ORPHANS SPONSORSHIP

Having lost one or both parents, some orphans may need external support and care to fulfill their needs. Our OrphanSponsorship programme allows orphans to grow in a safe place and attain as much knowledge possible to be a successful individual in the near future.

Being in this sponsorship programme will ensure each orphan receives good healthcare support, nutritious meals, quality education and a loving home. Hifz orphans will get special hifz Quran classes that are led by experienced Qur’an teachers on top of their basic needs.

MEALS DISTRIBUTION

FOOD AID PACKS DISTRIBUTION

In our efforts to fight world hunger, we distributed meals in Indonesia through their Food Car and Arisan Akhirat Gerobak Rezeki projects. Most of these meals were shared with orphans across Aceh, such as those in Pondok Yatim Tahfiz in Lueng Bata and Panti Asuhan Al Kazeem Putri in Lagang, among others.

4,000 meals were distributed to 200 tahfiz students for 10 days at the Islamic Center of MUI Central Sulawesi and the Otak Kanan Foundation. Our Sri Lanka team also distributed Biryani meals as part of our Share-A-Biryani Meal project.

They were distributed on Fridays to amplify the blessingsof Jumuah. Places of distribution include Vellakulam village,Salamath Nagar village, Majeed Nagar village, Sungabkulivillage, Kutinchakerny village - all in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.

On top of meals, we also distributed food aid packs to help the poor and needy put food on their table for at least a month. In Cambodia, food aid packs were distributed Khor2 village, Chrang Chamres 2 commune, Phnom Penh city to the elderly and orphaned families.

In Indonesia, food aid packs were distributed to rural villages in Aceh, such as Pulo Aceh, Tanjung Deah, Blang Krueng, Blang Baroe.In Sri Lanka, the aids were distributed in Kinniya and Muthur province. Each food aid set can feed a family of 5-7 and can last for about a month.

BACK TO SCHOOL

As part of their Care for Education campaign, GER Singa-pore distributed 45 Back to School kits to students fromlow-income households.

The kits include a backpack, stationeries, water bottles, and cash for school shoes.

The kits were distributed at the end of 2020, to ensure the students are well-equipped to start the new school year.

MOSQUES CONSTRUCTION

In this quarter, two mosques were completed in Cameroon andCambodia. At-Taqwa Mosque can accommodate a congregation of 250 people. Elis Hamdan Mosque benefits a congregation of100 people.

MOSQUES REFURBISHMENT

WAKAF WATER WELLS

2 mosques in Aceh went through a refurbishment through your support. Sumber Mukti Mosque located in Singkil sits on the border of Aceh and North Sumatra. Due to its remote location, residents of Singkil only have this one mosque for their religious activities and spiritual needs. The refurbishment in An-Nur Mosque in Baktiyaa, Aceh Utara benefitted 200 people who can come and perform congregational prayers.

One water well hand pump can benefit 1-3 families,providing them with clean drinking water for the next 10 years or more.

A total of 173 water wells were constructed during this quarter in 4 countries.

WAKAF COMMUNITY WATER WELLS

WAKAF ABLUTION PLACE

One community water well can supply clean water for a community of 10-15 families (or 50 people). Lasting up to a decade or more, this source of clean water can be utilised for various daily activities. A total of 45 community water wells were built in Cambodia, benefitting 1,800 people altogether.

A total of 23 ablution places were built in this quarter in Cambodia and Sri Lanka. Each ablution place is located near a mosque, so it can also be used for other purposes during community events on top of making ablution.

QUR’AN DISTRIBUTION

QUR’AN BRAILLE DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION

In October, wakaf Qur’an were distributed to hifz students in Al-Aman Arabic College in Sri Lanka. Also, Qur’an, and Iqra’ books were distributed to Syrian refugees which were held in mosques in Idlib City Centre, Kafr Takharim, Killi, and Atimah.

Beneficiaries of wakaf Qur’an in Bamako, Mali received their copies - an upgrade from the wooden plank they have been using to learn the Qur’an from. In November, Qur’an were distributed to students in Gambia, Serrekunda, Brikama, and Busumbala - Kanifing Municipal Council. They are thankful to have their own copies as they used to share their Qur’an with their peers.

Wakaf Qur’an Braille Digital aims to assist those who are isually impaired to read, learn, and memorise the Qur’an. Without the right tools and resources, they would not have the opportunity to learn the Qur’an.

There are more than 6,000 blind Muslims living in Indonesia alone, and nearly all of them are living in poverty. 9 units of Qur’an Braille Digital were received by students of SLB Negeri Seunagan in Aceh to be used in their Qur’anic lessons.

WINTER AID DISTRIBUTION IN YEMEN

WINTER AID DISTRIBUTION IN BANGLADESH

In early December, we distributed a total of 1,920 sets of winter essentials. The aid included 200 sets of food packs, consisting of flour, rice, sugar, dates, oil, tomato paste and beans. 1,000 people benefitted from this aid.

200 sets of Winter Kits were distributed to 200 people. 300 sets of Baby Milk and Children’s Meals were distributed to 300 babies.

Each of them consists of milk powder, food supplement, baby meal, eggs and oats. 200 packs of bread weredistributed to 1,000 people.

20 sets of non-food items such as tents, clothing, and kitchen tools, were also given out, benefitting 100 people.

Cooked meals were distributed to 1,000 people for theWinter Emergency Relief in Yemen.

Rohingya Refugees face new peril as temperatures begin to drop last month. With the support of our donors, various aid such as Food Packs, Blankets, Clean Water supply, Cooked Meals and Baby Cereal have been given out to the refugees. In total, 11,500 people benefitted from the Winter Emergency Relief in Rohingya camps.

WINTER AID DISTRIBUTION IN GAZA

As winter arrives, the people in Gaza are eagerly waiting for the aid. A total of 687 sets of winter essentials were given out to the most needy. This includes 187 food packs, which consist of sugar, chickpea, salt, tea, cheese, oil, butter, rice, canned food, lentils, tomato sauce, jam and macaroni.

150 Winter Kits, consisting of blankets, mattresses, caps and heaters were given out to 150 people.

150 sets of Mother and Baby Kits were given out to 150 mothers and their newly born babies. Each set consists of a bottle of shampoo,powder, diapers, sanitisers, milk bottle, towel, sanitary pads,nail cutter, baby pacifiers, vitamins and masks.

200 children each received a meal set consisting of oat biscuits,hummus, bread, cucumber, apple, milk and cheese. These aid were distributed in Gaza Strip, benefitting a total of 1,435 of the poorest in the district.

WINTER AID DISTRIBUTION IN TURKEY

WINTER AID DISTRIBUTION IN SYRIA

Turkey hosted one of the largest number of refugees in the world.Due to the kindness of our donors, a total of 1,200 items weredistributed to the Turkey refugees.

100 food aid packs were given out, which benefitted 500 people. 100 winter kits and 1,000 cooked meals were also distributed. Those who received the aid are amongst the poorest ofthe refugees.

Winter is causing deep concern for the Syrians. On top of poverty and the global pandemic, it is making more Syrian refugees to live in fear.

The winter aid rendered includes 200 food aid packs, whichbenefitted 1,000 people. 1,000 Baby Milk and 1,000 cooked meals were distributed to IDPs in Idlib in Khafa Takhareem IDP camp.

Also, 20 tonnes of bread were distributed to 600 families,benefitting 3,000 people. 200 winter kits were distributed in the Azaz camps in Aleppo.

As a whole, more than 5,200 people in Syria received at least one aid from the Winter Emergency Relief.

WINTER AID DISTRIBUTION IN IRAQ

Although many may imagine Iraq as a warm country, it gets very cold during the winter season. A total of 1,200 food andnon-food items were given out to the most needy people in Iraq in December 2020.

100 food aid packs were given to 100 families of 5,benefitting 500 people. 100 winter kits and 1,000 ready-to-eat rations were distributed in Bizebez camp near Baghdad.

In total, 1,600 people benefitted from the Winter EmergencyRelief in Iraq.

As winter hits, refugees are the most vulnerable. With the help of our partners on the ground, a total of 1,200 items were dis-tributed to the refugees in Lebanon. This consists of 100 Food Packs, benefitting 500 people, 100 Winter Kits to 100 individuals, and 1,000 cooked meals to 1,000 individuals.

FLOOD RELIEF IN CAMBODIA

FLOOD RELIEF IN ACEH, INDONESIA

As the monsoon season starts, the villagers in rural parts of Cambodia are facing property damage caused by the flood.In response to this emergency, GER Cambodia distributed the following aid in Pursat and Battambong. In total, 2,050individuals managed to get aid from the Flood Emergency Relief in Cambodia.

After days of continual rain, many parts of Southeast Asia are affected by floods, including Aceh, Indonesia. Floodwaters had not receded, and people’s houses were still submerged. GER-ID sprung into action and collaborated with Pekerja SosialMasyarakat (PSM) and Cet Langet Rumoh (CLR) to distribute basic necessities for public kitchens in the evacuation camps.

Apart from that, baby essentials such as diapers and biscuits were also distributed. A total of 13 food packs and baby needs were distributed.

KINDNESS DAY

Since October 2020, Global Ehsan Relief Singapore has given out a total of items such as Grocery Hampers, Vouchers,Wheelchairs, Baby Formula, Diapers and Monetary aid to support the most needy in Singapore.

Kindness Day aims to spread love and happiness to the public by giving while also creating awareness about Global EhsanRelief’s causes. In Singapore, 2,730 food items were distributed to 2,150 individuals of the public in areas of Joo Chiat on Fridays. In Malaysia, various food and beverages were distributed to public. In Indonesia, fruits and bread were also given out to the 1,110 individuals of the public.
