Non-Profits Workshop: Capacity Building for Bajaj Group’s CSR Grants

Inaugural Session

The non-profits workshop will delve into the opportunities that NGOs have in their realm since the introduction of Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013. The workshop will explore how NGOs can leverage the CSR funds in general and the Bajaj CSR Grant in particular to implement their projects. By focusing on aspects such as proposal writing, fundraising, generating attention among the corpo-rate sector, the session will provide important lessons to NGOs to create maximum good through their social development initiatives.

Dr. Krishna Kant Pathak, IASCommissioner of Industries and Secretary-CSR, Government of Rajasthan

Dr. Pathak is an IAS officer who holds the office of Commissioner of Indus-tries Department in the Government of Rajasthan. He also holds charge of Secretary to Government, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Rajas-than. The Government of Rajasthan has created a CSR Portal that works as a bridge between corporate and implementing agencies. He has previ-ously been Secretary (Redressal of Public Grievances) to the Chief Minis-ter of Rajasthan.

Sh. Parsadi Lal Meena,Honourable Minister of Industries, Government of Rajasthan

Shri Parsadi Lal Meena is the Minister of Industries for the Government of Rajasthan. He is guided by Gandhian philosophy in his political outlook. He has been an MLA for five times and is representing the constituency of Lalsot for the sixth time after 2018 elections. In 2010, he was in the Cabi-net as the Food Minister in Rajasthan. The Chief Minister Food Security Bill in Rajasthan was passed during his tenure, which was later adopted by the Central Government.

Dr. Rajan has published over 100 scientific publications in national and international journals. In the last 15 years in addition to his clinical work, he has been leading nutrition programs in India and many south Asian countries. He has worked with the Micronutrient Initiative as their Regional Techni-cal Advisor and with UNICEF as a Project Officer in the India Country Office at Delhi. He had been the regional representative in South Asia for the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) for 10 years and established GAIN’s presence and programs in South Asia.

Dr. Rajan is the Director of TINI (The India Nutrition Initiate), a SPV formed by Tata Trusts to focus on nutrition initiatives in India. He is also the Pro-gram Director for Nutrition at Tata Trusts. He is a medical graduate from the University of Madras. He has been actively involved with programme evaluation and micronutrient deficiency elimination programs in India.

Dr. Subodh Agarwal, IAS,Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Government of Rajasthan

Dr. Subodh is an IAS officer who holds the office of the Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, State Enterprises and NRIs and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor to the Government of Rajasthan. He has previously served as the Additional Chief Secretary of Higher and Technical Educa-tion Department, Government of Rajasthan. He has qualifications in P.G.D.M. Ravi has significant experience in project implementation, liaising with the government, policy advo-cacy and campaigning. Ravi is a child rights specialist with extensive experience for more than 15 years in the sector. His work focuses on children’s rights to protection and education, with significant impact on national policy issues. Having carried out the scoping study for the design of the Child Labour Free Initiative, currently, his work with the Initiative is to support government departments in joint strategies for eliminating child labour, especially in handicraft industries in Jaipur, and to coordinate organizations working for rejection of child exploitation within the most highly affected neighbourhoods of the city.

With more than 20 years of varied experience, Dr. Venkateswaran served in departments like home, local self government department, rural development, social welfare etc. under Government of Rajasthan. He was also the Mission Director for JnNURM in the state. He was awarded the JRD Tata National Health award for distinguished service in Churu district. Under his leadership the district of Jalore got the Satyen Maitra National Award for Total Literacy.

Manmohan has 18 years of experience in working with Public System Transformation in Public Health and Education. He enjoys developing partnerships through collaborative effort to deliver qual-ity at scale and has been part of multiple government committees at State and Central Government of India. Vikas also shaped up the formal CSR division at Chambal Fertilizers and is credited to diversify social work into the field of socio economic development through education, rural infrastructure, women empowerment, skill development, etc. He is a firm believer that right to education for all is instrumental in bringing a significant change in the education system of the 26 adjacent villages. His idea of developing these institutions as a hub for education in the rural Kota is shaping the career of more than 6500 children.

In, Urja Ronak successfully implemented a carbon finance project involving 19,000 rural households who were provided with improved cookstoves to bring down carbon emissions and also to reduce the consumption of fuelwood by almost 50%. Under Ronak’s leadership Urja diversified its activities and became a leading agency in the area of procurement and marketing of agricultural commodities.

Mr. Vikas Bhatia, Head-CSR, Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. Vikas is Head – Corporate Social Responsibility at Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. He is a highly passionate person and a marketing professional, Vikas was given responsibility of social development of the community when the word CSR was not even coined. He worked extensively over these years to raise the living standard of these communities by linking them to livelihood and empowerment activities.

Ms. Sonia Shrivastava, Senior Director-Corporate Citizenship, Samsung India

Sonia is the Senior Director of Corporate Citizenship at Samsung. Over a career spanning a couple of decades, Sonia has had a unique and rich cross-sectoral and entrepreneurial experience across both Indian and multinational companies as well as NGOs. Prior to joining Samsung, she headed the Vodafone Founda-tion, and also led the CSR function at Intel, Moser Baer and ABB apart from working with leading NGOs in the development sector. She has Bachelors in Science and an MBA in International Business.

Mr. Ronak Shah, CEO, Seva Mandir

Ronak is currently the CEO of Seva Mandir, a grassroots NGO based in Udai-pur, Rajasthan. He is an alumnus of the University of Manchester in the UK, where he gained a Master’s in International Development in 2006. He joined Seva Mandir in 2007 in the Natural Resource Development Programme where he led the programmes related to climate change, drinking water and sanitation. After a spell heading the People’s Management School unit of Seva Mandir, in 2015 Ronak became Chief Executive of Udaipur Urja Initiatives, a producer company which had its roots in Seva Mandir but is a separate entity aiming to enhance the access of rural communities to clean energy technologies and to trading mechanisms for local agro-produce. The thrust of the enterprise is improving the lives and livelihood sustainability of its members.

Dr. Garima Dadhich, Head-National Foundation for CSR, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of IndiaDr. Garima heads the National Foundation for CSR under the Ministry of Corpo-rate Affairs, Government of India. She is an experienced Assistant Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the research industry. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President for ACCESS Development Services. He has led projects across India funded by international donors and apex Indian organi-sations including European Union, World Bank, BMGF, DFID, WFP, UNDP, NABARD and SIDBI among others.

He has been instrumental in developing an integrated model for development at ‘ICICI Digital Villag-es’, exploring new markets as well as fostering key Partnerships for market development for the beneficiaries at these villages. He has been instrumental in various industry firsts and award win-ning initiatives like ‘Smart Vault’.

In the year 2004, he established a trust, namely Ramkrishna Jaidayal Dalmia Seva Sansthan (RJDSS) at Chirawa in Jhunjhunu District of Rajasthan which is currently working with 80000 people across 55 villages with a vision to bring “KHUSHHALI” with Equity, Harmony and Prosperity in the region.

Sh. Raghu Hari Dalmia, Entrepreneur & Social Worker Sh. R.H. Dalmia, an Indian businessman, from a prominent business family has led a number of companies with diversified interests, including cement, industri-al ceramics, and mechanical engineering. He has led the Group in various sec-tors and international operations and has held leadership positions in various Indian business associations and created international strategic alliances in areas of business.

Sh. Naveen Mahajan, IAS, Secretary-Water Resources Department, Government of Rajasthan Sh. Naveen is an IAS Officer who currently holds the office of Secretary in the Water Resources Department of Government of Rajasthan. Previously, he has worked as Secretary to the Government Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (M.S.M.E) for the Rajasthan Government.

Prior to joining HZL, she was the Director, CSR and Sustainability for Coca Cola in India and South West Asia. She has extensive experience in the social sector, having held leadership positions like – India Country Director of the American India Foundation and Chief Executive of Seva Mandir. She was the Acting Director of Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) and has also served on many Central and State Government Committees, including the Land Reforms Committee of the Government of India and the Task Force to suggest Decentralized Funding Mechanisms to the Plan-ning Commission.

Ms. Neelima Khetan, Head- CSR, Vedanta Group Neelima is the CSR Head for Vedanta Group, a global diversified resources company. She is also Vice President, CSR at Hindustan Zinc (which is part of Vedanta) and holds a Master’s degree in Rural Management from IRMA and a Bachelor’s in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University.

Mr. Maulik Sisodia,Executive Director, Tarun Bharat Sangh Maulik is an Executive Director of Tarun Bharat Sangh. He belongs to a new generation of management graduates who are devoting their life to the develop-ment sector. His interests are in policy level issues related to rivers and water resources. His expertise is in implementing projects at a grass roots level with the end beneficiary being the most underprivileged. Vision:- Ensure the access of small artisanal community to a robust platform & viable marketplace helping them to get fair & just returns and to multiply their business portfolios as well as overall contribution in economic growth of the Jodhpur handicrafts industry in future course of time.

Mission:- -Form and foster grassroots institutional mechanisms to organize and federate small artisans, entrepreneurs and exporters. -Evolve institutional mechanism to build and strengthen regularly the diverse marketable skills of the artisanal community. -Establish a coordinative system to assist the artisanal community in easy and affordable provision of all minimum required entrepreneurial inputs including advanced technological, infrastructural, raw-materials and finances. -Introduce initiatives to create, innovate and modernize the handicrafts productions of the cluster further to construct a brand image of the cluster targeted-artisanal produces in both domestic and global markets.

Objectives:- 1. To help small-artisans/ entrepreneurs to be organized further to join their hands together

and to pileup their limited resources & buildup their business institutional capacity in order to be capable to compete and demand for their fair & just wages/returns.

2. Establishing common platforms for providing support to the small-artisans/entrepreneurs with multifaceted machinery/tools, raw-materials, design patterns and other inputs required in crafts making.

3. To help small-artisans/entrepreneurs be empowered by acquiring marketable craft-skills in order to keep their livelihoods sustained & ameliorate socio-economic conditions further to contribute in overall economic-health of the Jodhpur wooden handicrafts cluster.

4. To help small-artisans/entrepreneurism exploring & accessing the domestic and global crafts’ markets.

5. Empower and strengthen small-artisans/entrepreneurs to be organized in a federation further to take up and continue the cluster development activities on their own for their amelioration.
