The Kimberly Area School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, sex, (including transgender status, change of sex or gender identity), or physical, mental, emotion-al, or learning disability ("Protected Classes") in any of its student pro-grams and activities.
I would like to begin by saying that I am so impressed with all of our 4K Center families. This is the smoothest start to the school year that I have experienced and I believe that I owe a great deal of thanks to all of you. You see, one of the premises that our teachers work from at our school, is that our students are READY to be here. By allowing them the space and security to succeed, we allow them to develop confidence in themselves as learners and people. When I watch parents dropping-off or picking up children, I am struck by a significant sense of trust that you share with the staff AND with your children. Thank you for that. As we continue to work with our traditions, Mrs. Laundrie met with the 4K CfL Parent Committee this week. The purpose of the initial meeting was to introduce ourselves to everyone, but more importantly, to lay out our community building plans for the year. Up first will be our Fall Family Night. This will be held between 5:30 and 7:00 PM on October 19th. More information will be coming, but please know that this will be an opportunity for you to visit the 4K Center, do a fun family project and have your 4K student give you a tour of the school and his/her classroom. A few additional dates you should know in advance:
Picture Retake Day will be held on October 2nd Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on November 20th and 30th Our Polar Express holiday celebration will take place on December 21st Our 4K Center Literacy Nights/Book Fair will be held on March 20th and 22nd It is our hope and intention that we develop a lasting relationship with all of our students and families. By that I mean that I want all parents to know that you play an extremely important role in the growth and development of your student throughout their K-12 experience, and by working together, everyone will be best served. If at any time you have questions or concerns about the work happening at the 4K Center for Literacy, please feel free to give me a call at 423-4190, or simply send me an email to [email protected]. Sincerely, Sean
Sunrise PTO has extra tickets available for the Milwaukee Brewers vs Chicago Cubs game on Friday, September 22nd beginning at 6:35 PM. Tickets are $36. If you are interested, call Staci Wanberg at 920-840-5389.
Picture Retake / Make-up Day
Picture re-take /make-up day is scheduled for Monday, October 2nd. Those students who
were unable to have their pictures taken on Picture and Paperwork Day or those wanting a
retake, will have their picture taken on this Monday. You can obtain an order form on our
website under Forms and Documents / Back to School Information.
Important Snack Guidelines
Your help is needed when sending treats to school. Please choose treats that do not con-
tain peanuts or peanut butter. Peanut and peanut butter allergies are on the rise and we
have students who are very allergic to these and other nuts.
No Student Directory
4K Center StudentHandbook
The 4K Center is still collecting Milk Moola products from Kwik Trip. You can send your tops
in a sealed ziplock bag and we will place in the Milk Moola collection box. Thanks for all
your help in earning money for our school.
Please be aware that the 4K Center will not be compiling a student directory this year. This
decision comes as a result of a policy that determines a need to retain privacy for students.
Brewer Tickets Still Available
Milk Moola
The 4K Center student handbook is available to all parents on the website. Please visit
www.kimberly.k12.wi.us. The handbook can be found on the 4K page under Forms and
Documents / Handbook.
Just a reminder: effective March 1, 2009, volunteers are required to complete a back-ground check. Volunteers include fieldtrip chaperones and those that assist students in a one-on-one capacity. If you will be volunteering on a field trip or in a one-on-one capacity, we ask you to complete a background check form. Forms can be obtained in the office or online.
Social Media Concerns
We need to make sure that everyone is aware of the concerns of posting photos on so-
cial media sites. Our Classroom Shutterfly/Bloomz Sites are secure for our classroom;
however, you do have the capability of sharing these photos. We need to make sure in
order to protect student confidentiality and rights that you do not post any photos with any other
children in it other than your own on any kind of social media site (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). We
appreciate your cooperation and respect for the privacy of others.
Medications At School
Parking Reminders
More information to come in October about this fun event
for our 4K families!
If it is necessary for your child to take medication at school please fill out the Authoriza-
tion to Dispense Medication form found online or in the school office. If your child will be
taking prescription medication the form will need to be signed by your physician. Please
make sure all medication is in it’s original packaging with your student's name. Thank you!
Background Checks
Due to the fact that our parking lot near the main entrance of the 4K Center is very limited
in size, and we share many of these spots with Holy Spirit Church staff, it is important that
we do not overcrowd the lot during drop-off or pick-up times. There is limited room for parents to park,
so we ask that all parents who are driving to the 4K Center for pick-up and/or drop-off use the parking lot
on Pine Street, allowing you to walk, behind the Church, to the school. Thank you for your cooperation.
