I enjoyed this book as if reading poetry, and because it’stoo long to be copied and I don’t think I might find it online, I

thought I might share with you the notes I’ve taken while.reading it

Those are dali’s secrets in becoming a painter, a masterpainter. The book title suggests 50 secrets, I wrote down the

:one I understood because they’re not listed

.attained itNow at forty­five I want to paint a masterpiece and to saveModern Art from chaos and laziness. I will succeed! This

book is consecrated to this crusade and I dedicate it to all”.the young, who have faith in painting

And now I quote the first paragraph from the first chapter of:the book which are by the way five

And here comes the secrets as much as I can squeeze:them

You need five brushes to paint: Flat Square Brush, .1Round Short Brush, Fan Brush, Long Thin Brush and

.Stipple Brush.Sound sleep is recommended before starting any work .2

.When you paint always think of something else .3.At the same time paint to a certain idea .4

When you prevent yourself from doing and force yourself .5.to do, the dream will do

Some elements in nature have sympathy for each other, .6.others have antipathy

Everything the eye sees is constantly formed by .7.everything this eye has seen before

Train yourself to be able to construct what you want of .8.image in your eyes

.Plant olive and myrtle around you .9.Avoid radical colors like greens, snows and tropicals .10

Remain chaste during the inspiration and conception of .11.the painting

.Mark your work before hand on the calendar .12.Most important work should be done in six days .13.The greatest enemy of a masterpiece is fantasy .14

You must know when your painting is finished, because .15.over working it will destroy it

After each painting session observe your painting with .16.and without a mirror

Understand the form of olive to understand the woman .17.face

.Spider is the painter friend from whom he is inspired .18.Learn to paint long before you draw .19

.Start with a monochromatic wash then add colors .20The first form of art you should be familiar with is .21

.Architecture.Music is harmful to painting .22

.an oblique light, to see your progress.The best two colors ever are Black and White .30

Practice on producing monochromatic paintings using .31.Black and White only

.For mixing shadows use Naples Yellow .32The color Black D’argent dries quickly, Zinc White .33

.should be added as a final coating.Blacks are the slowest to dry and most transparent .34

The tone of Ivory Black is Ivory, the tone of Blue Black is .35.with a Blue tinge

.Silver White is warm and Zinc White is icy .36.Let painting dry naturally .37

Ivory Black is for under painting, Blue Black is used to .38.cover it

If you are a classic painter, place the colors in your .39.pallet in the same order each time

.Burnt Umber is the fastest color to dry .40.It is advisable to use Burnt Sienna .41

For under painting use the most transparent colors, .42.Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine Blue

.To paint sea foam use a color soaked sponge .43When painting, from time to time look at the same color .44

sort of a bibliography of dali's life and his ideas in art, philosophy, relationships and

Well, some of these books are available online. At the sametime if you live here in the US and are interested in somebooks I would be more than glad to share some of what Ihave with you. I go to a used bookstore and sometimes I

pick up repeat copies of the same book. I am just glad thereare people who like to read and can really get into a book

and get something out of it. So, I have Secret of Happinessby His Holiness Dalai Lama. I haven't read it but this kind ofself help books is now everywhere, too much probably, a

major sign of America. A quick fix for everything, same waylike instant tea. I personally like for my tea to boil and even

.simmer and simmer

frankly they bore me

 i do a lot of reading myaelf and i have a personal library

i've started just recenty in reading arabic letirature, apartfrom jobran khaleel jobran

it seems you're into mysticism if you have the dalai lamabook

my father brought me some books from the states but itseems he still thinks of me as a

child

if you can recomend any arabic titles i'll be glad
