A KANSAS LOSS WOULD...Make Kansas 1-2 for the first time since the 2005-06 season … Make the KU-Monmouth series 1-0 in favor of Monmouth … Be Kansas’ second loss against current membership of the MAAC (15-2) … End a Kansas 22-game home win streak, which included 21 consecutive wins in Allen Fieldhouse … Make KU 789-114 all-time in Allen Fieldhouse, including 251-14 under Bill Self … Make Self 474-108 while at Kansas and 681-213 for his head coaching career … Make Kansas 2,275-861 all-time.

UNCG LEFTOVERS• The win gave Kansas its 47th consecutive season home

opening victory, a streak which started in 1973-74. • The victory made Kansas 1-1 for the eighth time in the Bill

Self era.• KU’s win made the Jayhawks 94-13 in games following a loss

under Bill Self and 43-5 since 2013-14. • Kansas extended its home court winning streak to 22 games,

including 21 in Allen Fieldhouse. • Kansas’ 36-32 lead at the break marked the first time this

season that Kansas took a lead into the half. Kansas is now 384-31 when leading at the break in the Bill Self era.

• The Jayhawks outrebounded their opponent for the second time this season. KU is now 1-1 in those contests with a record of 352-46 in the Self era.

• Senior Udoka Azubuike finished with a team high 10 rebounds marking the first time the senior has pulled down 10+ rebounds since he grabbed 11 against Vermont on November 12, 2018.

• Azubuike tallied 10 points to go along with his 10 rebounds marking the ninth double-double in his career.

• Senior Isaiah Moss tallied eight points in his KU debut while adding three rebounds.

• Sophomore Devon Dotson notched a career high in free throws made and went 8-for-8 from the line.

• Dotson finished with a team high 22 points adding eight rebounds and six assists while committing just one turnover. His performance marked the third 20+ point night in his career.

• Freshman Tristan Enaruna posted nine points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing two assists in 20 minutes of play.

KANSAS STREAKING AT HOME (AGAIN)Going 17-0 at home in 2018-19, the Jayhawks are once again building an impressive winning streak on their home court, something that has been a common occurrence in Lawrence over recent decades.

KU has won 22-straight home games, 21 of which have come at Allen Fieldhouse (the Dec. 8, 2018 win at Sprint Center considered a home game). The streak currently ranks as the third-longest active among NCAA DI schools. KU’s last home loss came to Oklahoma State on Feb. 3, 2018. In 2018-19, the Jayhawks wrapped up their 20th undefeated season at Allen Fieldhouse and their first since 2015-16.

Since Bill Self took the reins in 2003-04, Kansas as posted seven unblemished records in a season on James Naismith Court. The Jayhawks have won more Big 12 regular-season titles (14) than have lost home games (13) in that span.

Kansas has now posted home-court winning streaks of 20 games or more 15 times, with 11 of those streaks coming at Allen Fieldhouse. The program record is 69-straight home wins from Feb. 7, 2007, to Jan. 22, 2011. That streak is a Big 12 record and the 11th-longest in NCAA DI history.

KANSAS INKS THREE IN EARLY SIGNING PERIODJunior college standout Tyon Grant-Foster (6-foot-7) will be a junior guard in 2020-21. He is currently ranked as the No. 2 junior college recruit in 2019-20. Grant-Foster is from Kansas City, Kan., and plays at Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College. Guard Bryce Thompson (6-foot-5) will be a freshman in 2020-21 and ranks No. 19 by rivals.com and 247Sports Composite. Thompson was the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior while playing at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa.

Center Gethro Muscadin (6-foot-10) will also be a freshman next season and hails from Gonaives, Haiti. He is concluding his prep career at Aspire Academy in Louisville, Ky., and ranks as the 17th best center in this year’s class.

BOUNCING BACKSince Bill Self took the helm of the Jayhawks in 2003, Kansas has been stellar at bouncing back following a loss, and that trend continued on Nov. 8 with KU’s win over UNCG. With the victory over the Spartans, which followed the Jayhawks’ season-opening loss to Duke, Kansas is now 94-13 in games coming off a defeat since 2019, which is the best winning percentage in NCAA DI in that span.

Incredibly, KU has been even more efficient over the last six seasons, amassing a record of 43-5 after losses. This includes an 8-1 mark last season.

AZUBUIKE’S, DOTSON’S PRESEASON HONORS GROWKansas senior Udoka Azubuike and sophomore Devon Dotson have received numerous preseason honors heading into the 2019-20 season. Earlier this week, both were named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 and the Naismith Trophy and NABC Player of the Year watch lists. On Oct. 22, the Associated Press listed the KU duo as receiving votes when it announced its preseason All-America men’s basketball team. A total of 21 players were recognized, voted on by a 65-member media panel. Kansas was the only school with two players listed.

Earlier in October, Azubuike was named the Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year and Preseason All-Big 12 by the conference coaches. He was also named one of 20 on the Kareen Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year watch list. Dotson joined Azubuike on the Preseason All-Big 12 team and was one of 20 on the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year watch list.

Azubuike played in nine games in 2018-19 before an injury sidelined him for the season. The 7-foot-0, 270-pound center from Delta, Nigeria, averaged 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 70.5 percent from the field last season. As a sophomore in leading Kansas to the 2018 Final Four, Azubuike led the nation with a 77.0 field goal percentage, which ranks second-best for a season in NCAA history and set the KU and Big 12 single-season records. He averaged 13.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while being named an All-Big 12 Third Team selection. Azubuike is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.

NOTES • Bill Self was named the eighth coach in Kansas basketball history on April 21, 2003. • In September 2017, Self was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in

Springfield, Massachusetts.• Self won his 600th career game on Dec. 6, 2016, with KU’s 105-62 win against UMKC. He became

the 46th coach in NCAA Division I to accomplish the feat and the ninth fastest.• While at Kansas, Self has won a national championship, a KU- and NCAA-record 14-straight

regular-season Big 12 Conference titles and eight league tournament championships. • At Kansas, Self has won more regular-season league titles (14) than he has home losses (13) in

Allen Fieldhouse. With KU’s win versus Siena (11/18/16), Self became the winningest coach in Allen Fieldhouse, posting his 207th victory in the venue.

• In his first trip to the Final Four in 2008, Self’s team won the title. Self is one of 11 active coaches in NCAA Division I to have won a national title. Kansas’ 14-straight conference titles (2005-18) is the longest streak in NCAA Division I history.

• In Self’s first 15 seasons at Kansas, he has coached 11 NBA Lottery selections including Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid, the No. 1 and No. 3 overall selections in the 2014 NBA Draft. Wiggins was the second-ever Jayhawk to go No. 1 with the other being Danny Manning in 1988.

• Self has guided his teams to 21-straight 23-win seasons dating back to 1998-99. • Self’s teams have won 18 league crowns in the last 21 years. His teams have never finished lower

than third in the conference.• Kansas’ four-straight 30-win seasons from 2009-10 to 2012-13 are the most consecutive 30-win

seasons in NCAA history (note: Memphis did it from 2006-09 yet later vacated the 2008 season). • Self was the head coach for Team USA’s U18 team that competed and won gold at the 2018 FIBA

Americas Championship held in St. Catherines, Canada, in the summer of 2018.• Self is one of five coaches in NCAA Division I history to have led three different teams - Tulsa,

Illinois and Kansas - to the NCAA Elite Eight, including seven times with KU (2004-07-08-11-12-16-17). The other coaches are: Gene Bartow, John Calipari, Rick Pitino and Eddie Sutton.

• A 1985 graduate of Oklahoma State, Self began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Kansas in 1985-86 under head coach Larry Brown. He then returned to his alma mater as an assistant for seven seasons under coaches Leonard Hamilton and Eddie Sutton. His first head coaching job was at Oral Roberts in 1993-94, then Tulsa (1997-98), Illinois (2000-03) and Kansas (2003-present).
