� A Hike: Up to 8 miles round trip and up to 1200’ elevation gain.

� B Hike: Up to 12 miles round trip and up to 2500’ elevation gain.

� C Hike: Up to 15 miles round trip and up to 3500’ elevation gain.

� D Hike: Over 15 miles round trip or over 3500’ elevation gain. Technical elements may be present.

� An ‘E’ designation denotes Exposure, as in C-E

� EASY up to 800 ft. gain in elevation� MODERATE up to 1800 ft. gain in elevation� ADVANCED greater than1800 ft. gain in elevation

General program description

Learn the range of skills needed to hike and camp in the wilderness safely. Easy to moderate

terrain On- and off-trail Non-technical (no

ropes)

Learn skills for getting off trails, often on rugged terrain, including climbing moderately steep rock and snow. Ropes are typically not needed but are usually carried for comfort.

Provides training in a wide variety of skills used in technical climbing. Steep to vertical terrain. Courses span the range from introductory to advanced skills on rock, snow and ice. The total program is called the Technical Climbing School [TCS]

Learn special skills needed to safely climb high, glaciated mountains.

Whether you are seeking the joys of ski touring, carving telemark turns or the excitement of ski mountaineering, we have a course for you.

These courses teach safety skills that are relevant to a variety of backcountry activities. (Other courses also address safety in the context of their activities.)

Join the communities of anglers and/or photographers to enjoy schools, clinics, hikes, trips and social events. For first timers as well as advanced participants.
