The nomination form, a copy of the horse ID (including a color picture of the horse) and fee should to be forwarded to the State 4-H Office as soon as possible, within the May 1-5 week for 2-year-old-snaffle and 3-year-olds.

2017 Kansas 4-H Dog Care and Training Project Changes Periodically the Kansas 4-H Dog Care and Training Project shares changes as they affect 4-H dog shows including the Kansas State Fair 4-H Dog Show. For questions, contact Deryl E. Waldren, 785-462-6281 or [email protected].

-2017 Kansas State Fair 4-H Dog Show fee – A $5.00 entry fee per class with a maximum of $30.00 per 4-H member will be due to the Kansas State 4-H Office with all Kansas State Fair 4-H Dog Show entries by August 15, 2017.

-County 4-H-sponsored dog show flyers may be posted to the Kansas 4-H web site. For directions on how to post dog show flyers and information, visit: http://www.kansas4-h.org/events-activities/conferences-events/dog/docs/guidelines-for-posting-county-dog%20-show-flyers.pdf.

2017 Kansas State Fair 4-H SpaceTech Changes -GPS/GIS have been suspended for this 4-H program year due to low participation numbers. A final decision about the future of the project will be decided by October 1, 2017. Extension units may still include GPS/GIS classes in local fairs, but there will be no classes at the Kansas State Fair this year, and all references to GPS/GIS have been removed. -Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) have been added to Kansas 4-H SpaceTech for 2017. The roll out will be over a two-year period. For 2016-17, only posters, display boards and notebooks will be allowed. -There has been a major reorganization of information in the Kansas 4-H SpaceTech department. It will make the organi-zation of SpaceTech much more readable. Previously for each project section in astronomy, computers, rockets, robotics and now unmanned aerial systems, the class numbers and information for posters, displays and notebooks were repeat-ed in each section. To streamline the text, all of the information about posters, displays and notebooks has been pulled and inserted into a new section near of bottom of the SpaceTech with the rules and guidelines along with the specific class numbers for each section added in posters, displays and notebooks. -For more information, please contact Deryl Waldren, 785-462-6281, or e-mail [email protected].

Its time to start thinking about Chopped Clover Edition again. It is going to be like last year but with a few minor changes. For those that this is new, it is an event closely designed after the TV show chopped. We will have secret ingredients that teams will be required to use plus a pantry of about 15 items for the teams to choose from to come up with their own recipe. Then give a short presentation about their dish.

This year each round will have different secret ingredients so will be able to watch other groups. Juniors will have two secret ingredients and seniors will have four. There is also going to be a contest for who can recruit the most teams/participants. Cost this year will be $15.

Teams will consist of 2-4 youth and one adult helper. Not all youth need to be in 4-H.

There is videos, scoresheets and other information at http://www.maraisdescygnes.k-state.edu/

More information/registration will be sent out with next months newsletter.
