Certification Courses

APPLIED SUICIDE INTERVENTION SKILLS TRAINING The ASIST workshop is for caregivers who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. This highly interactive, practical, practice-oriented workshop is created by Living Works Education Inc. (www.livingworks.net). Certificate is provided upon completion. MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID This workshop teaches participants how to help someone who is showing signs of a mental health problem or is experiencing a mental health crisis. The 12-hour training course covers the following topics:

- Signs and symptoms of mental health problems and crisis situations; - A basic model to provide Mental Health First Aid; - Information about how to help in a crisis and how to help prevent a

crisis from arising; - Encouraging a person to identify options for help.

The training is open to the general public, formal caregivers such as teachers, health service providers, emergency workers, human resource professionals, employers, families and people with lived experience of mental illness. MENTAL HEALTH WORKS The Mental Health Works program is new to CMHA Middlesex and is a social enterprise of CMHA National. The program provides capacity building workshops on workplace mental health to both employers and employees. Our approach is person-centred, evidence-based, and solutions-focused. We meet the needs of workplaces for mental health training with three different training opportunities; Core Training (Full Day), In Focus Training (Half Day) and Essentials (One Hour). WORRIED SICK: UNDERSTANDING ANXIETY DISORDERS This seminar will discuss common experiences of anxiety found in teens and adults, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety and Panic Disorder. London: Physical Wellness and Health COMMUNITY OUTREACH INJECTION NURSE Working with the Transitional Case Management team, this program supports individuals who have a hard time following medication treatment schedules and may not be well connected to the health care system. CONCURRENT DISORDERS PROGRAM A drop-in group for people living with both a mental illness and an addiction. This group is a supportive environment where people can share their successes and challenges. The group also offers educational information to help people with their journey of recovery. Glencoe Outreach CMHA has branched out into the community! Programs now run out of the Glencoe Memorial Arena 138 Mill St (2nd floor). There is no cost to these programs, and coffee and a light snack is always offered. Mondays from 1:00-3:30pm
