Del Padre Michael Shanahan, nuestro párroco Encontramos católicos en posiciones de liderazgo donde sea que miremos. He estado invitando a parroquianos a participar

en un taller titulado “Aprendiendo como Guiar como Jesús”, basado en el libro “La Visión Católica de Guiar como Jesús”. Si ustedes están interesados pero no pueden asistir, siempre pueden comprar el libro. El taller guía los participantes a hacerse buenos a un discontento construc-tivo en vez de destructivo. Enseña como llevar a cabo los resultados de cooperación y colaboración en el trabajo, el hogar, la iglesia, la comunidad y la sociedad en general.

Líderes genuínos se centran en la defensa y respeto de la digni-dad de cada persona y cada grupo. Nuestra cultura desesperada-mente necesita de un verdadero, genuino liderazgo. Aquí en Lourdes alentamos la iniciativa y creatividad de muchos individuos y grupos y al mismo tiempo fomentamos un sentido de misión y liderazgo cristiano. Podría parecer que va-mos en diferentes direcciones, pero compartimos una compres-sion común de liderazgo. Emulamos nuestro liderazgo en Jesús. Esta es una fórmula de éxito y crecimiento. Por favor per-mítanme cambiar el foco a varios proyectos que claman por liderazgo en la parroquia. La chimenea y el techo sobre la Capilla de Adoración de-bería ser completada para el tiempo que uds. lean este artículo. Hemos recibido donaciones de parroquianos y de amigos de la parroquia que nos ayudaron a hacer el trabajo rápido y efi-cientemente. Gracias por su bondad y generosidad. Agradezco también a la Asociación de Adoración Eucarística Juan Pablo II por donar $5,000 para esta reparación. Aparte de esto hemos tenido equipos de parroquianos que vinieron a dar una profunda limpieza de piso a techo. Este enorme trabajo de volver a llevar la Gruta es uno de los ejemplos del poderoso efecto de liderazgo puesto junto para una causa común. Gracias a todos por la restauración de nuestra Perla de Gran Precio, la Capilla de Adoración. Repito el anuncio de la semana pasada que estamos for-mando una lista de prioridades para la campaña que se aproxima para recaudar fondos para la parroquia y la Ar-quidiócesis de Chicago. Esto es requerido para todas las parro-quianos. Muy pronto les daremos una encuesta para que voten por sus sugerencias en los trabajos más importantes. Esto se hará como en dos semanas. Hoy, domingo 10 de Abril los in-vito a unirse a otros que caminarán en la parroquia para ver personalmente posibles reparaciones. Por favor reúnanse junto al crucifijo de la entrada de la iglesia luego de la misa de 11:30 am. Confío en que los líderes de la parroquia tengan una fuerte aprobación de la campaña. Finalmente, pronto instalaremos un nuevo confesionario en el nicho del transepto este de la iglesia. Esto es posible gracias a la donación anónima de un parroquiano. Que Dios lo bendiga. Las estatuas serán TEMPORALMENTE guardadas hasta que las pongamos en otro lugar de la iglesia. Por supuesto que siempre hay más proyectos y activi-dades que las que podemos hacer. Pero por ahora estoy muy agradecido por los parroquianos y amigos de la parroquia de Lourdes. “Que la Paz sea con ustedes.”

We find Catholics in positions of leadership every-where we look. I have been inviting parishioners to partici-pate in a workshop entitled “Learn how to Lead Like Jesus.” The workshop is based on a book entitled The Catholic Vision for Leading Like Jesus. If you are inter-ested, but cannot attend, you can always purchase the book for yourself. The workshop leads participants to become good at constructive discontent, rather than de-structive discontent. It teaches us how to bring about collaborative, cooperative outcomes at work, home, church, community, and society in general. Real leaders fo-cus on upholding the dignity and respect of each person and group. Our culture is in desperate need of true, genuine lead-ership.

Here at Our Lady of Lourdes, we encourage the initiatives and creativity of many individuals and groups while fostering a common sense of mission and Christian leadership. We may seem to be heading in many different directions, but we share a common understanding of leader-ship. We pattern our leadership from that of Jesus. This is a formula for success and growth. Please allow me to shift focus here to several projects that are all calling for leader-ship in the parish. The chimney and roof above the Adoration Chapel should be complete by the time you read this article. We received do-nations from parishioners and friends of the parish allowing us to take care of the work quickly and efficiently. Thank you for your goodness and generosity. I also thank the John Paul II Eu-charistic Adoration Association for donating $5,000 for this repair. Beyond this, we had teams of parishioners come together to provide a deep cleaning from the floor to the ceiling. This enormous effort to bring back the Adoration Chapel is but one example of the powerful effect of leaders coming together for a common cause. Thank you to all for restoring our Pearl of Great Price, the Adoration Chapel. I repeat the announcement from last week that we are form-ing a list of the highest priorities for an upcoming campaign to raise funds for the parish and the Archdiocese of Chicago. This is a required campaign for all parishes. We will soon provide a survey for you to vote on your suggestions for most important projects to work on. I expect this survey will take place in the next couple weeks. Today, Sunday April 10, we invite you to join others to walk through the parish to personally view some possible repairs. Please meet at the Crucifix near the main en-trance of church after the 11:30 am Mass. I trust the leaders of Lourdes to come to a strong consensus for our campaign. Finally, we will soon install a completely new confessional in the niche in the east transept of church. This new confes-sional is possible from an anonymous donation from a parish-ioner. God bless you. The statues that are currently there will be TEMPORARILY placed in storage until we can afford to in-stall them in another location in church.

Of course, there are always more projects and activi-ties than we can keep up with. But I for one am most grateful for the parishioners and friends of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. “Peace be with you.”

As Spring approaches, we need to get to work cleaning and fixing up our beautiful Church and grounds -- AND we need lots of help! Some of the tasks include: 1. Cleaning the Interior of Church - win-dows, doors, pews, etc. 2. Removing winter debris from the East & West Lawns, plus the Patio. 3. Power wash Sidewalks, removing gum 4. Clean the Grotto We're planning on starting on Saturday, Apr. 23rd at 11 a.m.* We need men, women, and teenagers 15 years and older.
