EFEK SITOPATIK
• Cytopathic effect atau cytopathogenic effect (CPE)
• PERUBAHAN MORFOLOGI DAN STRUKTUR SEL
• EFEK SITOPATIK BISA DIAMATI DI BAWAH MIKROSKOP SETELAH SEL YANG TERINFEKSI VIRUS DIWARNAI DENGAN PEWARNA SPESIFIK.
• Rounding of the cell (bulatan-bulatan sel/menggelembung)
• Inclusion bodies (badan inklusi) : gabungan virion atau komponen-komponen virus sehingga membentuk agregat.
• Terdapat di sitoplasma atau nukleus
• Diberi nama berdasarkan penemu atau penyakit yang disebabkan oleh virus tersebut: badan inklusi Negri (rabies), Guar-nieri (vaccinia-variola), Lipschutz (herpes-simplex).
• Syncytia/polykaryocytes (sinsitia/polikariot): massa sitoplasma yang besar, mengandung banyak nukleus (poli: banyak, karion: inti), fusi atau gabungan sel-sel yang terinfeksi.
