According to a report, during the intervening night of 19th -20th June, 2017, some bur- glars broke open the shutters of two shops and one ATM in Doda town. The burglars succeeded in decamping with Rs 80,000 from the shop but was reportedly unable to open the locker of the ATM. The two shops belong to to Yawer Zaffer Batt and Riaz Ahmed Thoker located near District Library Doda. After registering a case vide FIR No 134/2017 under sec- tion 457/380 RPC at Police Station Doda, a team under the supervision of SHO Doda, Inspector Raghubir Singh, imme- diately started investigation and within no time, police man- aged to get some solid clues and on the basis of same, a sus- pect was arrested who after some resistance confessed of committing the crime and money was recovered from him. The accused from whom the recovery was made has been identified as Jaffer Hussain son of Abdul Hameed Mir Resident of Beoli, Doda. LMD books 16 defaulters STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: A team of Legal Metrology Department, Udhampur led by Assistant Controller, Anita Sharma con- ducted surprise market inspection here this morning. During the inspection, various commercial establishments including Kiryana shops, fruit/vegetable stalls, hardware stores, gold smith shops, gas agencies and petrol pumps were inspected by the team. Sixteen traders were booked on- spot and a fine of Rs.23,000 was realised from the default- ers. Speaking on the occasion, the Assistant Controller appealed the consumers to remain vigilant and check rates, date of packing and complete address of the manufacturer during shopping. She also directed the traders not to indulge in any unfair trade practice. According to a report, a body of a teenager boy was found lying in mysterious circumstances in Latti Nallah in Tehsil Chenani district Udhampur. At wee hours some passerby after seeing the dead informed the local police who shifted it to nearby PHC where doctors declared him brought dead. Victim was identified as 15 years Balbir Singh son of Kunj Lal resident of Latti locality. Biker knocked to death by truck STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: A biker was knocked to death by a speeding truck on Dhar Road near Karkai in Udhampur on Tuesday. According to a report, a motorcycle (DL3SDE-0440) was hit by a speeding truck on Dhar Road near Karkai resulting in biker getting critically injured and was shifted to nearby PHC from where on seeing his serious condition was further referred to Batra Hospital Jammu where he succumbed to injuries. Police handed over the body to family members of the victim after conducting autopsy and registered a case for investigation. The victim was identified as Sarperrt Dixit son of Om Parksh resident of New Delhi. 3 factory workers receive burn injuries STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Three workers of Battal Ballian factory received burn injuries while they were engaged in factory work in Udhampur on Tuesday. According to a report, three workers of Battal Ballain fac- tory in Udhampur were suddenly engulfed in flames as fire broke out due to short circuit. They all received fatal burn injuries and were shifted to District Hospital Udhampur, from where they were further referred to GMC Jammu on being serious. The injured were identified as 36 years Ram Charan son of Rattan Lal and 33 years Mohd Aslam son of Mani both residents of village Chak and Rattan Kumar son of Madan Lal resident of Thnnu in Udhampur. STATE TIMES NEWS THANAMANDI: District Administration, Rajouri organised a public grievance redressal and awareness camp on Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) and Right to Information (RTI) Act apart from welfare schemes for stu- dents, women, children, mili- tancy affected and destitute. District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, AC Defence Abdul Qayoom, SDM Thanamandi Afzal Mirza, CMO Dr Suresh, DSWO Dr Abdul Khabir, ExEn of PHE, PWD, PMGSY, Mechanical, EM&RE, and district and sec- toral officers attended the pro- ceedings. More than 30 people from Thanamandi shared their views on the schemes and expressed gratitude to district administration for a wide- spread public outreach process. Departmental resource per- sons and district officers pre- sented details of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and wel- fare schemes launched by State Government which included NOAPS, Widow Pension, Aasra, MIDH, NFBS, PMKSY, SBM, MGNREGA, JKEDI schemes and a number of schemes related to farming sectors like horticulture, agriculture, seri- culture, fisheries, animal and sheep husbandry. Departments also presented a detailed resume of achieve- ments under the scheme in dis- trict and schedule of various awareness and enrolment camps being organised. DDC asked the departments to formulate village and pan- chayat wise development plan under various sectors and asked for convergence plan to promote horticulture in the region. He stressed on mass movement and concerted efforts for promoting educa- tion in the area, adding that education and awareness will lead to actual empowerment of masses. He thanked the people for overwhelming response to camps organised for providing services covered under PSGA and informed that such a series of camps will continue in July as well. So fare more than 5,500 certificates have been issued in ongoing 112 camps notified for this month. There is total mal-functioning of edu- cational institutions because of the insufficient staff and the accommodation for the students especially the Government Degree College Bishnah which is in quite bad shape. Fasal Bhima Yojna be immediately implemented in the whole area especially in the border belt so that farm- ers are saved from starving, proper financial assistance be provided to the farmers whose crops have been destroyed due to the recent hail storm and proper accom- modation and other facilities be provided for the Degree College Bishnah. Speakers appealed to G. S Charak to take up these issues with the concerned authorities at the earliest oth- erwise they will be compelled to start strong protest against the government in whole of the Tehsil. Charak assured them that their genuine demands will be taken up with Central and State Governments and if it failed to act then government should get ready to face pub- lic wrath. DDC asked the departments

to formulate village and pan-chayat wise development planunder various sectors andasked for convergence plan topromote horticulture in theregion. He stressed on massmovement and concertedefforts for promoting educa-tion in the area, adding thateducation and awareness willlead to actual empowerment ofmasses. He thanked the peoplefor overwhelming response tocamps organised for providingservices covered under PSGAand informed that such aseries of camps will continue inJuly as well. So fare more than5,500 certificates have beenissued in ongoing 112 campsnotified for this month.

Speakers appealed to G. SCharak to take up theseissues with the concernedauthorities at the earliest oth-erwise they will be compelledto start strong protest againstthe government in whole ofthe Tehsil.

Charak assured them thattheir genuine demands will betaken up with Central andState Governments and if itfailed to act then governmentshould get ready to face pub-lic wrath. STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: DistrictDevelopment Commissioner,Ravinder Kumar on Tuesdaychaired a meeting to reviewthe pace of developmentalworks and implementation ofwelfare schemes in the dis-trict. Discussion was held onstatus of development proj-ects, their stage-wiseprogress, issues involvedthereto and system of super-vision and monitoring by thefield officers. The DDCdirected the officers to accel-erate developmental tempoin the district and ensure alltargeted developmental proj-ects are completed withinstipulated time. He alsodirected officers to ensure

field visit to check quality ofwork and remove bottle-necks, if any.

Earlier, DDC had feedbackfrom various departmentsregarding physical andfinancial status of develop-mental works in the district.The DDC also asked the offi-cers to submit physical andfinancial progress of ongoingdevelopment works onmonthly basis so that anytype of inordinate delay inthe completion of the projectdo not occur.
