EMPOWERMENT SHARED LEARNING
TEAMWORK LEADERSHIP
CUSTOMER FOCUS MEASUREMENT & ASSESSMENT
Of course logo design, identity, or branding, demands
all of the designer’s talents of typography, illustration,
and creativity. Here are some of Dave’s designs.
Parking Place Inc maintains parking lots by
resurfacing, striping, and snow removal. It’s all
there in the logo. Investigative Options was
a subsidiary of CNA Insurance (investigating
fraudulent claims). Bright Futures is an educational
program from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The amenities plus mark was submitted
to the American Bar Association promoting
the benefits of membership. They chose
another layout he did, but that’s okay,
Dave submits a lot of ideas when he’s
given a challenge. I like this one, they
liked another. Dairy Dynamics
wanted the look of stainless steel.
The six human resource icons
were created for British
Petroleum.

For over 20 years
Dave has been
working with the
American Academy
of Pediatrics (AAP).
It’s also Dave’s best
client because of the
wide variety of
creative challenges.
I won’t explain each
piece here, just know
that Dave did all the
design, illustration,
and production. That’s
why the AAP calls him.

You can help the world thrive if you STRIVE FOR FIVE---INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. Ask your
parents to help you look for ways that your family can help the Earth by doing small
things inside and outside your home. Here is a checklist to get you started.
Have your parents tune up their lawn mower every year to help it run better and produce fewer emissions that can pollute the air.Plant a tree. Trees help clean the air while adding beauty and shade to your yard.Don’t mow the lawn on ozone action days when air quality is poor.Water the lawn early in the morning so that the water soaks into the ground and does not evaporate.Adjust lawn sprinklers so that you are watering your lawn and plants—not the sidewalk or driveway.Collect rain water in buckets to use for watering plants.Ask your parents if they have a mulching lawn mower. This type of lawn mower leaves very small grass clippings on the lawn, providing a natural fertilizer.Walk or ride your bicycle when possible instead of using the car.On a warm, sunny day, hang laundry outside rather than using the dryer.Ask your parents if they use a gasoline preservative in their lawn mower. It keeps gas fresh, makes the mower easier to start and limits emissions.
Take a shower rather than a bath to save water.Buy cereal and other grocery items in larger size containers. This helps limit the amount of waste that ends up in our landfills.Run the family’s dishwasher only when it is full.On hot, sunny days, close the shades or drapes on the south side of the house to keep it cooler. In winter, raise the shades or open the drapes to let the warmth in.Use batteries that can be recharged (rather than thrown away) in toys, games and other items.Turn off the water when you brush your teeth. If you take your lunch to school, use a reusable bag or lunch box instead of bags you throw away.Recycle aluminum cans, newspapers and plastic and glass containers.Help your parents install fluorescent, energy-saving light bulbs.Check your refrigerator to see if it is air tight to save energy. Close the refrigerator door on a dollar bill that is half inside and half outside the door. If you can pull the dollar out easily, the refrigerator may need a new seal.
