Steve Van Andel is responsible for managingdaily operations of the company. He sharesAmways Office of the Chief Executive withpresident Doug DeVos.

Van Andel has been chairman of the $8.4billion company since 1995, and is the oldestson of Amway co-founder Jay Van Andel. In

1959, Jay and his lifelong friend and businesspartner, Rich DeVos, started Amway from theirhomes in Ada, Mich. In four decades, Amwaygrew from a small company selling a singlecleaning product to one of the worlds largestdirect selling companies. Van Andel succeeded

his father as chairman, and led the expansionof Amway into a stronger and more diversifiedcompany to be more competitive in the neweconomy.

Before becoming chairman, Van Andel was Amways vice

president Americas, overseeing the companys business

operations in North and South America. He also served as vice

president of marketing.

On June 12, 2002, Van Andel concluded his one-year term as the

chairman of the United States Chamber of Commerce. During

his term as Chamber chairman, he traveled extensively

throughout the U.S. and to eleven countries in Europe, Latin

America and Asia where he was a tireless advocate of free

trade issues.

Van Andel serves on the boards of Business Leaders for

Michigan, Gerald R. Ford Foundation, and Grand Rapids John

Ball Zoo Society. He also serves on the boards of the

Metropolitan Health Corp. and theMetropolitan HospitalFoundation in Grand Ra ids.

PROJECT SUNRISE

2009 was a significant year in the Amway family when Amway Corporationcelebrated its 50th anniversary. To commemorate this occasion, AmwayCorporation had taken a decision to disburse grants under the One By One

campaign for children, worldwide. AOF received a three-year grant, withwhich it has launched Project Sunrise in 56 locations across the country.

At each location, an orphanage or institution for children had been identified,and then support extended to them, with clean drinking water as a focalpoint with education and nutrition elements added to make an effectivepartnership.

This work has been carried out at all corners of the country from Port Blair, toKohima, to Shimla, to Rajkot, to Hubli. This is a truly pan-India effort whereAmway staff and distributors have helped in identifying partner NGOs, basedon the work they do and local reputation they enjoy.

Besides the direct intervention spelt out above, AOF makes it a point to engageour partner institutions at least thrice a year for a painting contest wherechildren of Amway staffers and distributors, join the children of our partner

institution for a painting competition. May 5th is designated AOF day and onChildrens Day on November 14th each year, team AOF, along with Amwaydistributors of that particular town, do all they can to make it a special dayfor the children at our partner organization.

Our aim will be to ensure that we carry on these partnerships, beyond the grantperiod. Amway India is working to make a difference, one by one.
