COMMONFOLK FOLK CLUB ®, Pelsall Cricket Club, Walsall Road (B4154), Pelsall, Walsall WS3 4BP.

Every Thursday, 8.15pm (guest nights 8.30pm), all year NORMALLY ... Live folk music in Pelsall, Walsall, every

Thursday night. Singers nights and monthly guest nights. Performers welcome on singers' nights. We ask for a donation of £1 per person on non-guest nights to cover costs, a full P.A is available. Performers of any genre of music are welcome and

are usually invited to do 2 numbers. Please note: we cannot guarantee performers a spot if they are not present before the start of the evening. A raffle is held with various prizes - wine, chocolates, and of course the "tacky bag". This helps to support the club and guest nights. The club has disabled access and facilities. Our Guest Booking Policy: we only book artists who we’ve heard at a live performance, or who have been heard and recommended by one of our regulars. As we are primarily a singers’ club, we only have a guest night once a month. Update: Common Folk Club is still closed until further notice. In the interim, we are continuing to run a zoom Common Folk for our regular Singers Night audience, along with invited guests. Steve & Margaret, 07910 632695, 07954 994745

Hello All [wrote Paul in our January issue]And still we continue to be restricted in what activities we can participate in safely - needless to say all our local session venues are keen to resume operations as soon as we get a 'green light' ! Our Sunday Sessions resumed to a lesser extend for a brief period when we were able to gather outside with a maximum of 30 participants - and they were fun. On the Morris front - a few 'virtual' sessions were being organised however most wish to wait for the moment that the Morris may be performed as intended - to entertain in the street again....hopefully !In the meantime - stay safe- be patient - then have a blast. Best regards Paul

THE TRADITIONAL ILMINGTON MORRIS MEN ® The Traditional Ilmington Morris Men are based in the South Warwickshire village of Ilmington, and dance the traditional dances which have evolved in the village over 300 years. The side joined the Morris Ring in 2002; we are also an EFDSS associated club member. We practice on Wednesday winter evenings in Ilmington Village Hall, and dance around the local villages and towns on Wednesday summer evenings. Occasionally we attend festivals and accept bookings. Our headquarters is The Red Lion Inn (01608 682089), a Hook Norton Brewery house, selling a variety of the brewery’s fine ales and marvellous food. Dee and Andy provide a warm welcome to all. The Ilmington Morris is a living tradition and always welcomes any Morris man, experienced or beginner, who would like to join us. If interested, feel free to come along to the Ilmington Village Hall (CV36 4LD) on a Wednesday evening, September to April); we practice between 8.00-10.00pm (and then adjourn to either The Red Lion or The Howard Arms). Or speak to any one of us when you see us dancing out on Wednesday evenings around the local villages and towns from May – August. Alternatively contact the Bagman by e-mail or telephone (shown below). For further information please contact the Bagman, Paul Bryan, email [email protected], Mobile: 07711 121210,

✪ MEDIA ✪ @nker radioANKER FOLK (Anker Radio Show) ® Despite being exiled from our hospital-based studios by the Pandemic in March, using Home recording and editing, we have continued to broadcast our twice monthly shows throughout the year. Online, on Hospicoms and on 1386 AM in the town itself, our shows continue to fly the flag for Folk music. 78 of the 480 artistes aired on Anker Folk are local and 77 of them have also appeared on stage at NFC. We passed our fourth birthday in October. A new innovation in 2020 has been the occasional “Anker Blues” programme. Much of the already broadcast material is available via a “Listen Again” facility accessed via the Radio Station’s website ® Geoff Veasey, [email protected], www.ankerradio.co.uk

NUNEATON FOLK CLUB ®, Queens Hall at the Crew (upstairs), 75-77 Queen’s Road, Nuneaton CV11 5LA. Normally ... 1st Wed, 8pm on guest nights, all yearComing up on First Wednesdays, Upstairs at The Crew NFC held its last public session in March 2020, when our featured guests were the most excellent Bird In The Belly. After that, Coronavirus halted all further sessions. Throughout the rest of the year we kept in touch with all our booked guests and with the host venue, The Queen’s Hall. The outcome was that the Management of The Crew/Queen’s Hall gave us constant reassurances that our partnership with them remains safe.. They kept us informed also of venue improvements and new innovations via regular updates. All but one of the artistes cancelled in 2020 agreed to roll forward their booked slot to the equivalent first Wednesday in 2021. ( If this process is further delayed by events at the start of the New Year, we will continue to renegotiate until all our lost 2020 bookings are all honoured). Added to recent positive news about vaccines, it seems highly probable that at some point, Nuneaton Folk Club will reinstate its successful relationship with the Town and the Live Music. Already some even more spectacular events are being planned. The club is working in close partnership with The Ragged Bear Festival to make events planned for 2021 special. ® Geoff Veasey, abolper<at>yahoo.co.uk

Performance News Despite Lockdown, several local artistes successfully recorded and released new albums during the year. Of our NFC regulars, Adam Wilson, Des Patalong and Paul Monks were among them. Other NFC supporters were very active online via “Live” Concerts. NFC regulars were also very generous in allowing Anker Folk access to new or as yet unreleased material. NFC compère Geoff Veasey got a lot of work done on his new album “Folking Liberty,” prior to lockdown, thanks to substantial input from Malc Gurnham and John Kearney. Release has been delayed until 2021 at the earliest. ® Geoff Veasey
