FÁTIMA CHILDREN´S HOME

FOURTH QUARTEROCTOBER - NOVEMBER - DECEMBER

The final three months of the year have been extra special. The little ones are celebrating the holidays and they are very excited and looking forward to the gifts they will receive.

We have welcomed many new children over the past three months and

are grateful for the opportunity to make them part of our family and help them improve both their physical and mental health.

We invite all who are able to visit our home and share with us during this special time of year. The smiles of the children will fill your hearts with joy.

FÁTIMA CHILDREN´S HOME

October is a special month for the children because October 1st is Children’s Day in Guatemala. The children were met with visitors throughout the month and received special gifts. Our visitors included friends from the Antigua channel who did a story live from Fátima’s and also gave our children small toys.

OCTOBER

This Children’s Day they ate happy meals and lots of cake!

They played musical chairs and bingo.

Overall, they had a wonderful day. :)

Our friends from Junkabal salon came to give the children hair cuts because the kids were ready for a trim.

All of the children looked extra handsome after the haircuts.

BINGO!

We organized a Bingo night so that friends of Fátimas could have fun and help us raise donations at the same time. The prizes were given by generous donors who helped us ensure that the night was a success.

The event took place on November 24 in the Chili’s in Zone 10.

We hope that in the future you might be willing to help us organize events to raise funds for the children and join in the fun as well.

OUTING TOCLUB KAYAK

Our children were invited to spend the day at Club Kayak (a small fair) where they enjoyed playing games and winning prizes.

All of the attendants at Club Kayak were very accommodating and friendly. They allowed our children to go first in line at the games and let them choose any toy they wanted when they won.

The kids enjoyed playing:

- Bowling- Throw the ball in the reindeer- Pin the nose on the reindeer- Bingo

Alejandra was happy because she won some bracelets, earrings, a bottle of perfume, colored pencils, and candy. What she enjoyed the most was that she made new friends with some of the other kids who were at Club Kayak.

The children had a delicious snack of popcorn, bread, and sweets.

THE RACE

For the past few months Lester, Alejandra, Josué, Carmen, and Soani have been training by running near Fátimas because they were very excited about an upcoming race to raise funds for Fátimas.

The race was organized by the Office of the Mayor’s Assistant in Zone 14.

We took them on Sunday to the race and they each received a t-shirt and their racing numbers. They all completed the 1.5 kilometer race and Lester won second place out of forty children and Carmen won third place. We are so proud of them!

Here you can see the medal and trophy that Lester won.

After lunch they had a chance to play in a bouncy castle and when it was time to leave the castle, they had trouble bouncing their way out because they were laughing so hard.

Then face painters arrived and after that we all returned to Fátima’s, tired but happy.

4 pounds of sweetness

María José arrived with us when she was only 15 days old and she was only 35 cms in length - she was a very tiny baby.

Since her arrival her appetite has improved greatly and she is growing.

She is now a healthy chunky baby and whenever anyone speaks to her she looks around and tries to find the source of the sound.

She likes to eat and enjoys her Enfamil Confort. She is growing stronger and now she can sit up by herself and is even trying to stand.

Ms. Curly hairThis curly haired beauty was afraid of people when she came to our home. Before she arrived at Fátimas she spent much of her time in hospitals and now she is afraid of people who use glasses or who wear white coats, but each day her fear lessens a little bit more.

She loves her musical piano she keeps in her crib.

She also repeats several words. She can say:

- mama- papa- baby- girl- cookie- thank you! and- Fant (for elephant)

Lupita, Gabriel, and Steven 6, 5 and 8 years old respectively, were all friends who arrived at Fátima’s as a group.

They came to Fátima’s in October, but they have already been released.

Steven and Lupita asked to do chores because they said it was normal for them to do chores every day, but we helped them learn to play while the nannies did the housework.

We care for them very much and wish them all the best in their future.
