‘it has always been my vision to combine my hobby of philately with my professional activity. therefore i am very happy to host the 2018 international philatelic Summit at SAni reSort. i welcome all keen collectors of stamps and postal history. My team and myself will do everything for you to feel like being in paradise.’

Stavros Andreadis

Welcome to the InternatIonal PhIlatelIc SummIt 2018

Following the sequence with four successful International Philatelic Summits from 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2017 which all took place in Sweden, the next International Philatelic Summit on 5-7 April 2018 will be located to SANI DUNES in Greece.

SANI RESoRt is situated on the magnificent Kassandra peninsula, the first of the three beach-fringed peninsulas of Halkidiki, 90km from thessaloniki Airport. SANI overlooks Mount olympus and is close to the glorious but unspoiled beaches of the Sithonia peninsula. A special place where nature and man exist in harmony. SANI is a family-owned ecological reserve stretching across 1,000 acres, with endless golden beaches enchantingly framed by the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean and the magnificent pine forests of the Kassandra peninsula.

Beach life meets high life at SANI DUNES. A chic destination where the sophisticated ambience, exceptional cuisine and 'grown-up' environment promise the warmest of welcomes. Where contemporary style combines perfectly with sublime touches of Mediterranean elegance; handcrafted furniture, gorgeous fabrics and natural woods abound. While the exclusive spa, private beach and expansive pools simply add to the pleasure.

With the Global Philatelic Network as organizer of the International Philatelic Summits, we will for the next Summit develop the concepts as being a destination event for philatelists, who show up at an event where no medals are handed out. the interest in collecting and exhibiting in all of its facets is so strong that people dedicate several days to the formal presentations with ‘Questions & Answers’, informal discussions and workshops that pepper the days, and so we will take the next step in this development.

Any serious philatelist is welcome, the only qualification being one’s interest in philately. the Summit addresses collectors, exhibitors, experienced judges, apprentice judges, philatelic experts and dealers.

the next philatelic Summit will take place from 5-7 April 2018. the three days will be allocated to presentations, seminars and workshops.

the Summit presentations will be a mix of key-note presentations from speakers who will give formal presentations, and a mix of presentations conducted by speakers who are invited among all participants. Almost 50% of the time will be allocated to interactive workshops.

project Manager and chairman of the philatelic Summit 2018 will be Jonas Hällström rDp from Sweden.

the Summit will be conducted as a Joint Venture between the Global philatelic network and SAni reSort, where SAni offers:

JonaS hällStröm rDP FrPSl(SWeDen)

For the fifth time Jonas Hällström is organizer of an International Philatelic Summit. He is well known having organized four International Philatelic Summits (2009, 2012, 2014 and 2017) in Sweden. For the second time, Jonas is working together with The Global Philatelic Network to develop the Philatelic Summit platform, and this time we are organizing the Philatelic Summit in Greece. Jonas is a very experienced philatelist and exhibitor, active with four different exhibits representing three different philatelic disciplines at international exhibitions. All four exhibits reaching Gold or Large Gold medals and recognized for their outstanding performances in Postal History, Postal Stationery and thematic Philately. Jonas was the European Champion in Thematic Philately in Paris (2010) with his exhibit “the History of the Square-rigged Sailing Vessels”. He is a FIP judge and team-leader in thematic philately. Jonas was elected to sign the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 2016.

Chris intended to retire from business, and then to enjoy a quiet philatelic life. His mistake was to discover organized philately. He was elected a member of the Royal Philatelic Society in 2005, became a Vice-President in 2009, and President in 2013. Still serving as a member of Council, Chris is responsible for moving the world’s oldest society to a new home. He served as Keeper of the Roll and Secretary of the Board of Election to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (2009-2015). As Chairman of the British Philatelic trust 2010-2015, he reorganized it, partly to fund London’s new postal museum, and also to maintain support for philately in the United Kingdom and generally. As an exhibitor he has three different Large Gold and two other Gold medal exhibits, all in postal history, specializing in northern Germany and Denmark from the earliest times to the twentieth century. As a life-long lover of the theatre, one of the most exacting art forms, he expects his exhibits to be distinctive, and to be recognizably his in design and execution. Chris speaks widely on postal history, on all aspects of the skill and craft of exhibiting, especially the place of Postal History in the wider world of cultural History, and the necessity for the discipline to both inform and entertain.

Simon has a picture of himself holding his first Stamp Album at the age of two! He has had some form of collection since then but it was in 1987 that he first got interested in the history and stamps of Sarawak. His collection comprises all aspect of Sarawak philately and is now considered as the greatest ever assembled. He has won two ‘Large Golds’ in the traditional Class, the last being in Singapore in 2015. He is now attempting to emulate this in both Airmails and Postal Stationery. He has been the President of the Sarawak Society, is a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society London,

and is an active member of the Club de Monte Carlo where he has exhibited since 2008. He exhibits regularly in the UK, has exhibited at the Collectors Club of New York but still considers that his greatest honour and challenge was to undertake the ‘1 p.m.’ display at the Royal Philatelic Society in 2012. 52 Frames is a major challenge for anyone, but if you collect a small country such as Sarawak, then presentation and aesthetics are so important to keep the viewer interested.

henrIK mourItSen(DenMArK) Henrik Mouritsen applies his scientific skills from professional life and his character as a perfectionist into his collecting. Henrik is the initiator and keeper of the database recording documenting the rarity of Danish domestic stamp-franked mail 1851-1907, he has published more than 50 philatelic articles, and he is currently working on the definitive 6 volume Handbook on the „Danish Postal Rates and Regulations 1875-1907“. Henrik qualified as a national judge in Canada, the USA, Denmark and Germany and became a FIP postal history judge in 2009. He is a member of the Postal History Bureau of the FIP. Henrik’s postal history exhibit “Danish Postal Rates 1875-1907” is famous for being the first Danish exhibit of non-first issues ever to get a FIP large gold medal (Bangkok 2003). Later, the exhibit won Grand Prix International at IBRA 2009. His traditional exhibit “the bicoloured øre stamps 1875-1906” got felicitations at London 2010 and multiple large gold medals. His postal stationery exhibit “the classical postal stationery of Denmark 1865-1905” got 96 points and best in class at London 2015. In fact, Henrik has never exhibited an 8-frame exhibit at a FIP or FEPA exhibition that did not get at least 95 points. Henrik gave his first speech at the first Philatelic Summit in Malmö (2009), his second speech at the second Philatelic Summit in Malmö (2012), and so this will be his third appearance as a speaker at the Philatelic Summit.

KlauS WeIS (GerMAny) Since 2006 Klaus is the President of Deutscher Altbriefsammler-Verein e.V. (DASV) – one of the most important societies for postal history in the German speaking area. In 1999 he started exhibiting Baden postal history (routes and rates). this exhibit was awarded Grand Prix National “Samolux 2001”, FIP Large Gold in Bangkok 2003 and Valencia 2004 and “Golden post horn” Sindelfingen 2004. Since this time he published several articles about different themes of postal history in various magazines. Between 2003 and 2005 he organised seminars for exhibitors in Germany. In 2006 he was the event manager of the “Baden-Salon” in the Castle of Karlsruhe. In 2009 Klaus was awarded the “Prof. Dr. Carlrichard Brühl-Medal”. Since 2011 he is chairman of the international symposium for postal history at the stamp fair in Sindelfingen. In 2016 he started his second exhibit of Baden postal history (markings of the post offices) which was recently awarded Large Gold at the bilateral national exhibition Denmark – Germany “Oldenburg 2017” and “Silver post horn” in Sindelfingen 2016. Klaus is a member of various Study Groups as well as the Royal Philatelic Society London. Since some years he is very much interested in studying the development of worldwide intercontinental steamer mail. this subject probably will grow to become his next exhibit.
