One of the best features of the wine server in AustralianWoodsmith No. 43 is that its modular. Everything from theinsides, to the base is designed to be modified and adaptedto your needs. A striking way to do this is to triple the sizeof the server and turn it into a buffet, as you can see in thedrawing below and the photo on the next page.

SIMPLE CHANGES. If you choose to go this route, the firstorder of business is to build four additional cases andplywood plates. Next, youll need to decide how to layout the insides of the cases using the wine rack, drawer, glass holders, or shelves shown in the magazine.

EXPANDED BASE. With the extracases ready to go, you can move onto the base. The ends of the base areidentical to those shown in the arti-cle. To connect the two ends youllneed a longer base panel and alonger pair of hardwood rails. Thedimensions are shown in the draw-ing on the previous page.

The base is assembled withscrews. And after adding the plates(C), you can begin stacking up thebuffet (details c, d, and e).

COMPLETING THE BUFFET. The finalpart to make is the top. Other thanthe size, there isnt anything differ-ent from the original design. Aftergluing up and sizing the top panel,a 9mm chamfer is routed along thebottom edges, as you can see indetail b on the first page. The topis then screwed in place. W
