    Introduction

    Whats a projector?

A projector is a device whichprojects still images or videos ontoa screen. It tricks our eyes byrapidly changing images-min. 24images per sec.

    Available 3-D projectors

    The presently widely

used so called 3-Dprojectors are madewith the help ofadjustable interocularlenses. However, they

    use a screen i.e., weare viewing a 3-Dimage on a 2-D plane!!

    Gas-type

It uses lasers to project real 3-D imagesinto ether. The images are created byblasting nitrogen and oxygen into air at fixedpoints resulting in glowing plasma emissions

which hang-out just long enough to etch anephemeral image.

    Condenser type

A condenser type of Projector uses a highresolution condenser which is capable ofproducing temperature of about -30 degreescentigrade. It causes a temporary still in the

air and the projector projects in thin air layerwhich varies from 1.2 to 2.5 Q.

Working of a Gas Type Projector

The gas type projector creates 3-D imagewith the help of plasma emissions by blastingnitrogen and oxygen into air.

With improved lasers, scientists say they'll becapable of projecting images at greaterdistances with more color variation making

the device suitable for pyrotechnics oroutdoor advertising.

A gas type projector is bulky, hard to operate, hazardous and could be used only forindustrial purposes.

Hence more emphasis is laid on condensertype projectors in this presentation.

The main principle behind the 3-D projectiontechnique is total internal reflection which is a

consequence of refraction- a basic property oflight.

A thin film of air is made with the help of acooling the air of certain region- specifically of a

few microns. Thus the velocity of the gaseousmolecules decreases and they become still fora definite period of time.

    Principle Behind Condenser Type

    Brewsters Law

    According to Brewsters Law,

tan ip = Qr which implies that at a particular

angle of incidence the ray is totallyreflected back into the medium andthere is no loss of light.

A ray of lightstrikes on thecondensed air, the

refractive index ofthe air in thatparticular region isdifferent from theother region, itundergoes totalinternal reflectionand the ray reflectsback on our eyes.

    Construction Of Condensed Type

A condensed type of projector consists of:-

    >>A 3-D projector namely RBT 3-D Projector101 or an I-max 3-D projector.

    >>A high capacity Condenser which iscapable of producing a -30 degrees

    temperature.

    Working of a CondenserType

The ray of light is emitted from the projector. Thisray strikes the thin film of air made so. It should getpartly reflected and refracted. But however theconstruction is made in accordance with the

Brewster law, such that the angle of incidenceallows total internal reflection. Hence, there is noloss of light and we get maximum amount of lightreflected on our eyes.

However there is a small amount of light lost due to

energy imparted to the gaseous molecules. Theimage is thus projected in air having gaseousmolecules of properties different from usualproperties, i.e. having lesser thermal velocity.

Doesnt require a screen. Requires a screen.

Images are of 3D type-better quality

    Images are of2-D type-normal quality.

Touch screen facilityavailable. Touch screen facility isn'tyet invented.

    Costly and not easilyportable

    Cheap and is easilyportable.

    Advantages of a 3-D projector

It doesnt require a screen to project animage it projects on thin air layer.

The image clarity is better as compared to 2Dimage because there is no loss of energyinvolved in it.

The image viewing is enhanced because we

can view a 3-D image in a 3-D space. We could connect PC monitors or TV sets to

it using cables or even WLAN.

    Advantages of a 3-D projector

Spectrography could be done with muchbetter precision and accuracy. For a simple

e.g. a NaCl crystal which we study in2

Dplane i.e. a book or on a screen could beviewed actually in 3D space.

Touch screen facility is available on a 3-D

    projector.

    Disadvantages:-

It cant be projected in open surroundings.

Cant be used in space works because itcant be operated in vacuum.

It is not portable as the condensers areheavy to be transported.

    Requires high electric consumption.

Its costly, available around 20,000$ in2006 but as the technology advances, itwill get cheaper.

Research and Development The advancement is going on at a rapid speed.

In 2006, only 3D projectors were available

which could only give a display i.e. an output. But today there is already a technique

invented by engineers which could build a

    touch screen enabled in airprojected.

Research and Development The invention of 3-D has opened the new paths for

the advancement in electronics. The flat screenpanel

that we use in PCs and TVs would be replaced bysuch 3-D projectors. We would even have touch

screens in air which would decrease the use of

keyboards and mouse and many other such I/O

devices. With the help of heliographic techniquesand the use of 3-D projectors, the future ofmankind

    is very bright.

    Conclusion

The use of 3-D projectors should beemphasized as it gives better pictureresolution, more clarity and flexibility.

Though its costly, it opens many newareas of electronics world. Sooner or laterthe prices of the 3-D projectors would bedecreased and would be affordable. Thepresentations and holographic views can

be viewed with better vision. The extent ofits application depends upon the limit ofour innovative ideas and thinking.
