During the 2020 SD 4-H Legislative Ses-
sion, Teigen Hadrick , Faulk County 4-H
Representative, introduced a house resolu-
tion encouraging the State 4-H Office and
the SDSU Dairy Science Department to de-
velop an official ice cream of South Dakota
4-H. The polls have closed for the ice
cream flavor contest! We have determined
the winning flavor profile, drum roll...and
the winner is Clover Crunch, a mix of mint
ice cream and Oreos. This flavor nearly
doubled in votes when compared to other
flavor options. There will be tasting oppor-
tunities of Clover Crunch at Dakotafest and
the State 4-H Leaders Association ice
cream
Interested in Dairy Cattle Judging?
Join us for an in-person judging prac-tice/school and learn more about dairy cat-tle judging. We will have a practice Mon-day, May 24 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Norling Dairy at 29672 468th Ave., Beresford. Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can have materials ready.
The Dairy Cattle Com-mittee is offering a series of virtual Dairy Cattle Judging Con-tests this spring. We would like to offer youth chances to practice this spring and from their own home. The last con-test (#3)will be open from Friday, April 30 to Monday, May 17 for scoring. After the 17th, the contest will be left open for prac-tice only. Scores will be sent to the email address they provid-ed and/or the County Office they indicated.
