REVERB
Similar to the ECHO effect, here there arefive different types of effect and threecontrollers with which the character of theeffect is formed:
PRE-DELAYThe PREDELAY controller defines theamount of time which passes beforethe effect signal is heard.
TIMETIME defines how long the effectsignal takes to fade.
VOLUMEThe VOLUME controller defines howloud the effect signal is compared tothe original.
VOCODER & HARMONIZERThe VOCODER and HARMONIZER effectsmake it possible to make major changes tothe intonation of samples. Give a sample acompletely new melodic line with theVOCODER, or add new voices to a samplewith the HARMONIZER
The two effects are only active when thecorresponding ON button is activated.
To make these 2 effects visible click on thethird tab.
VOCODER
The Vocoder is a special effect in which theoriginal sample is altered by the so-calledCARRIER SIGNAL. The original modulates theCARRIER. The resulting mix can sound likethis: a vocal (original) which has the characterand melody of a synthesizer pad (CARRIER).
To do this load the original sample into theWAVE EDITOR and drag the sample youwant to use as CARRIER onto the samplewindow in the VOCODER.
VOCODER SHAPE
With SHAPE you define how much of theoriginal signal is to remain unchanged. Inthis way you can influence for example thedegree to which the original voice sample isdistorted. SHAPE improves the overallsound, especially in the higher frequencies.Generally the result is a more brilliant sound.
VOCODER RATIO
RATIO sets the balance of the two samples, influencing the amount with which eachsample works in the VOCODER.
HARMONIZER
The HARMONIZER generates new voicesabove or below the original sample. Thebuttons refer to semitone steps. 12Semitones is an OCTAVE, +7 is a FIFTHhigher than the original, +5 a FOURTHhigher and -5 a FOURTH lower than theoriginal. The results can be quite different, depending on the samples themselves. Sogive it a try and see what theHARMONIZER can do for your samples!
TIME & TUNEIn the TIME & TUNE module you cancorrect or modify the tempo and pitch ofthe sample. To make this scene visibleclick on the fourth tab.

INDIVIDUAL OR LINKED CONTROLLERS
Here you can define the functionality of thecontrollers. If ”linked controllers” isactivated, movements of one slider effectsthe position of the neighbouring sliders. Onthe contrary if ”individual controllers” isactivated the slider can be setindependently of each other.
POWERSWEEP, OVERDRIVE,CHORUS, REVERB & ECHOPOWERSWEEP is a time controlledresonance filter with which sweep effectscan be created. OVERDRIVE saturatesthe signal, leading to distortion effects.CHORUS produces a fuller and widersound. REVERB simulates a space, suchas a hall or a church or even a small box.ECHO repeats the original sound.
To make these 5 effects visible click on thesecond tab.
POWERSWEEP, CHORUS, REVERBand ECHO have their own presets thatcan be loaded from the selection menu. Aswith the EQ, there are also USER settingsto save your current settings. All effectsare only active when the correspondingON button is activated. REVERB and ECHOadd supplementary audio signals to asample.
POWERSWEEP
CUT-OFF FREQUENCYThe basis of the POWERSWEEP is alow pass filter: the audio signal abovethe CUT-OFF FREQUENCY is cut, meaning high tones are filtered out.The controller sets the point at whichthe filter starts to apply
RESONANCEThe RESONANCE is an amplificationof the audio signal exactly at the pointof the CUT-OFF FREQUENCY. Thisleads to an accentuation of theSWEEP effect. It can be adjustedusing the controller.
SWEEP DIRECTIONAs soon as you start sample playback, the filter starts to move, producing theSWEEP effect. The controller defines ifthe filter moves up or down, i.e. tohigher or lower frequencies, and towhich value the filter ”wanders”
TIMEThe speed of the filter movement. Inthe time defined here the filter”wanders” up or down to the value setby the DIRECTION controller.
FILTER CURVEThe points mark a filter progression curvethat clarifies how the filter is applied.
ECHO
Aside from the five different types ofeffects, the ECHO effects are defined bythree parameters:
TIMETIME defines the time that passes beforethe first reflection of the ECHO is audible. Here you can set a fast or slow ECHO.
FEEDBACKFeedback defines how a reflectancegets sent back into the ECHO effect,so causing a new reflectance.Acoustically this sounds like a repeatof the signal. Set the number ofreflectances with the FEEDBACKcontroller.
VOLUMEThe VOLUME controller defines howloud the effect signal is compared tothe original.
OVERDRIVE
The OVERDRIVE in DANCE EJAY 6 has onlyone controller. It sets the degree of thedistortion, i.e. defines the size of thedistortion effect.

MOPHONIX IIThe new MOPHONIX II allows you tocreate Synthesizer progressions
from the ground up. The MOPHONIX IIuses two virtual analogue synthesizerswith a so-called "saw tooth curve". Thesynthesizers are connected with variousMODES.
In contrast to the GROOVE, HYPER X &BASS GENERATORS, the MOPHONIX IIonly generates WAVE files and is notsynchronised with your mix. That’s whythere is no extra track for this scene.
Although there is a matrix, this time itfunctions differently.
The functions are described in detail in thefollowing sections.
SOUND CREATION IN THEOSCILLATORThe PITCH settings define the basic pitchfor each synthesizer. You can choose fromvalues encompassing a range of up to 12octaves.
PHASESHIFT defines the displacement ofthe "saw tooth curve". The minimum andmaximum controller positions cover therange from 0° to 360°, imposing thecurves exactly on top of each other. Analteration in the phase is not necessarilynoticeable on all MODE settings.
INTENSITY, together with DURATION,defines the attack characteristics and thedynamics of the progression from thebeginning to the end.
With the help of the various MODE settingsyou can define the relationship betweenthe two saw tooth curves:
MODE 1 sounds closest to a classicalanalogue synthesizer.
MODE 2 sounds more metallic.
MODE 3 is a mixture of MODE 1 and MODE 2.
MODE 4 sounds distorted and moretechnoid in character.

First of all you have to set the length of thesample in the PRESET menu. The matrix willbe played once for each bar you have set.
As soon as you click on the RECORDbutton playback starts. All changes thatyou make during the recording arerecorded just like with a cassette recorder. You can check the position of yourrecording with the progress bar.
When the set number of bars has beenpassed through the recording ends. In thedialogue box that then opens you canname and save the resulting sample or editin the FX STUDIO, which opensautomatically. The sample appears in thesound group MY SOUNDS from where itcan be added to a mix (drag & drop).
SAVE / LOAD SETTINGS
To do so click on the pull down button nextto the text field in the UPPER MAINFRAME. You can then choose between thefollowing options:
SAVE SETTINGS opens a dialogue box, which enables you to save the currentcontroller settings of the synthesizer andeffects together with the mix in the currentstate in one file.
LOAD SETTINGS opens a dialogue boxwhere an existing file can be selected. Youcan choose to load synthesizer and effectsettings and / or the matrix settings.
MOPHONIX SUPABASSThe new MOPHONIX SUPA BASSallows you to create synthesizer
bass progressions from the ground up.The SUPA BASS uses FM-synthesis tocreate bass sounds. It contains twooscillators. One of them is theMODULATOR, the other the CARRIER.
In contrast tot the GROOVE and HYPER XGENERATORS, the MOPHONIX SUPABASS only generates WAVE files and is notsynchronised with your mix. That’s whythere is no extra track for this scene.Although there is a matrix, this time itfunctions differently.
SOUND CREATION IN THEOSCILLATORThe PITCH settings define the basic pitchof the lowest note in the matrix (A) foreach synthesizer. You can choose fromvalues encompassing a range of up to 4octaves.
The PITCH of the CARRIER defines thekeynote of the sound, while the PITCH ofthe MODULATOR influences the overtone
BALANCE is used to define the amount ofthe right and left saw tooth curves in theresulting signal.
Caution: depending on the chosen MODE,some controller positions may result in aninaudible signal because the two curvescancel out each other.
These settings may sound a littlecomplicated so we recommend youexperiment with the controllers or loadsome of the predefined settings tofamiliarise yourself with the module. Youwill soon see how you can generatefascinating synth sounds with theMOPHONIX II.
EQUALIZER AND EFFECTSEQUALIZER
The EQUALIZER contains 10 differentfrequency bands. By sliding the controllersup and down you can define the volume ofthe various frequencies ranges.
If the controllers are linked, then themovements of one slider effects theposition of the neighbouring sliders.
A click on ”C” (Clear) sets all controllersback to neutral.
EFFECTS
LOW PASSThe audio signal above the CUT-OFFFREQUENCY is cut, meaning hightones are filtered out. The slider setsthe point at which the filter starts toapply. The further the slider is set tothe right, the higher the cut-offfrequency.
The DURATION slider lets you selecthow long the low pass should last.
D-TUNEThe D-TUNE controller changes thestereo effect of the sound. The left andright channels of the sound are setagainst each other, resulting in anincrease in the beat of the sound.
FLANGERThe FLANGER widens the length of thesound and gives it a softer touch.
MATRIXHere you have a keyboard with a range oftwo octaves with which you can listen tothe pitch of your sound. In the 16th matrixyou can create progressions of up to 4bars in length. By clicking on the TABS 1-4below the matrix you can jump to thedifferent bars.
The matrix is polyphonic, meaning youhave multiple tones in each column (16th).
When you click play the matrix loops fromthe beginning. You can copy and pastebars, or clear bars by clicking on theCLEAR (C) button.
Under the matrix you will find a TRIGGERand separate controller for each note withwhich you can change the note length.
PLAY starts looping of the matrix. You canedit the matrix during looping until youreach a result with which you are satisfied.

ARPEGGIATORWith the ARPEGGIATOR you can createpatterns in the matrix based on the notesof certain predefined chords. Sixparameters enable you to define the notesin the matrix. In addition you can edit theresulting patterns in the matrix to add yourown touch to your progression.
ON BUTTON
The ARPEGGIATOR must be turned onseparately for each bar in the matrix. Thisis how it works: first create the desiredpattern in bar 1. Then you can save it if youwant. In the same way you can createpatterns for the other bars, saving them asyou go.
The matrix will be cleared each time youpress the ON button; beforehand you willbe given the option to save your settings. As soon as you start to add notes of yourown to the matrix, the arpeggiator will beturned off. This is necessary to avoidconflicts between the automaticallydefined notes and those you add yourself.

components of the sound.
The PITCH settings for both oscillatorswork with octave steps. Please note: ifboth oscillators are set to the lowest pitchvalue, barely audible bass sounds withvery low frequency may be created. Thisdepends in part on the other settings.
The grid control allows you to specify theperiod duration for the oscillators, wherebythe X-coordinate defines the MODULATORperiod length and the Y-coordinate definesthe CARRIER period length.
The slider AMOUNT defines the degree towhich the CARRIER signal is influenced bythe MODULATOR.
The 4 MODE settings represent differentmathematical operations combining thesignal of the two oscillators.
The SOFT and HARD buttons switch theoverall sound characteristics.
These settings may sound a littlecomplicated so we recommend youexperiment with the controllers or loadsome of the predefined settings tofamiliarise yourself with the module. You willsoon see how you can generate fascinatingsounds with the MOPHONIX SUPA BASS.
EFFECTSThe LFO FILTER is an effect that usesfeedback to give the bass sound a moreunadjusted, floating character.
MATRIXHere you have a keyboard with a range oftwo octaves with which you can listen tothe pitch of your sound. You can createtones for one bar in the 16th matrix. Thematrix is monophonic, meaning you canonly have one tone per column (16th).
Under the matrix you will find a separatecontroller for each note with which you canchange the length of the individual notes.
RANDOM / PERMUTATEThe RANDOM button generates a randomtone sequence. The PERMUTATE buttoncan be used to randomly change (mutate)the progression in the matrix.
PLAY CONTROLSPLAY starts looping of the matrix. You canedit the matrix during looping until youreach a result with which you are satisfied.Press STOP to stop looping the matrix.
RECORDING A SAMPLEFirst of all you have to set the length of thesample in the PRESET menu. The matrixwill be played once for each bar you haveset.
As soon as you click on the RECORDbutton PLAY starts. All changes that youmake during the recording are recordedjust like with a cassette recorder. You cancheck the position of your recording withthe progress bar above the PRESET menu.
When the set number of bars has beenpassed through the recording ends. In thedialogue box that then opens you canname and save the resulting sample. Thesample appears in the sound group MYSOUNDS from where it can be added to amix (drag & drop) or opened in the FXStudio for further modification.
SAVE / LOAD SETTINGSTo do so click on the PULL DOWN buttonnext to the text field in the UPPER MAINFRAME.
Youcan choose to load synthesizer and effectsettings and / or the sequence settings.
