• Yes, we´re in Ireland. At Cobh´s Harbour.

They go for a walk in the harbour and they meet a boy with a basket full of fish.

• Hello! What are you doing?

• I must carry these salmons to Cork.

• Cork? What´s that?

• It´s a city. Would you like to come with me?

• We´re from Spain, from Galicia.

• I´ve heard Galicia looks like Ireland.

They arrived in Cork.

•  I like Cork. What´s that?

•  It´s a church, St. Ann´s Shandon.

•  It´s a weather vane, it´s a salmon!

• The tower has got four clocks!

• That´s right. We call it the four-faced liar.

• Look!  That´s the old Butter Exchange. Butter is very important in Ireland, we cook everything with butter.

•  In Galicia we use oil.

•  Saint Brigid made butter in Ireland 1500 years ago.

•  Saint Brigid? Who´s that?

• She´s a saint. We celebrate her day on February 1st -when warm season starts.

•  What do you do in Ireland that day?

•  We make crosses with plants and put them above the doors of the houses.

• This is Saint Patrick Street.

• And that building over there?

• It´s the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery.

• What can you see there?

•  You can see many Irish artists´ pictures and some beautiful stained-glass windows. Do you know James Barry? He´s an important Irish painter, and here they have some of his paintings.

• Look! That´s St. Finbarr´s Cathedral and over there is the National Monument in Grand Parade street.

•  That´s beautiful!

• In Galicia we have

good wines.

•   Here there is a Festival of Fine Food.

•  Can we try it?• Look this is colcanon.• Mm! It tastes

delicious.And that?• That´s brown bread. • Can I have a glass of

water?• In Ireland when we eat

we drink coffee or tea, we never drink water.

• I prefer tea then!

•  It´s Blarney Castle.

•  What are they doing?

• They´re kissing the stone of Eloquence to get “the gift of the gab”. From here you can see Blarney House.

•  I like Ireland a lot!

Now they´re in Killarney. • Look at those cars. •They´re Tilburies. • How nice! It´s a funny transport! • Here you can see the Museum of Irish Transport. It´s got bycicles, motorbikes, fire engines,...

• They´re playing Gaelic Football. Each team has got 15 players and they can touch the ball with feet and hands.

• The ball is smaller than football´s.

• Yes, here we prefer this sport to socker-a similar sport to football.

• They decide to visit the lakes the lakes.• Let´s go!• These are the lakes: Muckross Lake, Upper Lake and Lough Leane.• They are very nice. Look at those water steps!• It´s Torc Waterfall. And we can see also Muckross House.•I miss the sea! Are we very far from the sea?• No, I must go to Dingle, and there you´ll see the sea.• Let´s go!
