4/4-Welcome Back from Spring Break!
Hope all of our Brookside families had a fantastic Spring Break! See you back at school on
Monday, April 4th!
Tile Wall Installation THANK YOU to our generous families & the artistic Tigers who participated in our Tile
Wall fundraiser. The tiles are here and up! A HUGE thank you to Brookside parents Carlos Plascencia & Kelly Ridge-Plascencia and their company, C&K Construction, for spending
part of their spring break beginning the installation process of our new tile wall! The border
and grouting will be completed in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, you can check out
the wall on the 200 building in back of the main office! Thank you to Tile Wall chairs Denise Helfstein & Tas Sutarwala for this wonderful fundraiser, and to office manager, Virginia Standring & Denise Helfstein for helping to coordinate over the break.

4/4 and 4/5 - Parent Education Event: Bouncing Back: Building Resiliency from Infancy to Adulthood Workshop with School Counselor, Holly Baxter The Oak Park Unified School District is proud to offer a Parent Education
Event: Bouncing Back, Building Resiliency from Infancy to Adulthood. From striking out at
bat to bombing a math test, our kids are confronted with disappointments and setbacks each

grow a strong character never ends! Please join this informative workshop presented by Holly Baxter, our Elementary School Counselor, on Monday, 4/4, 7:00 – 8:30 pm or for a repeat presentation on Tuesday, 4/5, 8:30 – 10:00 am located in the Red Oak Multipurpose Room at 4857 Rockfield Street, Oak Park. Worry Less About Homework…. Register for Homework Helper!
Growing Outdoors' Homework Helper program gives students a quiet, calm place to get their
schoolwork done before heading home. The low staff to student ratio creates an environment where
help is just a raised hand away. We help keep students on task and focused so they can learn to use
their time wisely. If students need assistance in any particular area of study, parents are encouraged to
call us and let us know so that we can help each child be most successful. Computers are available for
students who have online homework to complete. Available spots for Homework Helper:
1st - 3rd grade: Monday and Tuesday 2:30pm - 3:00pm 4th & 5th grade: Monday 3:00pm - 4:00pm To register, call Growing Outdoors at 818-889-8383
