Summary • I have decided to produce street photography, the

reason I choose this is because I like the idea of finding art in streets and the different stories it tells me.

• I will gain the understanding of street photography and the techniques and styles involved, like camera settings and how to get the best camera angles and viewpoints. Also gain knowledge of other street photography like Massimo Vitali and Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Techniques/conventions• street photography

• Its best to avoid long lenses and stick to short lenses, having a long lenses will make it more likely people will confront you, because you are taking it from a distance and more people will see you and wonder what you are doing. using a short lense will force you to get close and also you can react to situations faster.

• The best locations for street photography is crowded

areas with a long stream of people and situations, and wide pavement will give you more room to take photos.

• Find graphic shapes in cities, look for clean line, bold shapes and strong designs, pre-think your photos and wait for the best moments. shooting from a high position can give you good shots and allow you to start taking photos of people shadows.

• candids images will give you the best images and the best effect, build the confidence to take them and not worry about what people think about you.

Vantage point of this photo was taking from on top of 6-9 meter high platform, with the cameraman using a vintage 1950s wooden camera-a large format 11x14 deardorff, and it was on a tripod to balance the shot.

By Massimo Vitali

Massimo vitali likes to set up then wait until people forget he is there so it can become a candid imager.

The photo is busy and contain information visually showing the day to day lives of people in Veneziax.

The colour in this images is bright and natural, you could say natural but some post-p could of be done but it wouldn't surprise me if nothing was editing done.

The subject of this image I would say is the people and the area they are in, massimo has done a great job of focusing on the landmark and people/tourists in it.

The background of this image is of course the landmarks and is made to large in the image so it is the first thing you see when you look at it.

The photo is busy and contain information visually showing the day to day lives of people on the beach near the MTV tent .

This image is busy/passive, it shows the population of MTV back in they prime and how many people would show up when they were in the area.

The light of the image has a slight early 2000’s feel to it where new technology were made but if you look at it today it would feel old and that what this image feels like.

The tone of the image is that people are waiting to get onto the beach for one of MTV famous beach party they did back at the early beginning of the population of the channel. So the tone really is that something is about to happen and this is just the waiting part of it.

The background of this image is of a beautiful mountains that has good shape to it that makes it the first thing you see when you look at the image.

The light of the image has an early tourist advisement feel to it like someone has taking it for a tourist brochure. Making the trees and water stand out the most in it.

The dynamic range of the image has be cleverly taking so you feel like the mountains are far away and that you're on a big lake and the people are really small because they are far away.

The geometric shape of the mountain is my favourite thing about this image it is one of the first thing I saw when I looked at this and massimo has done a great job of not just throwing it at your face like someone other photographers will.

The subject of this image is the difference between upper class and lower class where the upper class eat insider the restaurant the lower class must eat eatside on the streets.

The framing of this is with the shopkeeper who is inside what I believe is the counter and if you were to crop out everything but him would make a good photo on its own.

The contrast of this image is the light of the sun and the darkness of the shadows from the sun, you can clearly see where the sun hit and where the shadows are blocking it.

The light in this image is very simply, the only real light is from the sun and with the black and white you can see it much clearer.

The tone is the old fashion feel of it being black and white, telling you it was taken before colour photography was a thing like today it is.

The subject of this image is how close a area can be close to another a public walk area right next to train track and a storage area.

The leading lines are clearing the bridge lines showing the train tracks and leading you are the tracks and a helping hand from the man looking down so you may follow what he is looking at.

The candid of this is image is of the two gentleman on the right looking to see if they can spot a train coming.

The balance of this image is three thing the right, left and the middle all commanding your attention, the most commanding is the middle because it has the plus of having leading lines.

The tone is the old fashion feel of it being black and white, telling you it was taken before colour photography was a thing like today it is.

The tone is the old fashion feel of it being black and white, telling you it was taken before colour photography was a thing like it is today.

The subject of this image is of course the man trying to jump over the water and his reflexion on the water, and the normal going on’s in the background of a British city in this time.

The main symmetry is the man trying to jump over the water and his reflexion on the water, it is a good effect for this image and not a easy one for when this was taken and had to be well timed for it to look like this.

The repetition is of the fences in the background and the repetition of the pattern it takes and how it reflects off the water.

market• My target audience are young adults who love

photography and don't want to deal with going to art galleries and just want to look at cool photos and work, and not having to deal with facts and information about the photo but just look at it and not be told what to think about it.

• The best place I think for selling my work is online on my own website or a website that sells work to the public, because my work will not be for art galleries and art collectors but for putting in your house on the walls and on a wall in a cafe. i would advertise my work through blogs and other website like facebook and twitter.

Page 15: 4. report reading photographs by james horbury.pptx

Conclusion My findings are:

• That I want to use street photography for my chosen photography style. Because I like the idea of using the streets and the buildings as my art

• I want to take images using the technique of blurring.

• I will use massimo vitali and Henri Cartier-Bresson as inspiration for my work I do on my day out in york with the camour.

• I will use candid as my main style for my work and aim to have a selection of candid images for my final work

• The market plan for my work is to advertise it to the younger generation and to use social media and online market to sell my work.
