    Seco Tools is introducing a new Ball nose cutter designed

    to deliver higher performance and better reliability in

    copy milling applications. This high metal removal cutter

    can handle very high feed rates thanks to a rigid design

    and the two effective teeth. K=2. The best cutter on the

    market, R218.20.

    R218.20 has a unique seating with tenon location to avoid

    stress on the locking screw and to prevent insert rotation.

    The chip space is large and includes a big radius to make the

    cutter stronger in the centre. The insert has two easy cutting

    edges on the same insert.

    MAXIMUM SECURITY AND RELIABILITYThe insert and body strength gives the cutter maximum

    security and reliability, which makes it suitable for use in

    unmanned production.

    R218.20 can handle very high feed rates, which gives

    it very good productivity on modern machine tools. It is

    also cost-effective under peak

    performance thanks to the in-

    sert and body strength. The new

    Ball nose cutter is a versatile cutter and can be used from

    semi-finishing to heavy roughing operations in all kinds

    of material.

    PRODUCT ADVANTAGESThe insert edge is S curved to reduce cutting forces,

    and has a constant cutting rake all along the edge. Posi-

    tive axial rake gives a smooth cutting action and allows

    up-machining possibilities, and reinforcement in the cen-

    tre makes it breakage resistant. A smooth geometry gener-

    ates very low cutting forces by using an adapted clearance

    all along the edge, which leads to increased tool life.

    The inserts are designed in two different geometrical

    shapes and two grades, which make it easy to always find

    the right alternative depending on application.

    THE R218.20 INSERT DESIGN.For simplicity there are two different edges on the same

    insert, the centre cutting edge and the periphery cutting

    edge. The picture below shows the different edge loca-

    tions. There are also a reinforced edges at the centre to

    prevent edge breakage

    THE R218.20 CUTTER BODY DESIGN.

    In order to make a secure locking of the insert tenons

    have been placed in the pocket seat. The tenons reduce

    the stress on the locking screw and prevents the insert

    from rotating in the pocket seat.

    To improve the chip evacuation and reduce the risk of chip

    jamming the cutter has a large chip space. In the centre a

    large radius has been provided in order to make the cutter

    stronger to handle the impact from the cutting forces.

    Seco Tools High Feed solution 217/220.21 and Mini-

    master are tools for very high metal removal rates and

    increased productivity.

    Compared with round insert cutters, which are per-

    fect for copy milling when using small overhang and/or

    machining under stable conditions, the High Feed cutters

    are superior when machining in deep pockets with long

    overhang and/or machining under unstable conditions

    depending on either the machined component or the

    long overhang or the machine. The reason is reduced

    vibrations thanks to a favourable direction of the cutting

    forces.

    The High Feed cutters are flexible tools for pocketing

    and plunging specially designed for maximum metal

    removal rates under unfavourable conditions.

    3 TIMES AS FAST WHEN USING LONG OVERHANG

    The cutting edges of the High Feed tools are designed

    with a very big radius in comparison to the diameter of the

    tools. This in combination with using small depths of cuts

    means that the cutting forces are directed in the axial di-

    rection towards the spindle, which is very favourable when

    using long overhangs. The result is also that very high feed

    rates can be used without tendencies to vibrations.

    Seco offers a wide range of Jabro solid end mills with full

    radius and corner radius (also called torical or bull nose)

    tools in solid carbide for 3D milling in the market seg-

    TORNADO stands for a complete range of solid carbide

    end mills especially developed for high speed machining.

    SOLID CARBIDE BALL NOSE ENDMILLS. JH111 & JH970JH 111 is a perfect tool choice in hardened steel up to

    65 HRc and cast iron. The range includes diameters from

    216 mm and three different lengths for optimum reach

    and stability.

    JH970 is developed for high metal removal rate and high-

    speed machining in steel up to 48 HRc, for superalloys

    and stainless steel. The diameter range is from 216 mm

    in two different lengths.

    SOLID CARBIDE BULL NOSE ENDMILLS. JH140 & JH440JH140 can be used in steel, hardened steel, cast iron,

    stainless steel, superalloys and titanium based alloys.

    CONICAL FULL-RADIUS TOOLS. JHK-RJHK-R end mills are the tools for conical part applications,

    today manufactured using full radius (Ball nose) and

    DIAMOND. THE SOLUTION

    FOR GRAPHITE MACHINING.

    DIAMOND COATED.JD660, JD665 & JD670The DIAMOND end mill concept keeps surprising graph-

    ite-machining companies. The DIAMOND coatings pro-

    tects the cutting edge of the milling cutter to such extent

    that a tool life is eight to ten times longer than those of

    milling cutters with a conventional coating.

    The DIAMOND line offers a wide range of ge-

    ometries specially designed for graphite machining

    and comprises diameters between 0.212.0 mm. The

    combination of hardmetal and diamond coating was

    developed in such a way that perfect adherence of the

    coating is guaranteed.

    MINI. SMALL, SMALLER,

    MINIATURE END MILLS.JM915 & JM925Micro-technology and miniaturization are undergoing

    rapid developments. In order to be able to manufacture

    small products Seco has developed a wide range of mini-

    ature end mills: the Jabro MINI range.

    The MINI range stands for small diameters (0.1 mm

    2.0 mm), precision, technology and quality. The MINI

    Seco Minimaster for 3D milling is available in 2- and 3-

    flute versions, with 3-flute version it is possible to improve

    the productivity with higher feed rates, and with 2-flute

    version it is possible to minimize the risk of vibration.

    Seco have continuously improved and extended the

    Minimaster range since its introduction in 1988. Today

    the Minimaster range is close to perfect, a unique end

    milling system which can combine different solutions due

    to the big range of inserts and shanks. The Minimaster

    system consists of a broad range of different shanks and

    Plunging was invented to be able to remove large quantities

    of material and is especially adapted for applications where

    long overhang is needed, for example in 3D milling.

    Seco was the first to introduce standard plunging cut-

    ters on the market, which means that we have long experi-

    ence in the field and the widest range on the market.

    Under normal conditions, a large overhang automati-

    cally means that cutting data must be reduced to prevent

    deflection of the tool, often leading to vibrations, poor

    surface finish and inferior dimensional accuracy. How-

    ever, the principal of operation of the plunging cutter

    enables high cutting data to be used at overhangs many

    times greater than in conventional operations.

    Plunging cutters allow very high material removal rates
