, the enclosure can be the customer’s pressurized enclosure, or another enclosure rated IP54 or greater.

The I.S. termination board is not certified to be mounted in a hazardous dust atmosphere and has to be either outside the hazardous area or mounted in an enclosure rated for the dust area. The pressurized enclosure does not meet this requirement because before cleaning out and pressurizing the pressurized enclosure, power to the I.S. termination board is required for the system to work. Contact Pepperl+Fuchs for dust-proof enclosures.
