Woman arrested for illicit distillation
STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Police on Tuesday arrested a woman for illicit dis-tillation while seized 10 liters of illicit liquor and destroyed 100liters of Desi Lahan in Nagri area.
As per the details, acting on tip off, a team of Police PostNagri led by SI Vikas Jasrotia Incharge Police Post Nagri asdirected by Inspr. Anil Sharma SHO Kathua under the directsupervision of S.S Sambyal Dy. SP Headquarters Kathua con-ducted a raid in Banyari area falling in the jurisdiction ofPolice Post Nagri and destroyed 100 liters of Lahan recoveredon the spot and also seized 10 litres of illicit liquor from the pos-session of one lady namely Rekha Rani wife of Chanda residentof Mirpur Jaggo Kathua. Police registered a case FIR No93/2018 u/s 48(E) Excise Act. The drive was carried out underthe overall supervision of Sanjay Parihar Addl. SP Kathua.

KATHUA: Police on Tuesday foiled a bovine smuggling bid byrescuing nine bovines, however smuggler managed to escapefrom the spot. As per the details, acting on tip off, a team ofPolice Post Hatli led by SI Verinder Singh Incharge Police Postas directed by Inspector Anil Sharma SHO Police StationKathua under the direct supervision of Dy. SP S.S. SambyalDy. SP Headquarters Kathua intercepted one truck(JK02AK 5571) carrying bovines which was on way fromPunjab towards Kashmir near Maggar Khad falling in thejurisdiction of Police Post Hatli. During checking of the vehi-cle, police rescued nine bovines being smuggled in the said vehi-cle but driver of the truck managed to escape. Police also seizedthe truck and registered a case vide FIR No 94/2018 undersection 188 RPC ,3/5 PCA Act.
Woman suffers snakebite,evacuated to GMC
STATE TIMES NEWSNOWSHERA: A middle aged woman identified as AmritKour (45) wife of Harbhajan Singh resident of Dhallen, suf-fered a snakebite and was immediately shifted to SubDistrict Hospital Nowshera. Since the condition of thepatient was serious, she was evacuated to GovernmentMedical College Hospital Jammu after providing first aid.

According toLaxman Dass son of Som Raj resident of Bhawani Sair whowas putting up in the city in a rented house, parked his bikeoutside his room as usual. In the morning he found hismotorcycle missing. Laxman Dass immediately reported thematter to Police Station Nowshera. The police have takencognisance of the theft and started investigating.

STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Excise Department destroyed 750 kgs ofLahan on Tuesday during different raids carried outagainst illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua.On the direc-tions of the Excise Commissioner Mohd. Javed Khan andsupervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive),Jammu Syed Muried Hussain Shah, the Excise TeamKathua led by ETO Excise RangeKathua, Vikas Anand, InspectorsExcise Arun Kumar and SanjeevKhajuria, SI Amit Sharma along withExcise Guards namely RajinderSingh, Shamsher Dev Singh, MohdRamzan and Balbir Singh raided theSumwan, Mahi Chak and lower SaktaChak areas of Kathua District toarrest the menace of illicit distillationof liquor. During the course of raids 750 kgs of Lahan, rawmaterial of illicit liquor was recovered by the raiding teamfrom State land and later destroyed on spot.

PC imposed restrictions to any sort of publicmovement, interference and public gathering within 100meters of all examination centers of the district Ramban. Useof loud speaker or any other form of public address systemaround the examination centers and smoking is strictly pro-hibited.This order shall take effect from March 14, 2018 andremain in force till said examinations conclude.

Leading the protesters, for-mer MLA and State SecretaryNational Conference ThRachpal Singh expressedgrave concern over the lack-adaisical and insensitiveapproach of the PDP-BJPgovernment to the issue, say-ing there seems to be a designin vitiating the atmosphere byignoring popular demand ofthe area.
