Elegant design fits target user

Stable base allows for multiple locations of torch

Mechanics

Pin to puncture catridge on impact

Carbon dioxide cartridge (can be purchased at any hardware store)

Spring loaded mechanism releases when micro-notches are moved out of place.

Mechanism to be stored within the base of the torch. Small vibrations due to regular use of the tiki torch and transformation will not release carbon dioxide because the pin is too dull.

Upon impact, spring is released and pushes carbon dioxide cartridge to be pierced.

The cube is made up of two colored parts. As time nears completion of the fuel, the inner color will mix in with the outer color. This will give the flame a beautiful color combination. It’s main function is to notify the user to replace the fuel.

borax - light greencopper sulfate - green

strontium chloride - redpotassium chloride - purple

The Facts

Opportunity Design a safety mechanism that can help prevent burns and fires from everyday stove top use.

Problem StatementPeople with low vision fear cooking on the stove. Many injuries occur such as burns or even fatalities. This leads to many eating outside the house, which causes obesity and an unhealthy lifestyle.

First a working model was constructed

Next the water was turned on, activating the device

Once the water was captured, it was distributed into the bottle
